Thanks Kim!!!! It's good to be back home!!!! The Kombucha thing I do is not traditional tea. What we do is we brew about 1-2 quarts of green tea. Let it cool off, add 1 cup of (REAL) sugar, stir it and dissolve it. Then we add the starter "mushroom"..it looks like a pancake, but is a complex colony of beneficial bacteria and stuff like that. The "shroom" eats up the sugar and tea compounds and inocculates it with all its good stuff. The tea becomes very vinegary tasting and even gets fizzy after it has sat around for awhile. IT's described as being "effervescent." What I can't figure out is how they get the Kombucha stuff into that tea you are using. I wonder if they dry and shred a "shroom" and add that to the tea leaves. It's quite puzzling to me. I always thought that after the "shroom" dries, it dies. It still has me intrigued. I wonder if Stash has any info online about it.

    Here's a picture of a "shroom"

People in the office are starting to stalk me over my SF syrups - which I have not offered to share

I brought everyone green tea - maybe I should offer to share the syrup too....

Maxibee, I bet you're right on the lipton thing. I have not tried any other pre-packaged teas but when I make it to the vitamin cottage behind us I'll look for some. I would like something to stick inthe car. I've got the pockets in the backs of the seats stuffed with bottled water but some tea would be nice.

I keep saying I need to get to vitamin cottage and it is literally right behind our office but since they fixed the fence I can't just walk over as easily as I use to be able to. Call me lazy. I can walk two miles at home but don't want to walk up and down the hills to get to the vitamin cottage. Now I'll have to go just to make myself feel better.

Oh, yeah, I've been gettnig my tea in at work, but started slacking on the water so now I'm working on keeping them both up.

Had my green tea today for breakfast and lunch. Is this green tea suppose to help lose the weight or what is its purpose?
Is it ok to drink it on induction?

supposed to help.. but the jury is out on weight loss.. actually is used by ME for the antioxidant purposes too.. and it DOES seem to relieve fluid retention...
definitely good for induction or any other levels... but watch what you sweeten or put into it in the way of cream or half and half..ect.. and i think that even things like splenda have SOME carbs... if you are a drinker of the amounts such as me who drinks 8-10 cups of coffee and or tea a day..
remember to get the WATER in first.. tho... dont forget about IT while adding another beverage..;-)

Although I put on the usual 3 pounds of water weight when TOM was here, I didn't notice many PMS symptoms. Very slight, almost nonexistent symptoms. It was no big deal. If all my TOM's could be like that, I'd love it.....since I've gotta have them anyway! So, I think the green tea may have been a contributor to my well-being during that time!

No tea for me. I was busy from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. and didn't get a chance to pick up decaf. It was such a stressful day today that I didn't dare drink even a single cup of caffeinated tea.

I have an EARLY start with my workday tomorrow, but I don't expect it to be as hectic. Hopefully I'll remember to stop by the health food store on my lunch break.

went to that website for yogi teas and it does say kombucha extract-per the website, the local natural food store carries that brand. will have to scoot over there today and see if they carry this kind and try it. i've always read about barb making the homemade version but it sounded kinda scarey so it will be interesting to try this. one part of the site said its even more potent than the homebrewed type. not sure how true that is.

I wonder how effective the Kombucha benefits are in the brewed cup of tea. I always figured the hot water would kill the good stuff.........interesting.

I drank 2 cups yesterday WITHOUT half and half and I'm almost back down to my sig weight. I brewed a double this morning and flavored it with vanilla syrup and stevia only.........no half and half..........so we'll see if the scale shows any diff.

I too, had VERY little cramping with TOM last week. Could be the tea.

BTW, if any of you brave souls want to try doing the Kombucha culturing thing, let me know and I'll save you a "mother." There are zillions of websites out there about Kombucha, so if you are curious, just search on "Kombcha."

Not a tea drinker but this sounds interesting. There are different types of green tea, what kind is suggested and should have caffiene or non caffiene

Ok, i just cannot stop drinking this green tea, I tell you all got me hooked on this stuff...I find myslelf drinking it and not even thinking about eating, i don't even want a pm snack anymore. i jsut drink my green tea. Does it curb the appettite or something because i am never hungry much anymore. Maybe its the low carb, i don't know. but anyway it feels good not to be such a gluttony anymore and eat like a normal person. Think this low carb and green tea has done this for me.. I think low carb and green tea is a wonder diet...................Its doing things for me no other diet could.

Nancy, either reg or decaf seems to work. I have found that putting any dairy in it does seem to curtail the weight loss benefits, so I'm drinking mine with s/f syrup flavorings. It's yummy that way. Give it a try............we find that 3-4 cups per day makes the difference.

Mary, I think it does help in suppressing the appetite. Glad you are enjoying it!!!!!
