Oh yeah, Tara, what DARLING pics and what a cute video. She is adorable!!!!! Looks like she might be full of the Dickens.

LOL, Maggie, no offense taken. I am originally a brunette. But since my hair started turning gray at the ripe old age of 16, my hair became mostly white in my 30's. I kept saying when it was all white, I would go blond. I am, afterall, of Scandinavian descent. It's a fitting hair color for me and my Swedish and Norwegian genes. My daughter put together an album of me for the party. There are lots of pics in there of me as a brunette. I should post one of them one of these days (if I can get Rick to take a break and scan it in.) People who have met me after I turned blond won't believe those pics are of me. LOLOLOLOL

Cyn, I LOVE your smilies. How cool is that??? You found one hulaing!!!!

If we can all get our hands on hula hoops, a challenge will be in order. But it's just a matter of timing. I think we'll get something going one of these days. When I finally get mine, I'll post about it and issue the challenge!!! How's that sound????

O-h-h-h Ka-a-a-y, Barb! You start the challenge and I'll go find a hoop somewhere!

I KNEW you were in the D.P. category - not dumb and not blonde. She's one of the smartest business women I know of. BTW, born that way or not, you're wise to have chosen blonde, since it looks great on you.

I compromised and did the front grass yesterday...so at least my house doesn't look so 'ghetto' now. Back and side yards will have to wait for a cooler day! Took dogs to park immediately upon getting home from work this am and gave them a little run before it gets too hot. Then I brought them back and hose-bathed their stinky bods. They're in the back yard drying and glaring at me. They are not happy campers There's a possble gym trip in the future today, if I don't fall asleep. First night shift in 4 weeks, and we were kinda busy.
I am catching up so much on some laundry and drawer/clothes re-arranging that I have been putting off for such a long time. That feels good to get done, but I feel like I have SO many loose ends to tie up before leaving for vacation (Friday the 13th, natch)

Ha Barb, I'm gonna tell him you said that! Nope...he doesn't play a Paramedic/EMS Operations Mgr on TV, he actually is one.

Later, taters!

Ok - I wrote this post this morning and it wasn't here when I checked back. Luckily I have my file copy. LOL

MAggie - LOL at Curves conversation. I bet the secret offer is she won't come near you if you join. HArd to resist that.

TAra - great website! Cute kids, especially the little doll. Couldn't get the .mov to play. That was 120 miles not 180 last month.

Cynthia - Good going on the weights and water.

Mary Kay - Sounds like you've found a good activity. Exercise you like plus opportunities for social contact.

Seesko - Good going on the 5 miles.

HAd another hectic day today. One of my appointments was at teh bank where I waited to see a manager but there was only one not on vacation. I would have had to wait 45 minutes so I left and used that time to walk. Did 3 miles at Tanglewood Park.

Eliz just joined Curves in her area - she got to join for $39, and then the $29 monthly fee. If that is the 'special' offer, it's pretty good. I got in at 1/2 of the registration at $75.

Heck ya, if they have a sign up for $39, I'd definitely go for it, inspite of Ms. Bizzaro. Why cut off your nose to spite your face, eh?

LOL, Tara, that ought to blow up his head a little.

Rob you are the resourceful one, indeed. Are you gonna get any of that Hurricane weather?

Barb - I wrote about the hurricane in my lost post. Guess my file copy was flawed. So far all I've heard is that it's a category 2 hurricane. We got some torrential downpours yesterday but not hurricane winds. Winston-salem is over 200 miles from the ocean so if it even reaches here it is usually much weaker. USUALLY!

I saw on the Weather channel that it's supposed to veer back out into the ocean. I hope it does and doesn't become some kind of stinker slithering its way up the coast. Sounds like you should be okay, with this one!!!!!

I just got back from Curves. I didn't want to leave 'cuz it's so nice and cool there (after cooling down from exercising) and it's a sweltering 91 here with really high humidity. We're supposed to get another cool front, back into the 70's, glorious 70's, but it's taking its sweet time. grrrrrrrrrrr.

There was a group of new girls there when I got there, just learning how to do the machines. They all joined together. I hope they will help motivate each other to keep coming in. They seemed to be having fun, and us "oldies" struck up conversations with them, so hopefully they felt welcomed.

You're right Barb - It's pretty much history but Bonnie is lining up. LOL

Yes, Sky I can't wait to see how Maggie did.

Once again I impress myself. LOL
I went to the lake to walk about 10:00 a.m. and I really ahd a ton of energy. I walked the first 2 miles in 14 minutes and then decided to see if I could beat my old record of 1:53. So I zoomed around the whole lake in 1:44:45. And that was with adding in some extra steps to make it an even 7 miles. It's actually 6.94 miles around the lake. So i manged an average 4 mph. I wouild have done better but that last mile was hell and I slowed down quite a bit.

Rob, you da man!!!!

The front finally came through with a BANG!!! We got a whopper storm last night. It was quite thrilling with the constant lightening and the loud boomers that were rattling the windows. It's a GORGEOUS 70 degrees here today and lowered humidity. We finally got our rider's steering pin fixed so I got out on it for the first time in about 3 years and did some mowing. We won't have to pay $40 every 2 weeks to get the yard mowed anymore!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!! I will have to get out and finish tomorrow and do the edging with the push mower.

Ya, Maggie, how goes it?

Ok. The Curves report:

Well! The lady I met there today, while blonde (LOL!) was certainly not the same person to whom I spoke on the phone. She was intelligent and very nice and we had a nice long chat. We had a hard time deciding on my main two reasons for wanting to do this, since I'm not trying to lose weight and am happy with my energy level. She finally accepted, with good humor, that I was just trying to develop some good habit to offset some of my bad ones.

Once I told her that no matter what the one day special was I probably wasn't going to sign up today, since I'm in a place where it didn't make a huge difference to me and what was more important was me thinking I might actually follow through and do it for the length of my contract. Once the ice was broken, she actually told me that another local franchise was offering a 3 month contract. I was so impressed with that! I told her not to worry, that if I decided to do this, location was VERY important to me, and she had the right location - between my home and my work, so I couldn't use the fact that I had to go out of my way to get there as an excuse.

The atmosphere was very friendly and several women came in and started working out while I was there. No spandex in site and the majority of women were within my age range and seemed very companionable.

The machines are not tremendously challenging in and of themselves, but I can see where you can work them harder or easier as you desire. They don't have that butt kicker you guys were talking about here yet.

By the time we were done talking, she told me that I should check in on September 1st to see what the new "special" would be. LOL! The one they were running currently was 1/2 price to join and the summer was free. She said that wasn't much of a bargain for me since it was already August.

I think that I will do exactly that. I think it might be a good thing.

Meantime, I did to six mini-sessions at work.
