| Alright, I gotta ask..... is the green tea a diuretic for anyone else. I mean, I generally can drink a gallon of water before I have to hit the head, but lately, with all the green tea, I have the bladder of a pre-schooler! Any connection or is it just that I"m getting more water than ever? |

| Yep, I think all "regular" teas (i.e. from the same plant Camelia Sinensis or something like that) are diuretic. I spend a major portion of my day in the toidy between my water and tea intake.

| Bengal Spice is like an extra-strong chai. Cinnamon, spices. Around here, just the smell of it can drive you to a Cincinnati-style chili place.

| if you had ever had Cincinnati-style chili (Skyline in particular), it is strong on cocoa and cinnamon flavor. The tea just smells like it. dang - now I want Skyline for lunch tomorrow. (2 gram net carb for plain chili) - it fits the plan as long as I don't use the crackers. But, lots of shredded cheese!!!

| This is Day One of my (starting over) Green tea Challenge. So far, so good! My sister gave me her copy of Good Housekeeping (Jan. 2005) and I found an interesting article in it. On page 173, in the "yourGoodhouseguide" diet section, it lists "The easiest way to take off pounds". The VERY FIRST thing it lists is: "Have a few cups of green tea. In one recent study, subjects who took a supplement of green tea extract burned more calories per day-78, on average-than those who took a placebo. The researchers concluded that the green tea increased thermogenesis, the process by which your body burns calories. The extract was equivalent to between one and two cups of tea. So, put the kettle on, and grab a mug!" These tips were from diet guru Jim Karas. (The picture accompanying this article shows a smiling woman dunking a green tea bag into a clear mug!) So, Dragonsmom, I guess that answers the question about the pills!

| WEll, I'm still hanging in here with my GT. I don't remember when I started, but it has sparked a few pounds to leave me. I just hope it can help them leave after the holiday feasting! :fork: We'll see! Glad to see so many new faces to our challenge!

| I have gotten in 5 cups (traditional cup size too) today...may have one more during the second half of the football game since I paln tow atch it...and I don't need more Dr. Pepper but that is what I am wanting...something with flavor. I usually use a 12 oz mug so that is why I specified the cup size!

| I haven't made beef stew in a long time, but one of my secret (not secret anymore)ingredients is to put in cinnamon and allspice. I think it's a Scandanavian thing. It really adds an interesting flavor. And besides, cinnamon is known to help with weight loss too!!!!!! I add allspice to my mittaballs (meatballs with a Swedish accent, LOL) so that makes them authenticly Swedish. Spices that are traditionally thought of as being more sweet and for desserts work very well in meats too. Maxi, isn't it cool to see some other resources extolling the weight loss benefits of green tea. Makes you truly believe there's something to it!!!!! Biddy, that's AWESOME, keep it up!!!!! Lori, since doing the green tea, I've hardly had any other types of beverages besides water. I just don't miss them. You're doing great!!!!! Kim, if you make any potroast, ala Barb, throw in a pinch or two of cinnamon and see how you like it. I just LOVE it. (although, I didn't use any in my potroast tonight, dang, I wish I had remembered to do so.)

| Now that Im back on my tea, and back to my water drinking I am so glad to be within 4lbs of my sig, which is great considering i was 11lbs up on monday. If im not mistaken this is the fastest comeback ive had so far. I have been on such a roller coaster since i started the green tea challenge, that Im gonna recommitt myself to this challenge as well. I will count monday the 27th as my begin day. All of the holidays, parties and vacations are past me and im back to normal life as i know it. Never really focused on how this time of year can put a strain on your weight loss goals, always heard it but never really lived through it until now.
