Hey taters! Just a short note while dh has ds outside.

It seems everyone is doing well! Keep up the great work!

I just finished my 4.5 mile walk and will lift weights when ds goes to sleep. I walked 5.5 yesterday but didn't lift yesterday.

Sure will Maggie!!! LOLOLOL
But I'm not sure you guys would really WANT any of this stuff. It's all junk from the dollar store. (I now have a mental picture of this stuff flying east much like in a cartoon. LOL)

The RSVPS have rolled in. I think there will be about 50 people here at one point or another. I sure hope most of them bring their lawn chairs. I'm getting really excited!!!!!! I am going to put film in my 2 cameras and hopefully there will be lots of pics. I'll post some eventually. I still have to take a pic of the Bean Bag game I painted. I did MY face on it........made 14 bean bags. The goal will be to get 50 bags into the "old bag's" mouth. LOLOL

Gonna try to go to Curves M-W-F of next week and skip going on the day of the party. I plan on taking a nap the morning of the party, so I can be like the energizer bunny that night.

Wow, Barb. Sounds like that's gonna be one heck of a party! (Sounds like Char is offering herself as entertainment!)

Seesko...geez, girl! You're kickin' butt!

Maggie...sounds like you're having fun mixing up your program. p.s. along the lines of your warped Christmas cd, I'd made this comedy cd filled with funny songs -- ranging from G-rated (Mah-na Mah-na) to R-rated (things Yoda would say in bed)...I thought of you the other day when I was listening to it.

Rob...you are my hero. Really. I wish I could get my butt out there as consistently as you do (and so do my dogs, haha)

Mk...keep it up...wow!

Today was a good tato day for me. Fueled by 1/2 a pot of coffee I had before departing work, I attacked my hedges with the clippers. Then, halfway finished, I WOOPS! cut through my 100ft extension cord :( I took it work, where BF fixed it for me , went back and finished. My 18-19 y/o tall neighbor offered to do the high spots for me, so I did what I could reach. I'm gonna have to talk to him about the vodka bottles I found under the hedges though! My garbage can is only 6 more steps further, can't ya throw them in there?!?!?!? Picked more tomatoes and Louisville Slugger-sized zucchinis.
Cut front, back and side yards, cleaned up the dog bombs. I figure I can do that once more Fri am before I leave for the beach. Tomorrow, Tue, Wed, and Thu are house cleaning days! UGH! This place is horrid! Got to get it in decent shape for the pet sitter.

Had a nice long bath, and now I'm gonna go eat some leftover blue-cheese and walnut stuffed porkchops with a huge salad and some -- what else --zucchini!

later, taters!

except for the obvious (or is it oblivious?) low-fat slant of this article, it's got some pretty good info

Char, LOLOLOLOLOLOL I guess I better get out there and find one!!!!

Tara, That is a very interesting article and I think it warrants being put into the Exercise forum and/or the research forum. I'll try to post it in those places. I think a lot of people who are having trouble getting motivated to do ANYthing physical will find that very encouraging. Thank you for sharing that!!!!

My condolences to your power cord!!!!

Curves first thing in the morning - ugh! You are a font of ambition this summer.

Maggie - That article on 10 minute workouts sounds right up your alley.

Seesko - You're doing so great! All that mileage and weight training. I need to start that myself. (been threatening to since November).

Char - Do you know how to use a hula hoop?

Tara - I had to leave sophie home one day this week. I'm wearing her out. If I walk 5 miles she walks 7 or 8, what with the back and forth and in and out of the woods she does. Her paws look like I used a cheese grater on them. I need to get her walking shoes. LOL

I did a fairly brisk 5.5 miles yesterday. The weather was once again milder than we are used to in August. It was delightful to wake up to 55 degrees yesterday (61 today) but the weathr forecast says this is temporary. Heck I'll enjoy every second of days like this.

