Ahhhhh, I'm feeling better today, and I think the echinacea REALLY helped a LOT. But alas, today is sunday and Curves is closed. Not sure I'd really feel up to going today anyway, but tomorrow, health willing, I'll stop in after work. We'll see. I haven't been since last Weds.

I did get my aerobics in last night when the baby was still awake but he was hanging around my feet so I did a little stumbling. But then he found himself fascinating while looking in the large mirrored closet doors so I had a strong finish.

I am going to allow myself one day a week of "rest". Of course when TOM is here I may not feel like doing anything so we'll see. Maybe during that time I'll get walking in instead. But I definitely won't let the lazy bug bite me again. I have seen too much progress with the aerobics the last week and a half.

The baby is napping right now so I should have at least another hour and a half so I will go do aerobics now then I will still have time to take my shower and get ready for the day. Yeah, it's 1 and I'm in my workout clothes and haven't washed my hair yet. Lazy Sunday. I didn't even get to church. But after the aerobics I will feel more like getting out.

Rob, I hope your knees have survived your house-sitting weekend and that your poor nail-less toe is feeling better by the day.

Barb, sounds as if your cold is on the way to being over!

Noel, You are headed for the "most improved spud" award this month! You are turning into a couch fauxtato samurai! You go girl!

Oy. I don't like how I'm getting my exercise.

Toting a combative 250lb o.d. patient down 3 flights of steps (after wrestling him into restraints so I didn't get bitten or punched)...

Giving my 85lb, unwilling, dogs a bath in my bath tub.

Cleaning. Laundry. :(

Did you guys miss my whining?

On the positive side, the dogs and I took a nice pre-bath walk to the park. Much needed for them (they're not as lucky as Sophie, their mommy is a BUM)

So now I'm sitting here, soakin' wet from the bath the dogs gave me...taking a break. The re-induction is finally getting on track, and I must be getting back into ketosis, otherwise where the h*ll is this energy and ambition coming from???!!?? (Did I mention I cut back to 1 cup of caffeinated coffee per day??!)

I'll bet that energy IS from ketosis. Enjoy it.

You've got lots to count there! Overpowering large unwilling dogs and larger drug crazed people ... yup. I call that activity!

Mary Kay - consider your butt kicked! Actually why not do an alternate exercise for the one week,. It seems too difficult to get used to BAlly's and then get un-used to it when you're away. Why not just do something like walking (or refrigerator moving)?

Barb - Definitely sleep is a healer! Now wake up and get to Curves!

maggie - I try to make all sorts of excuses not to walk but there's that part of me that sees the benefit in how much better I feel, and kicks me out the door.

Noel - Remember that mirror trick! At least with my dog and cat I can throw them both outdoors unattended (sophie on a chain). I don't guess you can do that with a baby? LOL

Tara - Washing the dog is one of least favorite chores. She 's good about it because her second owner (i'm her third) used to beat the **** out of her when she tried to get away. Now she loves baths but I hate them. especiallty the part where she dives into my bed and rolls around to dry. I try to bathe her on sheet changing day (and mattress turning day).

The house sitting job ended a half day early when the owners decided to come back saturday night instead of Sunday morning. So saturday I only got in about a mile of dog walking. But yesterday I went to the lake and did the full 7 miles around! It was such a beautiful fall day that after 10 minutes I turned off my stopwatch and slowed my pace. It was a restorative walk for the soul more than my body.

actually, I made it to Ballys this morning!!! didn't make all the way through all the things on my legs program, but at least did one rep on everything. And managed all the abs work (my weakness). So, feeling okay, but a little drowsy now.

Still waiting on DH to get his butt in gear so we can get the fridge moved back. We got some crappy wood trim they put down when they did the floors that we have to figure out how to deal with first. paint, stain, pull up and see if we can just grout those areas instead. It's plain unfinished wood nailed to the molding at the bottom. It's really crappy looking, but we can't quite decide how to handle, and it goes down the wall where the fridge goes, so we are on hold.
well, 2 weeks until they come to install the carpeting, so something has to be done. DH is off this week, hope he gets something accomplished - lately it seems like chair warming is all he wants to do.

MK, you'll sure get a workout doing that home improvement.

Yeah, Rob, can't tie the baby up but if he really gets in the way his "jail" is a saucer bouncer with some toys on it that keep him occupied.

