That sounds like a good and positive experience!!!! It's nice she told you that they are having another special in September. Any idea what it is? Did you get to try out the machines? Did you get a free week trial? That would be so cool if you joined, then we could compare notes.

I just gotta tell ya all about this. My stall has broken again. I have started taking Nature's Sunshine's Fat Grabbers. They are mostly psyllium. I think my stall was caused by too much fat intake. But I love my cream cheese and all that and it makes this WOL doable for me. So I will continue to take the Fat Grabbers. I have lost 1.6 lbs in 2 days. WOOOHOOO!!!!!! The psyllium absorbs a lot of the ingested fat and just carries it out of the body. Obviously it seems to be working. I am going to give them a good 2 week trial and see if it keeps up. :jumpgreen

well, I'm getting ready to make a change. Told myself when I reached 40 lbs lost, I would see about going back to Ballys .
I love going to Curves, and will continue to do so, but it has become more aerobic for me than strength/muscle training. I'm doing the machines as hard and as fast as I can, but I still don't get that wonderful 'sore' feeling that would reassure me.
I've still got my membership at Ballys - been going there for the water aerobics - but now I'm going to see about getting on the machines again. I have an appt in the morning with the personal trainer mgr - I should still have some sessions left over that I didn't use last year - if not I'll manage on my own. But I still need a start up training session - didn't do it long enough to be sure how to use the machines without a little refresher.

darn, I may be losing my fauxtato status and have to consider myself being a truly active person one of these days. And it feels good. My 'stall' seems to have let go - only a couple more lbs, but I have increased my carbs up to around 40-60. Its just hard to accept that I now do enough to account for the higher carbs limits.

Barb - I have psyllium husks in my fiber supplement that I never take because odf the nasty texture. If I took this before a real fatty meal would it really absorb some fat?

MAggie - Glad you had a good experience there!

Mary Kay - That's the trouble with exercise, you lose ground if you stand still.

I just did a quick 3.5 mile walk at the lake. The day just got away from me and it was 5:00 p.m. before I knew it. But I pushed myself to do more than teh 2 miles I wanted to do just so I would have an even 25 miles so far in August.

Nope. Yup. Nope.

We will expect a full report on those fat grabbers, Barb!

Mary Kay, I think you might get the award for "most improved" around here. I seem to remember that when you started, your biggest activity was locating and blowing dust off old exercise equipment in various remote regions of your home. You're amazing and and inspiration to me (who's just now thinking about the curves business which you've outgrown!) Fear not, though. However far you stray from the couch, you always have a home here!

Rob, ... ahem... it's only August 5th! ... and you are already up to 25 miles?? Holy bleep! Well, like Mary Kay, I hope you'll still call this a hang-out and keep providing inspiration for those of us ... uhhhh .... more severely challenged or more procrastinating taters.

As for myself, I was in pure tater mode today. I woke up with a pain in my ache and had to go to the dentist, to boot. I have done nothing worth reporting ... unless kvetching counts. If so, I'll take 2 points for self-pity.

Yep Rob, that's the theory anyway. They do seem to work. So if you eat a fatty meal, definitely take your psyllium sups with lots of water and see what happens. If it works for you too, then I think it's the real deal. I keep taking mine and have kept the 1.6lbs off. I like taking them mostly when I have something like homemade icecream, which I make with CREAM instead of milk like the recipe calls for. So it's pretty fatty. The only thing with psyllium is to make sure you don't take them with any other sups, because they will absorb the good stuff and make that leave your body without being utilized. So I have to time it just right to not take them at the same time. I like to wait at least an hour between each sup. That way the vits and such are safely in the beginnings of the small intestine where they are beginning to be absorbed. I take the fat grabbers the same time I eat my meal. (or about 15 mins before so the water gets a chance to leave my stomach.)

Hey Maggie, we're all entitled to a tato day, that's for sure.

MK, you are doing sooooooooooooooo good, girlfriend!!!!

I went to Curves this morning after they let me out of work early. then I finished the mowing, took a nap, cleaned up the playhouse with my daughter, for the party, did some laundry. Busy day!!!!!

Turns out I still have 6 Personal Trainer sessions at Ballys. I've made my commitment to M-W-F at 7am. I used to try to go mid morning, but it was always such an irritant when i was involved in a project - so this way, I go there first, and then back to work. I was worried that time was a madhouse there, but the 6:00 bunch is cleared out by then and it is pretty calm. Meeting with my PT (who was the one I talked to today) Monday morning. Looking forward to it. And I'll have the weekend to 'rest up' for it.
Last time I went, I had a guy PT, and he was good, just didnt feel like he was going to the same direction I was. I like the girl I talked to today, think I opened up to her more than I ever did with the other one.

Maggie - I'll never outgrow this challenge because my basic nature is to be sedentary. All i need to do is let up on myself and I'll be back where I was a year ago. Plus I still haven't gotten the ambition to do the strength training or aerobics I've been promising to do since november. 2 pity points duly noted!

