Default Couch Fauxtato October Activity Challenge

New month and new challenge. This time, maybe, I've found something that I'm willing to do EVERY DAY! I fear that if I weren't part of a challenge, I wouldn't do squat. LOL!

Welcome, fellow couch fauxtatoes, to the "Couch Fauxtato October Activity Challenge."

Not usually into challenges? Don't want to tie yourself to a particular weight or size result? Intimidated by more traditional Exercise Forums? Do you, perhaps, have a treadmill that has clothes hanging on it? ... hmmm? But are you, perhaps, willing to contemplate a modest expenditure of activity with a short term commitment?

Then this is the place for you!

You decide what your challenge is, since you know yourself best. It could be taking the stairs at work, so many times per week, or if you're in the right climate, going for a walk at lunch time. No challenge is too small or too odd! Then we'll check in every so often and compare notes.

Define your own challenge! Try it for a month.

*****LISTEN, FELLOW SLUGS AND SLOTHS, THIS IS IMPORTANT. A TRUE COUCH FAUXTATO CANNOT JUST LAUNCH HIM OR HERSELF OFF THE COUCH AND INTO AN INTENSIVE EXERCISE PROGRAM! Now, I realize that, for most of us, there's little chance of that. We are often also great procrastinators and most of us will take our sweet time dusting off tapes and/or looking for long burried exercise equipment, and will be adjusting our activity to whatever feels ok, especially to begin with. However, GET CLEARED, MEDICALLY, FOR WHATEVER CHALLENGE YOU ARE PLANNING FOR YOURSELF! Then proceed in a rational manner. Work into it slowly!*****

I WILL get back to exercising next week. I'm going nuts. This week was planned, but the root canal and throat cold both pretty much took me out of anything. I'm going to need a stress relief - today my business is official. have my own federal ID number (waiting on the state to do its thing to guarantee the trade name) - and already getting hit with multiple new projects (cha-ching) - but s~t~r~e~s~s~

Barb - Thanks for opening the October challenge!

Mary Kay - Glad you got the ball rolling on your business so quickly.

I managed to walk 4 miles at WFU yesterday but it was a thoroughly miserable unpleasant day. You know the foggy hazy gonna rain any minute kind of day. where air qualiy is so bad you have a headache all day. And more of the same today - lucky me. My goal for October is once again 100 miles.

No problemo Rob!!! I was happy to do it. If you guys get any of this front that has come through, your temps will deflate, but the air will clear out. It's a f-f-f-f-f-freezing 44 out there right now. I'm soooooo bummed.

Barb - Definite weather change coming here soon with lows in the upper 40's. But the highs are forecast to be mostly in the low to mid 70s for the next 10 days.

Maggie - We miss you!

I was feeling so low energy yesterday I had decided not to walk. But around 3:30 I just figured if I got out there and started walking I would get the energy, And sure enough it worked. Did 4 miles at the lake. Having an electronic oven is great. I stuck some seasoned chicken in my oven and set it to start 30 minutes after I left and continue for an hour and shut off. Arrived back home 15 minutes after it went off. It was chicken legs so they stood up well and were really tasty. Must remember that. Normally the smell of cooking chicken drives me crazy (and the dog too).

Okay where is everyone? have you all just grown tater eyes and won't leave the couch?

Yesterday was a repeat of saturday. I decided not to walk yesterday because i had spent about 6 hours just catching up on emails and stuff. But about 3:00 I just got up and went. Plus I remembered that I had to stop by the library because they had called me to tell me that one of the Dvd's I checked out was empty. LOL. SO I ended up doing just 3 miles in the Winston-Salem historic district of Old Salem. Nice change of pace but hard on my feet since the side walks are all made from worn uneven bricks.

Seems awfully quiet around here. The board was pretty quiet all weekend. I'm debating whether to go to Curves today or tomorrow. Rick and I are digging out the Halloween decorations for the party, so that is preoccupying my time.

Rob, okay, just admit it............you're a walkaholic. LOL You're on auto-pilot, my man!!! But that's an admirable addiction. Hope your feet recover soon!!!!

Hi, fellow taters.

My challenge for October is to be as good as I was in September. During that month, I went to curves every work night (except for one). I'm pretty astounded at the changes in my shape in just one month!

Everything looks different. I didn't measure everything when I started in September, but my lower abdominal area is a full inch smaller. It looks as if it shrunk more than that. I didn't figure a way to measure the distance between my butt and the floor, but it LOOKS rounder ... less baggy, so to speak - and since I haven't gained any weight, it must be because I'm developing the muscles.

This is good stuff for me.

Maggie that is awesome!!!!! I noticed after going to Curves that I have muscles in my derriere that I didn't know I had. They have 3 machines there that work those muscle groups. It's making a BIG difference. The older gal that works there told me the other day that there's NO jiggle in my buns when I walk, you have NO idea how happy that made me!!!!! Pretty COOL eh? I wish I could see my tushy when I walk. Oh well, I have to take the word of others. LOLOLOL

So here's to bun of steel, Maggie!!!!!!

I was a total tater today. I had a rough day at work today and decided to just take it easy. I will go to Curves tomorrow fer sher.

Hi Gang!
LOLOLOL @ bunsof steel!

October kinda snuck up on me! I had some family "stuff" the last week of September, but I think that things are settling back down now (I hope!).
My challenge for the month is to commit to working out at least 4 days each and every week. I have totally banished the scale, actually don't remember where I hid it, but I did notice that my work clothes are actually loose! Yay!! I measured a 1/2 inch loss at my waist, so that was encouraging. I am determined to lose fat. I am focusing more on my clothes, and the way they fit, and getting into some smaller clothes I have, than on actual "weight" this month.
Maggie, way to go on the loss and the "firming fanny"! *grin*
Rob, I sorta think of the energizer bunny when I think of you and your continuing walks, ya just keep going, and going and going and going.............

Later, Taters!

Barb - Yes , I admit it. I just feel so much better when I walk than when i don't.

Maggie - Cool that you've taken to Curves like a duck to water. I would have bet it would have been more like a cat to water. LOL

Cynthia - LOL! That's me the energizer bunny. You'll do it this month!

It was a sunny day for the first time in days. October in NC is usually very beautiful with highs in the low to mid 70s. So I walked 5 miles at Tanglewood yesterday adn really enjoyed it. Wish they had a curves type place for men. regular gyms down here are just too expensive.

In spite of wanting to take a nap, I am going to haul a** over to Curves today (or should I say my buns of steel, LOLOL). I'm off tomorrow, so I think I will go again tomorrow and then again on Friday. I don't want to disrupt my momentum on Saturday with the Halloween decorating.
Cyn, you can do it!!!!!
Rob, I'm glad you are getting some sunshine finally. This high pressure system should be around for quite awhile. It's going to be 74 tomorrow, WOOHOO!!!!!

Got up again today and did it - Yay! I am picturing me skinnier as I pedal that @#45 bike, and it is keeping me focused, so far.
Managed to get my water in today as well, have been kinda slacking in that department lately. It is quite a walk from my office to the rest room, so that adds opportunity for more walking, some of it is almost running, LOL.

It has been warm here, tho it should cool down soon, I know every Halloween the kids are freezing as we take them trick-or-treating. It was cold, until I actually put the electric blanket on my bed, which was, of course, a signal to the weather gods to bring on a heat wave. I am not putting away the oscillating fans until it snows, lol.
