Did great yesterday. The biggest accomplishment was no eating after dinner for three days straight! I was at 1042 calories and 42 net carbs. I really need to find a way to bring that count down to around 35. I also drank lots of water. All in all it was a good day.

Rob - that's alot of gouda! When you feel that hungry do you try and drink water first? Just a thought. At least you made low carb choices!

Thanks for the invitation, Glory! Well, yesterday for some reason, I had no energy. We went out for dinner and I had a LC plate, but up a pound today. I think that restaurant food has too much salt . . . so I am putting it down to water! Also, I think my calorie count was too low yesterday . . . 1250. I do better around 1350-1400.

I'm back in the challenge. Since last month I have begun logging everything into fitday. I realized that my carbs were getting a bit too high at 40-50 so I have cut back to around 30. My calories are suppose to be under 2450 for my weight. That is way too much or course so I try and keep them around 1500-1700. If I eat less I don't feel great and if I eat more I feel overwhelmed. This WOE has really curbed my appetite.

Alida and Noel - So glad you are on board. The more the merrier! So far today I am doing great on plan. Tonight is busy!! I will be playing the taxi driver for the kids and running all over town. I have not been snacking after dinner at all. That is one of my biggest challenges - then I would overdo it with nuts or move on to high calorie/carb treats my family is having. This is the worst time of year for me. Every holiday is centered around food! I have challenged myself to stick with it this month. The only one who can change my behavior is me. Today I saw the scale finally begin to move, evidence that I am making the right choices for me.

I too am dreading the food filled holidays. I am planning on making a couple low carb sides and dessert bars to go with me where ever I end up so I can contribute but also have something I can eat. I had the skeptic in the office tell me yesterday that I could cheat every once in a while and so I could eat whatever on Thanksgiving. I had to explain to her that I could not cheat because it throws off my whole system and puts me into a tail spin for days afterwards. Cravings, sleepiness, etc.

I've been looking through my fitday and wanted to post some carb/calorie numbers and I will start keeping track here.

Sunday: 47 carb/1288 cal
Monday: 34 carb/1288 cal (funny, the same calories, totally different foods)
Tuesday: 34 carb/2160 cal (bad day, went way too high on calories)
Wednesday: 32 carb/1667 cal

So my goal for the month is to stay between 30-35 carbs and under 1700 calories. And I am going to try not to have any more days over 2000 at all. I am just glad I didn't get into the office candy when I had my bad day.

Just had dinner and added in my dinner values and I came up with a whopping 969 calories for the entire day. I checked and rechecked to make sure that I hadn't left anything out and I still came up with the same. My net carbs are at 39. Not too bad. The funny thing is that I feel full and I don't want anything else today. Is that bad? I guess I could have some pecans but I really don't want to. Oh well, off to fill the water bottle!

Oh no! I bought myself some almonds yesterday and took them to work. They threw off my whole day. I had too many. The final results, 40 carbs for the day and 2096 calories. So much for staying under 2000 and around 35. Well, I am not going to let it get me down. I will just do better tomorrow and keep teh nuts for another day that I am not having so many calories and carbs otherwise.

Last night while watching ER I had about 1/4 cup of pecans. It brought my total to 1156 for the day. Still not too bad. Saw the scale move again this morning!!! Good luck today - keep on counting!!!

May I join your challenge? I am jumping back on the LC bandwagon after 2 months of doing lowfat/highcarb with WW. I realize that LC is what I need to do, but I need to control it better. How do you do this challenge?

Robin

Welcome, Robin, here we count carbs as well as calories. Glory could probably fill you in better. But I find it helpful to be accountable every day. Then I can see were I screw up.

I did much better today, still had a few almonds but kept better portion control and used less in other areas. I found a turkey sausage today at the market that will work better for me than the polska keibasa I've been eating. And it's low carb and 1/3 of the calories.

So I ended up with 1447 calories and 37 carbs.

Welcome Robin

This is a pretty free form challenge. You set a goal of calories and net carbs and challenge yourself to stick to your goal. Do you use www.fitday.com or another food tracking program? You'll need to start using one if you don't already.

Did 1446 calories and 25 carbs. I may have a snack later but right now I don't think so. I should have one more serving of veggies but I'm not going to force it in if I don't get hungry.

:great: Welcome Robin!!! So glad to have you on board! All of us here are tracking are carbs and calories. I have found that in the past even when I was eating on plan I was consuming way too many calories. The link that Rob posted is a great site for tracking and it is FREE!!! The main thing that I have learned is the calories DO count! I was amazed when I first started logging my food in fitday that I was consuming 2000+ calories! When I stick to 1200 to 1800 calories I am able to see the scale move in the right direction. I am so glad to have you with us. Keep us posted on your progress.
