Barb - YES! Good going on getting thee to Curves!

Noel - Doing good at 30 minutes already!

Another cra**y day. High only about 60 but humidity at 90% with occasional mist. Not walking weather. I was so wanting to put the heat on and go to bed. But I thought to myself - self, If you wimp out now what are you going to do in January and February. So I made a vow to myself that not only would I go for a walk but I would do the full 7 miles around the lake. It was unpleasant as He** for the first half hour but then I warmed up from the walking. I'm at 76 miles for the month but on this date last month I was at 90 miles. I'm Ok with that. In winter I will be lucky to reach 70 miles a month.
I need to start that aerobics tape I've been trying to start for about a year now. Or some other form of exercise. Maybe I need a WATP dvd?

Hi Taters!!!!
well, didn't do much this week, next week is VEGAS, BABY!!! lots of running around, and I don't think food will be a problem.

and, Nov 1st is the start of Phase II - past my first goalline (Vegas trip), moving towards the next (Bike week, March 2005) I would like to be in the 150s, and TONED!!

Focus is on the TONED for Phase II. Nov1 - back to Ballys with a vengence. At 182 this morning (got my 50lb mark) - well, 182.5, but the .5 are the fake nails I got for the trip, right?

Glad Curves is working out for you Maggie, hope you had a wonderful birthday.

Rob, yeah, nasty weather makes it hard for those outdoor walks. Try the WATP - Its fairly decent - not like the real walking, but not so hard that you won't enjoy it. Poor Sophie, you need to get her a treadmill.

Barb - stick with the Curves, no letting up now.
Noel, glad you are here. This bunch will keep you in line (or at least sympathise when you slip a little)

Love ya all. off to finish packing. We have reservations at the Prime Steakhouse in the Bellagio hotel for the fancy dress up night. Not just a steakhouse from the pictures. Lush, formal, really looking forward to it. And Wednesday, we are walking down to the Penn & Teller show. Otherwise, it's work sessions....

I can relate to the problems of "batch cooking" LOL! If it's something I like too much, I try to make the smallest amount possible. I won't eat it all at once, I'll just make 27 trips back to it for a "tiny bit" until it's gone.

MaryKay, Congrats! (Of COURSE it was the nails. ) have WONDERFUL time in Vegas. We'll miss you! Pop in if you get access to the web and have a minute. Othewise, we'll see ya when you get back.

Noel, I hope your thigh is feeling better now! You're doing great.

Barb, good work finding your way back into your groove!

Rob, don't forget to give us a "review" if you try out a tape or DVD.

Got my whole week's worth of Curves in again.

What's up, taters?

Just got over strep <----felt like that little red angry guy was stuck in my throat. Not to be graphic, but it's wonderful to be able to swallow my own saliva again! Eating well. Had a couple days where I choked down what I could, and didn't care what it was (BF made home made tuna noodle casserole for me, had noodles and crackers and other junk in it. But yummy.) My theory was, the 103 fever burned up the carbs pretty quickly.
Back to normal, health wise and eating wise. Took the dogs for a nice walk to the park yesterday. Taking them out today. Start days again Monday, and guess what I'm gonna try to do again! Yep. Gym before work. One of these times it'll stick. The only nice thing about being sick is I always lose a couple nagging pounds. That put me back to my sig weight, and I don't want em back! Trying to get 30# down by the end of March (Hilton Head trip).

Have fun in Vegas, Mary Kay!

Rob, you'd have to jump to the highest # of miles right away, you're such a strong walker.

Happy Birthday, Maggie.

Glad you're over the strep Tara.

I got the WATP DVD in today, the 2 miles, 30 minutes. I just needed that little break. I will alternate the workouts for now so that won't happen again.

MAry KAy - the Bellagio sounds wonderful! I'll just have to take sophie for a walk behind the supermarket. That's always been one of her favorite walks anyway. Lots and lots of food and animal smells.

Maggie - Yes, I once ate a 9 x 14 inch deep dish pizza making about 30 trips to grab a 2 inch square. The reasoning was that at least I got some exercise walking to the kitchen and back.

Noel - Yes I think you're right. I would have to start at the advanced level. Are there different Watp's available by difficulty?

Tara - You poor thing! Glad you're feeling better. mmm noodles.

I was having abdominal pains yesterday and almost didn't walk. But you know me - so I did 3 miles anyway. Come to realize that the pains were from the pants I found in the very back of my closet yesterday. They were very tight but I was thrilled I could zip them up so I wore them. MAn was it a relief when I took them off. LOL

Rob, there are different levels. I have the beginners 1/2. That has a one mile walk and then a seperate two mile walk. I don't know how high they go but they advertise a four mile walk at the beginning of this one. I'm guessing that if the 2 mile walk plus the stretching after is a half hour than the four mile would be close to an hour. I know you usually walk more than that but I don't know if they go higher. I didn't buy a stretchy band because I didn't know about them when I got the DVD. That's what they use for the arm toning. You don't have to have it. I ended up grabbing a very thick, ribbed extra long length of elastic I had in my sewing box and doubling it over. My aunt was suppose to bring me a couple different stretchy bands (she's an OT) a month ago but she canceled and hasn't rescheduled.