Barb - Thanks for the info. I would only need to take the psyllium at dinner times on nights with fatty meals planned. I take my supplenments after breakfast and some more after lunch. Then a couple at bedtime. Good going on the busy day!

Mary Kay - I'm about at teh same point you are, ready to move up to more resistance training but LAck the motivation. I've been upping the duration and intensity of my walking instead. That's good but when I get used to this level of intensity I will have no place to go. I'm about at the maximum limit on walking.

Desperately needed a brake job so broke down and had that done today. Couldn't bring sophie so I went for a walk while they worked on my car. Did 4.5 miles at a park clsoe to the garage. only other activity was 30 minutes of crying when I saw the bill. Also needed 2 new tires desperately.

I'm such a tato. In my defense (excuse) I have been going nuts getting ready for vacay next friday. So I guess I should count all the laundry and running around the house I've been doing. Gotta count something.

Rob and MK... you guys are making me feel like a mashed tato, I'll tellya. Way to go.

Yep, every time I take my car in for work, it makes me wish I had chosen to go to mechanic school instead.

Maggie...Only ONE tato day? You're not trying hard enough! Good news about your curves visit!

Barb... hmmmm fat grabbers, huh? That and biotin are now on my 'list'!

Wait a minute. I took the dogs to the park this morning. HA. I got a little exercise in spite of myself. I'm kinda stiff right now anyway. BF set the new Columbia tent up in his backyard and we camped out in the yard last night. I love Columbia products. The tent has freaken cup holders!

later, taters!

Well,.... erhhh .... actually, today appears to have been another one. Big activity for the day was defrosting my fridge. There was one lame attempt, though. Since it's downright brisk here right now, I thought I'd go for a walk while the defrosting was taking place. I didn't get very far before I ran into one of my elderly neighbors who asked me in for tea, which I accepted. By the time I was done, I just walked back home. Oh well.

But my freezer looks so nice & clean.

Hey Maggie, I cleaned out my freezer today too!!!!!!! I also cleaned up a bunch of yard debris. Any body got any ideas how to concoct a catapault. We want to lauch toys out into the yard for the kiddos at the party. I'm not too mechanically inclined. Rick's got some ideas, but it's still on the drawing board.

Still taking the fat grabbers. No loss this morning, but what the heck. I keep taking them. and the added fiber is keepin the plummin hummin!!!!

Well, you need a launching arm, on a stable axle. Then you've gotta chose between a spring driving it from behind, or something elastic pulling from the front. ... and of course a latch to hold it in the start position until "fired." Whether you choose a "push" or "pull" design, the force should stop at about 90 degrees - when the launching arm is perpendicular to the base, otherwise you get more like a mousetrap effect, if you know what I mean.

The easy solution is to drive two strong stakes into the ground - really deep! - then staple gun a length of 2 inch elastic webbing (furniture supply place) beween the stakes. Use it like a sling shot.

Ya, we tried to devise a slingshot dealy today, but it wasn't cutting it. (did the stake thing.) We have that elastic tubing they use to tie around your arm when they take blood. (man does that stuff have a lot of spring in it!!!!)We found that at (My Favorite Store) American Science and Surplus. We bought 8 feet of it. We figured out you have to have a stop to keep a catapault arm only going to the 90 degree angle. The problem we're having is figuring out a hinge that will withstand the force once the launching arm is released. They had a "Funalator" slingshot type deal at a local fest for the 4th and we thought that would be a hoot for the kids. (And maybe for the adults with water balloons or something.) It was a HUGE thing that had to be operated by 3 people. (2 people to hold the elastic straps and one to launch the stuff.) We'll ruminate on it for awhile and see what we come up with. Rick should be able to devise something what with his D&D studies and the Thieves Traps type stuff. He's thinking about having an eye hook and rope kind of thing for the hinge. He says a door hinge would just rip right out of the wood. He's prolly right.

Tara - sometimes running around trying to get ready for something eats up more calories than exercise does.

Maggie - That's why I drive to my walks.

Barb - when you get that slingshot set up can you use it to end me some party leftovers? lol

The weather was perfect today and I really wanted to do a fast paced walk but for some reason my legs wouldn't let me get up to the speeds I have been going lately. So I settled for longer walking. Did 5 miles in 90 minutes.

LOL Rob, sure thing. I suppose we can REALLY stretch the thing to its maximum limits!!!! LOL

Ugh, I woke up at 6:30 this morning and got myself off to Curves first thing. Then I came home and went back to bed for an hour and a half. Then Rick and I got out in the yard and did some more yardwork. (It's neverending on an acre and a quarter) Thankfully it was quite cool today. Looks like we are going to be in the 70's again ALL week, even on the party day. WOOOHOOO!!! but we'll see. This cool summer is the only reason we've been able to get so much done in the yard. I hope to keep it up. But, I'm exhausted now. (And I still have to do dishes, make dinner and make another big mess to clean up, grrrrrrrrr)

That BP tubing sounds great! It certainly has more elasticity than the elastic furniture webbing. LOL!

So, if you can hit Rob, then just aim a bit north, and send some goodies this way, as well!

I did about one half hour of mixed stuff, then danced around for a while.
