| One of the results I've seen is less PMS. I had less weight gain, no cramps, no aching legs, etc. the last time I had my period. Of course, with the hysterectomy, that won't factor in for you, but I was just giving an example. I tend to think some of the results are what we DON'T see: aging. With all the antioxidants green tea has in it, we may not realize for a long time that our rate of aging has slowed down. Fish oil and green tea....both from nature and both help the body combat the aging process. Gotta love it! Kudos to Dr.Perricone and Barry Sears (The Zone). Cathy, you may want to check this out: http://content.lifescript.com/Newsletters/12-12-04.htm lots of good info on what benefits you may expect from drinking green tea!

| G'day Cathy!!!!! Glad to have you with us!!!! I had stalled on my weight loss for 8 months until I started drinking the green tea. Then my weight started moving down again!!!! So I'm a tried and true believer!!!! As for your doctor and dietician saying that you need to eat so your body doesn't think it's starving...............they are RIGHT ON!!!!! Try to eat some protein and green leafy veggies and drink that tea. Eat 6 or 7 small meals if that's all you can handle right now. Are you able to do ANY kind of exericise? Are you interested in a Low Carb lifestyle? Are you drinking any plain water too? Let us know if you want to learn about Low Carbing. We'll have you start your own thread and stear you to places here where you can get more info!!!! Feel free to have "grown up" discussions here with us. Having raised 5 kids myself, I know exactly what you mean!!!!

| Kim and Barb...You don't know what it's like to carry on "Old Lady" conversations until you find yourself at the senior center with a couple OLD ladies and having a first-hand discussion on blood pressure medications, sciatica, weakening wrists and other assorted aches and pains. 45 and been there, done that. LOL

| LOL, I can just see some ladies sitting there like the ones that are on the fronts of those hysterical Shoebox (I think) cards from Hallmark...............ROFL-HYSTERICAL!!!!!! I guess that's what we have to look forward to in our old-old age. Although, I intend to keep drinking green tea, LCing and exercising well into my 70' and 80's..........hopefully that will keep the body part and meds talk at bay. LOLOLOL

| I've been reading this challenge for quite awhile now, and decided to do some investigation about green tea. After finding out facts about it, I bought some this week -- decaf and regular -- and tried some. It tasted appalling. Experimenting with it, I find that I tolerate it better when it's iced, rather than drinking it hot. I tried it hot with heavy cream, but it still tasted nasty. So, I put 10 green tea bags into my 10-cup coffee maker yesterday morning and poured the water through and then let it sit for about 10 minutes before I turned off the coffee maker. I let the pot sit there for a few hours and then poured some in a large glass, adding ice and Sweet-n-Low. I drank the entire pot yesterday, so that's 10 cups of green tea for me in one day. It wasn't bad, and since I drank the decaf variety, it was even better for me. If I drink regular tea, after two glasses I tend to get the shakes. I didn't this time. It still smells bad, but I drank it. I'll go brew another pot in a few moments and make sure I drink the whole pot by this evening.

| April, don't let the tea steep so long. I try to steep mine about 3 minutes, but will let it go as long as 5. If you go longer than that, you'll end up with a very bitter tasting tea. I drink mine hot with a pkg of SteviaPlus and a couple tsp. of sugar-free flavored syrup. Hazelnut and English toffee are my favorites. For cold green tea, I mix it with SteviaPlus and Sweet'N'Low (my prefered iced tea sweetener) and chill it in the fridge. I've read that if you add milk or creamer to the green tea, it's antioxidant properties aren't as beneficial. 2 cups of the green down and two more heating in the micro.

| I mix my tea. Half green tea, half bengal spice ( or chai). I was drinking the spice for enjoyment anyhow, so I just double up on it.

| oh my, i haven't been around for a couple days! marykay, i love chai tea-- look for stash brand green chai tea-- they sell it at walmart for around $1.99/box of 20 & it's very good. thanks soooo much to barb, i started my kombucha tea yesterday, so in around 10 days i'll be ready to drink-- wahoo! i'm so excited! i'm doing my best to get in around 4-5 cups/day; since i quit working on tuesday it's not so easy-- i feel like i'm running around like a madwoman trying to get everything done, and i'm no longer chained to a desk all day. i'm force-drinking, though, & definitely seeing results-- today i met my valentine's challenge!!! happy, happy days & excellent weekend!!! :bear:

| :jumpgreen Jess!!!!!! WOOHOO!!! That was FAST!!!!!! April, WELCOME to the green tea gang!!!!!! And YES, don't let it steep longer than 5 mins!!!!!!! You might want to try flavoring it with LIME!!!!! Oh is THAT good, especially iced. Tastes like Snapple's diet Green Tea and Lime to which I was addicted in my EARLY LC days. Hmmmmmmmm, come to think of it, I was drinking that pretty regularly and hummin along on my weight loss.....................gee, I wonder if there's a connection, ya think? April, also, give mixing OTHER flavors of tea with it. I know you try to avoid as much sweetening as possible 'cuz it sends you off on sweet cravings, but other fruity flavors or gingerbread or chai might not be so bad. But above all else, steep no longer than 5 mins!!!!!

| This weekend's been a challenge in itself, but I still managed to have my green tea. I also have 3 of the ladies from my Dr.Phil-good group drinking it now. I told them about our challenge, and brought a magazine article about it to one of the meetings. I also have converted 2 of them to lowcarb living! One e-mailed me last fall and asked me to help her get started, so 2 hours on the phone and a pile of books later, she's 20 pounds lighter and a devout L/Cer! Her husband is converted also, and tells her even if she never loses another pound, the fact that her GERD/Reflux is gone is worth staying with the program. The other lady was just diagnosed with PCOS, so I sent her a link from one of the threads in the Women's forum. Some group called Soulcysters. She thanked me for the info, then posted tonight that she is starting her lowcarb journey on Monday! WOW! I know that's not about green tea, I am just excited about these 2 ladies changing the way they eat and live. Take care, everyone....and have a green week!
