March 1....58 days into the challenge...and I blew it. I deliberately blew it.
My son and I went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, a place we've not been to since I started low-carb eating October 1. Initially, I intended to order something that would fit into my low carb way of eating. But by the time the gal came to take my order I had myself all worked up.

"I may as well as order a combination plate. It's not like I'm losing any weight anyway," I told my son. And I did. I ate a small tostada, tamale, cheese enchilada and a few bites of beans. I nibbled on chips and salsa before that. As we got into the car I told my son, "That was good, but it wasn't worth blowing my diet."

Anyway, they say confession is good for the soul. So that's my confession. Tomorrow I'm jumping back on the wagon.

To those of you who've stayed on the golden trail, I am so proud of you! Keep up the good work.

Don't beat yourself up over it...sometimes a slip is what breaks the wagon and the weight comes off a bit again! I know it isn't worth totally blowing your diet, but living is living and one meal off plan isn't going to blow it one month off might though! Keep going and you willg et tthere...

Melissa,I agree with Lori. You didn't blow it and you are right on track getting back on the wagon. When I threw myself off a month ago it atually did help me break my stall. But I definitely would not reccommend it because it is tougher to get back on track. And the carb load headache for me was a killer...worse than I ever had before.

I have now done a month of cheat free days, soem a little higher than others but nothing awful like before. I'm still keeping track just so I can see that I have had mre good days than bad.

I don't feel as bad as I thought I would about eating a high-carb meal yesterday. The complacency kind of worries me. It's almost as though I'm glad I did it. I got it out of my system and now I can move on. (I hope I don't get it in my system very often!)

But I'm back on the wagon, now. I'm eating totally clean. And I don't even have any cravings. At least not yet. :-)

Hey, Glo. Welcome to the challenge. I was sailing along just fine...and then I collapsed. But I'm back on the wagon and working on day 4 of being cheat free, so we'll be starting together! We CAN do this!

Melissa - I am working on Day 3 and I have done great so far. I had scrambled eggs with a little ham this morning. For lunch - salad with ranch dressing and three roast beef and provo cheese roll ups. Tonight I am off to a St. Patty Day party. MMMMMMM Corned beef and cabbage. Definitely carb friendly

The only problem so far is carb withdrawl. Having some headaches. This too shall pass!!!!

The carb headaches are what kept me from cheating with pie at a party yesterday...and the fact that I jut ahd a whoosh and did not want to wreck it.

I looked at my sheet on the fridge with the smilies and out of like 67 days I had 8 bad days. I'm still making the smiles every few days but I am not obsessing over it. I've had about 34 good days in a row. Just taking it one day at a time.

Melissa, ditto what others have said. Glad to hear you aren't beating yourself up. I've had that happen where a high carb day can help produce a whoosh too. Glad you decided to hang in the challenge!

Good to see you in on the challenge Glo!

I'm at day 62 here!!

I'm debating on whether I want to start at square one or I want to keep going with just one frowny face. It was my first and only cheat since starting the challenge and my second cheat since I started low-carbing in October. I think that's why I'm not beating myself up. I've been telling myself that it's not a regular thing. I just don't want to get complacent and allow the cheating to become regular.

Funny that you mentioned a whoosh and a high carb day, Gregg. Not exactly a whoosh, but I am down 2.5 pounds from my cheat day. Then again...I was down 2.5 pounds from my cheat day on Feb. 22, 23 and 25. Hopefully the scale will continue to move in a downward fashion.

Carolyn - That is the great thing - I already feel so much better! After the initial headaches and crankiness, the carb fog has lifted and I am feeling more alert and full of energy. I have found that yesterday and today I didn't go through the mid afternoon slump. Why did I ever go off track with this WOL?

Five Days Cheat Free - I can't wait to fill my first row of smiley faces. I have found that each night I pack up my lunch items and it is easier to stay on plan. I pack up whatever protein leftover we have and a nice salad. I put it all together in the fridge so that I just have to pack it in my lunch bag in the morning. Taking the extra effort at night has helped so much. I don't get into that "I guess I just take tuna AGAIN" rut. Planning it out has really helped me this time. I also stocked up on LC items that will be good for snacking and lunches. So far - so good!!!!

Glo, I know what you mean about planning your food instead of opting for tuna again.... lol... i had to laugh, cause I keep tuna in my desk at work for just those days when there either isn't any leftovers, or I don't like or want what we have for lunch....
I too pack my lunch at night, I get up at 5:30 am to go to the gym and don't want to think about food at that time, I do come home after my workout and shower, but still would rather have it ready to go.
I also grab a quart bottle of water for the day.
I keep tea bags in my drawer, and other things I can eat. In the fridge I keep cheese, ham, cream cheese, eggs - scrambled or hard boiled, salad dressing, mayo, etc... salsa.... so I have food to choose from when lunch time comes around if I don't have anything at home.
keep it up and you will be happy with results.
On sunday, I usually do my eggs, repack anything I have run out of at work,
see what we have to eat during the week at night, and sort of pre plan menu's for dinners....
take care now