I'm goofy in the head. I was going to do aerobics today but started with WATP before I realized I had done it yesterday. Modified it slightly at the end so as not to strain my legs muscles. I like it better than the aerobics and feel I get more of a workout. But the aerobics has toning sections so I think it would still be good to do. I picked up some weights a tenant left at one of our houses. (I get more neat stuff like that!) They are some 8 pound dumbells and some very light hand weights, I think they are one pound, perfect for the toning aerobics. I left teh ankle weights because husker had said before that they can strain your knees and I had enough problems with the knees. They are finally getting better, I don't need to add to the stress. So I did the 2 mile-30 minutes. Feel good now.

That sounds to be about equivalent to a "curves session." I'm in and out of there within 40 minutes, 5 minutes of which is streching. I treat it differently for each session. Some days I aim at a heart rate and on others I just work the machines as hard as I can and really "recover" on the recovery stations. So I guess some days are more aerobic and some days are more weight training.

Maggie - That's good that you mix it up with aerobic days and weighttraining days. That's what a lot of fitness "experts" say to do.

I need to do something similar and really have been saying that for a year now. grrrrr. walking seems to be the only thing that I like to do (and like may be too strong a word). I forced myself to skip my walk yesterday but I did spend a good hour walking around the farmers market.

My neice is going into the hospital at this very moment and they'll induce labor sometime soon if she doesn't go into labor by herself. She started bleeding lat night and they said that usually means delivery within 24 hours. Hailey Furnas is about to BE.

AAAAAAAACK!!!!!!! Maggie, I missed your b-day!!!!!!!!!!! (only 3 days late.) well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Phooey!!! Oh well, better late than never!!!! Hope you had a nice day!!!!

Today was my LAST day at In The Swim, so now I'm back to being a woman of leisure. I will march myself down to the unemployment line tomorrow morning as early as possible ( I think they open at 8) and then go to Curves afterward. Then it's onto painting some plastic skulls with a crackle finish and doing a gray wash on them. I've done one already and it really makes it look gruesome and old. How FUN!!!!!! Now this week I'll be a mad woman finishing the decorations for the Halloween party.

Rob, if you can keep walking in inclement weather, I can get me to Curves!!!!

Noel, I'm so proud of you.........you are doing GREAT!!!

Mk, have a BLAST on your trip!!!!! It's a much deserved vacation!!!!

Tara, glad you are feeling better. (knock on wood, I've NEVER had the "pleasure" of strep and hope I never do!!!!!)

Thanks for the review, Noel. It's good to have such information. Come winter there may be some days I just don't want to delay getting home due to the weather. I'll need to settle on some other form of activity to keep up the habit.

Thanks, Barb. It was just another busy day ... except for the great wishes from my fellow members and the carb free "party" I found in my office when I got in on Friday! What a great bunch of people I work with!

I'm one tired tater, today. Up long before light to make a school delivery run for a friend's son and on to work where, it seems, no matter how much extra time I devote to it I'm only managing to stay barely current. I can't WAIT for a new judge to get installed here and return to the merely demanding work flow. :(

I still made myself go to curves after running a grocery errand for a friend that's laid up after work. I'll admit I didn't work as hard as I sometimes do, but it seemed important to keep up the pattern.

Barb, you're so crafty. When DS is older I look forward to doing fun things for Halloween. The crackle paint will look great.

I didn't think I would do the full 30 minutes today of aerobics but I felt surprisingly good and I want to lose that last pound before Halloween despite tom. So I will try to do as much as I can each day. If I feel yucky then I'll cut back a little.

Hey taters.

Not much to report lately. Busy at work, back on days. If I get to bed early enough, I may try to gym it before work. Should have done it this am, dogs woke me up at 5 to go out

Thanks Noel - It sounds like WATP is definitely going on my shopping list. There are always days and sometimes weeks where outdoor walking is impossible. And mall walking near Christmas is unthinkable. Good going on getting fit for your tapes.

Barb - You can be forgiven any lack of exercise while getting your incredible halloween party together.

Maggie - Sounds like you've been busier than a bartender on payday. But any day that begins and ends with a good deed is a good day indeed!

Tara - Get Thee to the GYM! See even the dogs want you to go.

I walked 4 miles at the lake. I've lost a little of my speed since the toenail incident. Not much but maybe 30-40 seconds per mile. But it's irritating that I can't seem to get it back.

Hope you're having fun in Vegas MK!

Well, I'm tired again, this time no good deeds were involved. I just had a 3AM wake up call from nowhere in particular and that was it. I was up.

I did use the time looking into a particularly perplexing contempt issue and found the answer to my question. Indeed, I felt as if I could write an article about contempt. LOL! However, by then it was time to go to work and now I'm just beat, and can hardly remember all those great insights I had right before dawn. ROTF!

I did go to curves and, while I had a problem with my knee (THE "GOOD" one! :( ) interestingly, none of the machines were bothering it. It was only when I got on the recovery stations that the stupid thing kept going out on me. By the time I got home, it was fine. Go figure.

Now, my mission is to try to stay awake for another little while, so I have less chance of repeating my early rise for no f'in reason routine.
