Maggie - I know what you mean about feeling so much better after working out. Felt like crud all day saturday after skipping my walk.

Barb - Good job on going to Curves! Yes that Cat in heat ounding like a baby is eerily weird.

Noel - Yes take advantage while you can. It won't last taht much longer. Which is what's killing me about being sidelined with my toe.

Some will applaud me, most will think me an idiot! I wrapped my toe in a ton of gauze and taped it in place. Then I rummaged through my closet and found an old pair of walking shoes that are a size bigger than I wear now. It worked fairly well and I was able to walk by using my heel to pivot on my bad toe foot. Did 2 miles at the lake. Surprisingly my toe, whiel still in pain, is feeling much better thsi morning. I put on some triple antibiotic cream and left the bandages off while I slept.

figured you would find a way, Rob. Good for you.

glad you guys are getting to Curves. I plan to hit the water aerobics Th night, and back to Ballys Friday morning. I am seeing an asthma/allergy dr Thursday and having tests done, and they prefer I not use my inhaler for a couple days before if I can avoid it. no way to avoid it if I try to do something exerting myself, so just waiting it out.
Am doing induction for the next 2 weeks, my daughter wants to start Atkins(actually, my husband challenged her to) - so going to go through it with her. I need a jumpstart anyhow.

Hey taters

(Rob, thanks for dragging me out of the woodwork)
I've been around, just haven't felt like posting much, as I haven't been getting regular exercise or eating very well. Didn't want to show up every day and post "Drank coffee, then went to work" as my activity. I have to re-induct starting today. I have been eating crap, and therefore feel like crap. I'm very sorry about your toe, Rob, I can't imagine how painful that must be. And you still go out walking. Nut! Maggie, wow! You're sticking with Curves! I better get up off my butt! MK, glad to see you are able to get back into your activities. You did it once, you can do it again (same goes for me). Barb, consistent as ever. Noel, good to see you, too.

I promise, I won't be such a stranger.

Tara! Good thing you're back! I didn't want to have to do a cyber-hunt to try and track you down when it's getting time to send out my holiday cd!

Yeah, I can't believe I'm actually doing this, myself. I've come to think of it as some kind of Prozak for me. I went today because it's Monday, even though I was "officially" off. Go figure!

Mary Kay, you go girl! It was you and Barb that got me into this curves thing and for that I'm grateful. (Most days, LOL!) I wish your dd all the best and I know she'll have a good teacher.

I'm glad I went on that walk yesterday. It's goingto be cruddy the rest of the week into the weekend. Not really that cold but dreary.

Tonight I got through the warm up, four aerobics sections and four toning sections for 30 minutes of the exercise video. The sections are like 3 minutes a piece so it's a good variation of moves. The fourth aerobics section was just a lot of me jumping around as I could not exactly keep up. This is a good point to start doing all the time and master before I move on. And it'll give me my recommended 30 minutes a day for now until I can add more.

Mary Kay -Nothing like company on this woe to get you restarted. It's coming at just the right time for you, I think.

Tara - No problemo! Glad you resurfaced. Remember no activity is too small it can't qualify you to post in this thread!

Noel - Cruddy weather makes it hard to do outdoor activity. But with a bab it's doubly hard. Cool on the 30 minutes aerobics. Your progress is going very well.

Nothing to report activity wise. Just took it easy yesterday. The hardest thing I did was cook a turkey breast. Today I definitely plan to walk. My toe is feeling a lot better today. Sophie stepped on it yesterday and I had to restrain myself from beating her. She keeps looking at me like she's evaluating my disability. I know what she's thinking : With that limp I could take him and be the lead dog! Ha! I'll never give her the pin number to my debit card!

LOL, Rob, I don't know if a dog would know what to do with a PIN #, but I suppose if they could use it, what would stop them from going to the nearest PETCO or Petsmart!!!! LOL 2 miles is better'n'nuthin.

TARA!!!!!! We've missed ya girl!!!!!! Welcome back!!!

I am still contemplating re-inducting myself. I've been slowly eliminating things (LC-wise) and trying to get back to basics. It's tuff. MK, it's great that your DD is going to give it a go!!!!!

Noel, sounds like you're actually ENJOYING your activity!!!!

