Back to Induction

Posted 03-02-2009 at 04:45 PM by QueenMama

I'm tired of fooling around with my weight, seeing it bounce up, but not wanting to come down again.

So, I am starting from scratch, pretending this is my first round with low carb, and doing Induction. So far so good, too. I started yesterday, the first day of March. Let's see what happens now. I plan to stick with it for the entire month.

I'm also making an effort to drink adequate water. I've always had my coffee first, and probably will continue that, but now I'm going to keep a mug of water on my desk, and try to have at least 2 of them each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. It's a 20 oz mug, so that should help a lot.

It's been a merry-go-round the past year, with the weight going up and down, up and down, but lately the merry-go-round has stopped, and my pony has been in the high position for way too long. Perhaps induction will get the merry-go-round going and get the pony moving down again, and then stay down for the duration. Or, perhaps the pony will jump off the merry-go-round and go charging downhill! (Like those wild horses on "The Man From Snowy River", a great scene!)

    Great idea!

Induction is the best! By the way, that is one of my favorite movies.

It's working! Since Sunday I have lost 6.5 lbs! I'm floored, really. I haven't had that kind of quick loss in years, even trying induction. I guess my body is finally ready to let go of some of the excess that has hung on for way too long. Perhaps this time I'll see more tangible results. I'd love to have to buy a new wardrobe!

I had bounced up 2 lbs, (water weight from eating a pre-cooked brisket that is salty), but this morning those 2 lbs are gone.

For breakfast I usually have either a couple of boiled eggs, or a protein shake. I make it with a cup of almond milk, just a tiny dash of heavy cream, 2 scoops of protein powder, sometimes an egg, and a bit of ice to make it good and cold.

Lunch is usually just some sort of meat or chicken, usually leftovers from supper. Sometimes I have a few pickles or olives, and sometimes a piece of cheese.

Supper is meat or chicken, how much depending on how hungry I am. I never skimp on the amount of meat I eat. If I'm in the mood for a vegetable, it might be green beans, or steamed broccoli, or just some cucumbers or other raw veggies. I'm not a fan of salad every day, I'll eat it at a restaurant, or when we have fresh lettuce from the garden, but I really don't care for it often. And some days I just don't feel like eating veggies, so I don't. (I can just see Dixie pulling out her hair on this!)

I've been foregoing any sweets, except for sweetener in my hot tea, and what's in my shake mix. No low carb wraps, either.

I'm not hungry, I seem to get plenty to eat, and I feel really good on the whole. And the weight is finally coming off.

I remember Dr. Atkins original book, how he told of some people who just could not lose weight unless they cut their carb count way, way down, having only a tiny bit of salad every day, if at all. It appears that I'm one of those people. If I cut back on the carbs, way, way back, then I lose. When I start adding them back in, the losses stop dead. I can live with that. It's not really that restrictive, I don't feel deprived at all, and hunger isn't a problem as long as I get 3 good meals with adequate protein and fat.

I don't forego veggies, I just sometimes don't eat them every day, or eat very few. I know of a fellow on another forum who eats only meat, and he's lost a good amount of weight, regained health, and now runs half marathons with ease. He pretty much lives on ground beef, and he's quite healthy. Reminds me of the Inuit and Masai, who don't have access to vegetables, who eat meat and a lot of fat, rarely fruit when it's available, and who are extremely healthy as long as they don't eat a modern diet. I want that kind of health!

    Thanks!

Well, I'm up 2 lbs, but it's water, and I'm sure that's what it is because my rings are really tight, and they are usually quite loose. I learned to quit obsessing over a 2-5 lb bounce because 99% of the time it's just water weight.

This morning I had cheese for breakfast, a little leftover brisket, a boiled egg and a few pickles for lunch (getting rid of leftovers!)