Tonight I did the Walk Away the Pounds DVD I bought this weekend. It's actually higher intensity than my aerobics. I think because it's constant moving and the aerobics switches from aerobic to toning. I did the 2 mile brisk walk. It's 30 minutes, so it fits right in with what I want to do. I took my pulse all through it and did stay in target range. I will alternate between the aerobics and WATP, doing different ones depending on how I feel.

I am still in Tater mode. I just could NOT muster the energy to go to Curves today. I'm almost over this cold already, but not 100%. So I gave myself permission to pamper me after work today. I'm hoping to go tomorrow.

Noel and MK, GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!

I'm happy to say I'm off the couch! Almost 2 weeks ago I was saying in the newbies forum I need to get active. For the past week I walked 35 minutes everyday. Man could I use a tube of Aspercream for my roots. :-)

Allright, MK! Home improvement PLUS Bally's! You're cookin.

Noel, you're still in the lead for "most improved." I love your baby control device!

Rob, sounds like your foot is healing nicely.

Welcome, Ed! Keep on truckin!

I started my week by draggin my sorry (but somewhat less baggy, LOL!) butt to curves yesterday. I concentrated on working hard on the machines and really "recovering" on the recovery stations.

Mary Kay - Good going! I hope you get your kitchen back in place. I vote for painting that kind of molding. It is cheap but with a couple coats of good paint it will look just fine.

Noel - That sounds like the perfect plan for winter. I might just steal that idea for my january/February hibernation period

Barb - Get thee to Curves today!

edoggie - Glad you could join us! Good going on the walking!

I was a complete Tater yesterday also. So Barb you have every right to tell me to get thee walking! Darn cat was hanging out by my car's back tire and wouldn't get away. I was too lazy to fish out my keys to put her inside the house so I took her with me in the car. I figured a quick trip to Home depot and back home wouldn't take but 20 minutes. BAd idea. She sat in my lap and tried to climb out my window the whole time. My drivers side window doesn't roll up. When i got back to the car after shopping she had jumped out and there was a home depot employee trying to capture her so she wouldn't get hurt. We ended up chasing her all over the place and finally he grabbed her. Sophie got such a kick out of the whole episode.

Rob, sounds like you got some exercise anyway!!!!! Time to get the window fixed???

I have my workout clothes packed and will go directly after work (that is if they don't send me home early), so I will get myself to Curves.

Maggie you are inspiring me.

WELCOME Ed!!!! It's great to have another tater joining in!!!!

Did my curves gig again. The best thing is that, when I got home, some of the fruits of my massive shoe buying spree had arrived.

You know how they say never to go grocery shopping when you're hungry? Well, it's true with shoes, too.

Here, I found myself facing the oncoming cold winter with 12 pair of sandals and 1 pair of boots that could serve for another year, a pair of sneakers dyed green from grass and 1 pair of dress maryjanes (in black) that were on their last legs, so to speak. (Can you tell that I hate to wear shoes by this mix? )

I needed shoes for work and some kind of exercise shoe for curves. Since I only wear flats, the sandals and maryjanes have served so far, but I knew that when boot season arrived, I'd need some exercise shoes. Sneakers are not an option. I hate them, except for yard work, where my feet need some protection. I'd rather exercise barefoot - like when I'm belly dancing. Complicating matters, I have small feet, but need to get a wider last as a consequence of a fracture of many years ago that left me with a pain in the joint where a lot of people get bunions. I don't have a bunion, but that joint will not tolerate pressure, so I go for a wider shoe.

In my "shoe hunger" I ordered 4 pair of shoes for work from a place that carries my oddball size. Then I found a place on ebay that sells kung-fu slippers for only a few bucks apiece. These have a nice rubber sole and an all fabric upper with a strap over the instep. Wearing them is as close to being barefoot as one can get. They only come in medium width, but since it's only fabric on top, it doesn't matter. My feet aren't wide, just have a sensitive spot on one of them. I got a whole assortment of these babies. Today I received two pair of my work shoes and a whole box of kung fu slippers and everything fits perfectly.

I'm in shoe heaven! I can bring a different pair of kung fu slippers to curves every day for a whole week!

The best part is I probably won't have to think about shoes for another two years. I really hate shopping.