We found the weighted hula hoops at www.sports-hoop.com. not the cheap kind you used as a kid though. I thought about it, but don't need another thing in my house I won't use, so not really into it yet.

did my Ballys wo this morning - LBWO and abs. She had me using the machines I wanted to before, but the 'guy' trainer was more into the weights. Much better workout - very much like the Curves machines targets, but with heavier weights I could REALLY feel the workout. Then she had me do some 'ball' work for my abs - oh, gosh, felt those TOO!!!!! and I have a ball at home I never used, never could figure out what to do with it, and too lazy to look it up. But I can do these.

meanwhile, probably won't be able to bend tomorrow and we are going to Argosy casino. That's what Motrin is for though.
I'm very glad I decided to hit Ballys again - I can FEEL this workout as far as muscles, heartrate and sweat.

WOW MK, look at your sig weight!!!! You are well on your way to the 180's now!!!!! You GO GIRL!!!!!

Rob, have you ever put anything on Sophie's feet???? It's hysterical. The poor things just don't know what to do at first. Whenever I put socks on Kit's feet (just to be cruel) she did some doggy ballet moves. It was too funny. I tried putting sock type thingies I knitted for her one year (along with a coat) on her feet because she 'bout froze her tootsies off during the winter. But all she would do is stand on the porch and not move and would give me this woeful look. (Like it's embarassing enough if people watch me do my duty, let alone be seen in CLOTHES!!!!) I suppose if I had REALLY been cruel, I would have made her wear them all the time to get her used to it, but I just couldn't keep doing that to her. (She was very tolerant tho.)

Went to Curves today. I have a mess in the yard to clean up right behind my house, but it looks like it might rain. I better get out there soon. Things are shaping up here on the party prep front. The yard has NEVER looked so good. It's amazing what Rick can get done when he sets his mind to it.

Rob -- yes I DO know how to use a hula hoop! Now, KNOWING how and still being able to make it GO are two very different things! I need some practice - about 3 revolutions is all I can make it go at the moment!

Barb, I got mine at Albertsons for $2.99 - no weights but hey, I don't need no stinking weights! I have problems enough making it go around as it is without extra gravity-seeking devices implanted in the dang thing!

Mary Kay, That site is a hoot!

from the instructional page:
Quote:
High speed keeps hoop stay.
I get the impression that these hoops are made/marketed by someone for whom English is a second language. Reminds me of instructions I sometimes get with electronic items.

I wonder if the weighted ones might not actually be better (easier) than the light as air ones, in terms of momentum assisting?

I DO like that 10 minute thing. I can often work up a 10 minute committment.. Today, however, I didn't do any 10 minutes of anything. 3 lousy 20 rep sessions. Bleh!

OH MK what a hoot!!!!! With practice, I think I might be able to make an origami boulder!!!! And the Q&A was hysterical!!!!

YES!!!!! The weighted ones work MUCH better. I have a hard time keeping the "light as air" ones going. I really like the 10 minute idea!!! I have GOT to go buy one. We don't have Albertsons here, but we do have Jewel, which is owned by Albertson's. I still want to try going to Tarczjay or Wally World. I just don't get up that way very often.

I did go into Curves this AM and did hula there.

Mary Kay - Any workout that's good will cause pain the day after you start. But it's a good pain, I think. That o-b site is hilarious!

Barb - LOL @ the dog booties description. Sophie would probably react the same. Though when they give her a bandana at the vet she is so proud of it.

Charski - Good luck relearning a lost skill. I wouldn't even attempt it. I think only females and Elvis can do it.

Maggie - 3 sesssions is better than none. You're just banking your strength for Curves.

You can feel the heat returning today. got up to 85 and was more humid than it had been the past week. So I only did 4 miles at the lake. That made 44 miles so far in August, so I rewarded myself with a Panera Bread low carb asiago cheese bagel. Man was that good toasted with real butter. They also have several kinds of low carb bread loaves available. I didn't trust myself with a whole loaf of breadbut was leaning towards the rosemary walnut.

I'm gonna have to check out the Panera near us. I've been avoiding 'cuz the temptation will be too great!!! What's the carb count on that bagel? Rick might eat those if I don't tell him they are LC. SHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

I used to put a red bandana on Kit (she was black and white) it looked pretty cool on a border collie type mix. She was proud of hers too. (as proud as a dog can be, LOL)

We're getting a whopper of a cool front coming through. The temp high on thurs. is supposed to be 67!!!!! But it's supposed to warm back up nicely to about 75 for the party with low humidity. That will be perfect!!!! Hopefully you will get some of this nice weather soon!!!
