A good day

Posted 03-26-2008 at 04:05 PM by RobTann
Today went well with the food... and I'm grateful for every good low-carb day after months of sugar and refined carb induced "fog".

What's amazing me the most is how fast my body responds to this way of eating - I guess that even through my 5 months of "carb hell" my body did not forget how well it felt and how well it ran on the years of low-carb fuel. This quick shift to more energy and a clearer mind is just helping me to cement my resolve to stay "clean"...

Exercise

Posted 03-26-2008 at 10:25 AM by QueenMama
Exercise - I am not an exerciser, never have been. I was always the slowest runner in my classes at school, wasn't good at any sports, don't even like sports.

So what's a dyed-in-the-wool non-exerciser to do? I have a Gazelle that's gathering dust, a Bean that sits inside the Gazelle gathering dust, dumbbells that might as well be paperweights, and a resistance band that hangs on the closet door. I'm all set, but I lack motivation, and organization.

I know I need to set...

Running (with Scissors?)

Posted 03-25-2008 at 12:42 PM by Mab
I have gotten v. motivated the last few days. We are dog-sitting and taking the dog for the required walks has been a real joy. Which has me thinking about when I was a person who actually enjoyed exercise!

So with that in mind, I am back in the mindset that what really helped me stay thin and feel great was running.

Ok, I am still a big girl. Down to a size 16 but a lumpy, bumpy size 16! (I like to joke about myself! It's ok!)

But the last two days, I have...

Introducing myself

Posted 03-24-2008 at 10:37 PM by RobTann
This is what I wrote to one of my email groups... for those of you who are interested in getting to know who I am...

Robert here, an American man living in Germany. I've joined this group as I am trying to recover from a 5-month spin into "carb hell" with an accompanying 35 lb. weight gain.

My story is really very simple. Life was going along fine, I was maintaining a slender/normal weight for around 2 years (I do a slightly modified version of Schwarzbein)....

Easter Tried to Break Me

Posted 03-24-2008 at 09:42 PM by LifeInMotion
Well, this weekend was one hell of a comfort zone blaster! This was the first Easter that I have not indulged in a bit (okay, A LOT!) of chocolate. It was very challenging and very uncomfortable at times. Four whole days of sitting on my hands and trying not to pay attention to the chocolate surrounding me.

First up was Easter Friday, which wasn’t so bad as I stayed at home and was therefore able to control my food intake. Saturday was much the same, except for the difficult task...
