Change in perspective

Posted 01-28-2008 at 10:17 PM by QueenMama

I've been obsessing over the scales. Weighing every day, being discouraged by the up-and-down, up-and-down movement (enough to cause motion sickness!) of the scales. Seeing a lb go, then return.

I started on the original Atkins plan on January 4, so it's been just a bit over 3 weeks, and as of Sunday I've lost 3 1/4 lbs. At first I was just kind of peeved at not seeing consistent losses, but looking at it again, losing this is actually about a lb a week, a very reasonable loss, nice...

If You're Sick, Stay Home!

Posted 01-17-2008 at 11:07 AM by QueenMama

Yesterday we had a woman call, (well, actually, it was her daughter who called for her), who was sick and could not make her appointment. She was told to call when she was well, and we would reschedule. Did she? No, she walked in this morning, still sick, for her appointment. I had time for her, so I went ahead and took care of things. Needless to say, I immediately washed my hands when she left. I wonder if I should have disinfected the papers she brought, that I stuck in her file??? Perhaps...

Some Ramblings on Low Carb

Posted 01-10-2008 at 12:13 PM by QueenMama

It can be confusing when a person decides to try a low carb lifestyle, because there are so many variations.

For example, we hear some who say that you don't have to count calories, just eat until you're satisfied. Others count calores and carbs, and obsess over keeping them both low.

Others feel that we should limit our fat, and choose to eat leaner meats, egg whites or artificial eggs, limit their butter, choose half n half over heavy cream. And then we have the exact...

Starting My Plan

Posted 01-05-2008 at 10:39 PM by QueenMama

Today was day one of my plan. Since it's hard to keep typing "the 1972 original Atkins plan", I think I'll shorted in to OAP.

I was going to start tomorrow, but when I couldn't get my jeans buttoned yesterday, I knew there was little reason to put it off. Keep in mind, I have not gained, I'm at the same weight I was a couple of weeks ago. And I have not eaten any sugar or starches, other than a small bowl of cheese popcorn, in 3 months. I suppose my body fat has shifted,...

Planning my plan

Posted 01-03-2008 at 09:42 PM by QueenMama

Sunday I am going to go back to the original Atkins 1972 plan. It's what has always worked best for me. The first time I lost, this was the plan I used. I dropped 85 lbs, wham! And felt great, too.

So, I'm going to go shopping for all the meat, cheese and eggs I'm going to need, and the salad fixings.

I've started a 100 Day Challenge in the Challenge Thread, and anyone who wants to join me can certainly do so. My challenge is to stay on plan from January 6, to not stray...
