| | Welcome, Sarah! Glad to have you with us. It's not unusual at all for the first couple of weeks to have more steady losses, with things slowing down a bit afterwards. Specifically, even sticking to plan, it's not realistic to expect losses every single day (but of course, you know this). Besides exercise/muscle, we retain water sometimes, and various other factors can make your weight flux up to several pounds in a day. Make sure you have a variety of ways to check your progress (how you feel, how your clothes fit, measurements, etc.) as well as the scale reading, and yeah, if you are finding yourself disappointed by any one day's scale readout, making your scale checks a little less frequent and looking at the overall trend can, indeed, be helpful. Glad to have you with us! ![]() |

| | Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I am feeling much more optomistic as the day goes on. I was able to get out for a walk on my lunch hour and I'm getting back on track! |

| | Welcome Sarah! Glad to have you join us here. Don't get discouraged, sometimes it looks like you have gained one day, then you can go back the very next day and you have lost. I wasn't seeing my scale going down either after I was losing at a pretty steady clip, so I was disappointed. So I have stopped using the scale and have been using a tape measure instead.......that is the key! Plus, my clothes are getting really big on me. When I look in the mirror though, I don't think I look like I have lost 25 pounds. Yet everyone comments on it and especially my husband. So it must show. Come here for encouragement anytime! ![]() katlupe |

| | Welcome, Sarah. It's probably better to weigh less often, especially after your first few pounds are gone. It's nice seeing the scales moving down, down, down at first, but then we hit a bump, and for whatever reason, and not usually our fault, the scale goes back up a bit. If it causes you concern, then it is time to back off and weigh perhaps once or twice a week. It does seem as though you have thought out your plan, are being realistic about the little bumps & such we hit on this journey. Being realistic is a sure route to success. |
