kim, I'm actually looking forward to getting back on track 100%. I FEEL so much better, mentally AND PHYSICALLY! Thanx for the encouragement!

Dragonmom, I saw some green tea supplements at my Kroger store. They are in tablet form, but I'm not sure about the effectiveness. I saw them in the "diet" food section.

Maxibee,

Thanks for the tip, I'll check that out. I'll have to cross the river to find a Kroger, but the next time I do, that will be at the top of my list of places to go. (Sometimes it's a real pain to live in the country.) Thanks again

Lauri, give the pills a try. If it works, let us know. But if you want to be brave, maybe buy a package of 20 bags of green and a package of 20 CHAI (yummy!!!!!!), sweeten it with splenda and drink it chilled. It might be a taste you could acquire!!!! But if the pills work, go for it!!!!

Amy, It's NEVER too late to join a challenge here. This is sort of an ongoing one, but also a new one (started a fresh thread) SO, jump on board!!!!!

Maxi, confession is good for the soul. And you know you are not alone here!!!!! We won't beat you up, so don't do it to yourself either!!!! Just get back on that horse.

It's kinda nice that we can look at the post holiday time as a new and fesh beginning. So we are all sorta starting over here. We'll wipe out any holiday off-plan eating here and now and begin anew. How 'bout it???

BTW, I'm finding that if I eat salad, drink green tea and water (along with other foods) that seems to be a winning combination.

I was reading a nutritional supplements book and came across this:
"To get green tea's antioxidant benefits, drink it without milk (milk may bind with the beneficial compounds, making them unavailable to the body)."

The author says green tea is good for asthma, regulates blood sugar, lowers cholesterol, combats mental fatigue, stimulates the immune system, "shows promise as a weight-loss aid," and more.

Sipping on (Stash) green tea as we speak. Kim - good for you if you can take the decaf - I can't take it

But, I also don't drink caffienated green tea after 12 noon - maybe that will help...

I think I read somewhere about the milk proteins binding with the tea compounds, but I wonder if it's the same for fats. (I have Prescription for Nutritional Healing and LOVE the book.) I use half and half which is mostly fat. Interesting thing about fat is that it makes some nutrients even MORE bioavailable (fat soluble ones). So who knows? I COULD drink it without, and I suppose I should. I'm going to try to lower my fat intake for the New Year anyway. I can get my fat fix with my Kefir made with whole milk. I don't think the fat in the tea is reducing the weight loss effects, however, not having tried this, I can't say for sure. I'll guinea pigize myself. LOL But I love the creamy goodness of it with the half and half.

I'm down a pound this AM inspite of impending TOM. YAAYAYAYAY!!!!!

Well I am sticking to my green tea intake very nicely. Usually between 3 and 5 cups daily now. I always have one as soon as I wake up with breakfast, and atleast one usually comes with each meal. And then there is the 2 or 3 cups I drink while relaxing around the house.

I didn't see any weight LOSS effects during the holiday, but that was due to grazing over some of the not-so-lc-treats... I'm back on track, and a few of us here are actually on a "7-day fat fast/exercise challenge". Figure we could have a big jumpstart week to get us all back from the holidays. It's definately a modified fat fast, but we'll see if it helps us all out. Along with the fat fast, we have vowed to not miss one workout in these 7 days, no matter what. I think making little challenges with the friends around us, in small groups, really keeps me more motivated. Weigh in for this challenge is January 3, 2005 in the am. OMG!!! I can't believe it's almost time to start writing and saying 2005! How weird is that?

OK, so I was going to join this green tea challenge long ago but didn't. I'm not a tea person. But I decided I needed to bite the bullet and try it. And guess what. I actually like the green tea we have at the office. And I didn't even have to add splenda. So I am in with this green tea. I am in TOM right now and regret stepping on the scale this morning. So needless to say that number won't be making it on my signature. But I have officially started green tea today. I am going to drink of my two big glasses a day so that's 32 oz. (unless this is a 20 oz cup but I think it's just 16) I re-read Atkins book about the ff and induction and OWL and all that so I am ready to recommit and not keep falling off on the weekends. I'll never reach 299 if I keep that up.

Just checking in....haven't been posting on a regular basis on this challenge thread, I think mostly because drinking my green tea has become a regular daily habit that I don't consciously think about anymore, I just do it! *LOL*

I easily met my 1st green tea challenge of 10 pounds by christmas and I credit the majority of this loss with the green tea.

My new goal is to be under 200 (199) by my birthday in February and I KNOW green tea is going to play a major part in reaching that goal!

Barb- Just wanted to thank you so much for introducing me and this Board to the many benefits of green tea! THANK YOU THANK YOU!

*sippin on green tea*.. cant argue with success shimmy... guess i will keep on drinking the tea.. not sure i can do a challenge.. i never weigh myself unless i get the doctors office to do that.. and the last time was JUNE..*L*..
i have thought about buying a scale.. but gosh those things are scary..*wide eyed look*.. i see the results of the SCALE WATCHING... its kinda like WHALE watching.. you keep HOPING to see what you've been watching for.. but MOST of the time its a much BIGGER thing than you ever anticipated..*L*
someday i might get one and have it under lock and key except for once a month checking... naw.. my jeans do the trick... if i like the way they fit..or i need smaller ones.. i dont NEED no STINKING scale..*L*

LOL Kim. That's the truth.............when the clothes get a bit tight, it's time to buckle down again. But when this WOE becomes second nature to you, the scale becomes a background kind of thing.

Shimmer, I'm SO GLAD this helped you. And that's the whole point. You are going to sail right into "normal" weight ranges before you know it!!!!!!

Noel, it's GREAT to have you here with us!!!!! The more the merrier!!!!! Sounds like your tastebuds won't be fightin' you on this one!!!! WTG!!!!!

Megan, you're doing GREAT too!!!!! It's becoming second nature, eh?

I so look forward to my next cup of tea, I just LOVE it!!!!! I had to go buy another box of tea today, was gettin' low.