Maggie is just as consistent as I am now, if not more so!!!1

I dragged myself to Curves today immediately after work. I'm glad I got it over with 'cuz if I'd gone home I would have promptly thrown myself into bed and taken a nap.

If Brutus got my PIN# he'd probaly make me money by investing my salary in good, blue-chip, investments.

... now, the Gang of Three, on the other hand .... they'd probably hire a new "human" who was more generous in the "cream sharing" area!

I had to "short circuit" my curves circuit, today. :( TN ("The arthritic kNee" - as in left knee) arose as a problem. Since I've learned not to try to "work through" this problem, I did my last circuit skipping all knee-involved stations and stretches and being very gentle at my recovery stations. Rest and ibuprofen have been the agenda of the evening. Hopefully, by tomorrow, I'll be back to my usual level of discomfort.

Hey taters...

Had a pleasant day of walking around downtown Pittsburgh, showing BF's cousin, in town from FLA, the sights. We went camping last weekend, the state park was just beautiful. I bet the fall color is even better this coming weekend. Going to take BF's cousin downtown again tomorrow to see some more sights and ride the incline, then he has to work tomorrow evening, so she and I will be watching the debate with the rug rat.

(Shudder...thinking of what havoc would be wrought if my dogs got hold of my pin #s -- especially that 'angel' in the avatar!)

If Kitty got a hold of the PIN she'd take all her little neighborhood friends out and blow all my cash.

Barb, I guess I am starting to enjoy the aerobics. Well, at least how it makes me feel.

Tonight I had a friend over for dinner and made broiled salmon with lemon and a warm green bean-tomato dish with crumbled feta...mmmm. It was good. My first low carb dinner with a friend. She really enjoyed it too.

Ayhow after she left at 9:20 I thought oh I have to clean and can't do the aerobics. Then I thought, oh now it's too late. I was so wired after doing them late last night. Then I thought, oh the little cut on my finger hurts. Finally I just put in the tape on and did it. And was glad I did. I'll be up a little later winding down but I got in my 30 minutes and actually felt good taking out the trash afterwards.

I must admit that the thought of not having anything to write here also motivated me. I am really trying to reach my goal of doing something every day.

Maggie - Blue chips? Don't ya mean brown chips.
Get that knee better! By now you know how best to treat it.

Barb - Yes Sophie would head straight to Petco and buy a sack of budgies. Cages? we don't need no stinkin cages!

Tara - Is the Incline a trolley? Looks interesting. Nothing tires me out more than sightseeing.

Noel - yes it's embarrassing having to write that you did nothing considering how forgiving this challenge is about what constitutes activity.

I walked 2 miles yesterday. That's about all i can manage right now, though my toe feels tremendously better barefoot. Putting on shoes is still a bit painful. I'm going to try to get back to daily walking by the weekend. Until then I'll do 2 miles every other day. It's raining today so I'm glad it's the "off" day. May have to revise my goal miles for this month.

Maggie, are you saying Brutus is a very intelligent dog? LOL
Tara, I've never seen ANY photos of Pittsburgh and have never been there either. Looks like an interesting city!!!!
Noel, you're catchin the fever!!!!
LOL Rob.............brown chips.

I went to Curves yesterday and am going to go again today since I have to work Sat morning and won't be able to go then. I HATE working on Saturday!!!!!
If Kit had ever gotten ahold of my PIN# she would have headed straight for the nearest chocolate store and bought them out. It didn't matter where I stashed chocolates, she always found it (unless it was in the frig). Luckily it was never enough to make her toooooo sick.

Thanks Barb for the challenge - I may be late starting, but better late than never. I am going to try to get my heart rate up twice a day. Since I'm stuck in a wheelchair for a while while my ankle heals my exercise opportunities are limited. But I can do arm work and lay on my back and get the legs going. (I've been doing some of this but haven't been too faithful.) I don't want to lose muscle strength in my legs while I recover so I had better get more serious.
Good for you Maggie - "Curves" really does just what it says! Well, this tater is willing to commit to sizzling a little (even if it is limited right now).

I'm soooo tired. It's a good thing I got my aerobics done early. Did the 30 minute workout. Now to go to bed. So sleepy.
