If You're Sick, Stay Home!

Posted 01-17-2008 at 11:07 AM by QueenMama

Yesterday we had a woman call, (well, actually, it was her daughter who called for her), who was sick and could not make her appointment. She was told to call when she was well, and we would reschedule. Did she? No, she walked in this morning, still sick, for her appointment. I had time for her, so I went ahead and took care of things. Needless to say, I immediately washed my hands when she left. I wonder if I should have disinfected the papers she brought, that I stuck in her file??? Perhaps I need a can of Lysol just for such things.

The main reason this concerns me is that we have had about 22 cases of flu go through the local hospital in just 2 days, besides colds and such going around. If you don't have to be out (this girl certainly could have waited until she was well to do this interview), then stay home and get better.

Thank goodness my immune system is better than it's been in years, thanks to not eating sugar and other carbs. So I don't succumb to every germ that comes my way. However, there are way too many people who can't afford a cold or flu on top of their already fragile health problems.

So, this is for those who think that the world will stop revolving if they don't go to work/school/shopping/etc. - YOU ARE SICK. KEEP YOUR GERMS TO YOURSELF. STAY HOME!

Nita, I'm sure there are many others who share your sentiments. When there are rampant flu bugs going around, makes me glad I work for myself without needing to be around lots of people. So far, I don't think I can catch anything from email.

I'm at work with the sniffles today. I do understand about washing hands frequently and coughing/sneezing into my elbow.

I understand you sentiments completely...really I do . But I am at work today, with a terrible cold. Sometimes it just has to be that way.

Yep, I've had to work with a cold, too. But if you don't work outside the home, if your kids all have snotty noses and you don't have to get them out, or if you really have the flu, then just stay home. And if you have to work, of course you're going to wash your hands often!
