I'm starting day 6. been doing better than I have in a long time (and the scale is rewarding it).
went to dinner last night at Champs - had a nice salmon/butter dinner with veggies. Frankenfoods may have been a fad, but it is so nice that the restaurants have given us so many easy choices now. They even had a carb conscious section on the menu.
Did the 2-mile walk tape this morning - yeah, it was hard for me, but I got through it.
so that is 6 days of exercise, 5 days of clean eating so far.

3 pancakes-3 net carbs, sf syrup-4 net carbs-natural peanut butter-4 net carbs, butter...none! Salad for lunch and probably steak and broccoli, cauli and carrots mixed for dinner! Still falls well into my range for today, even with induction though not quite enough carbs from veggies today...consider Saturday cheat free and add the smiley face!

I just found out that the French dressing that a restaurant put on my salad yesterday has SUGAR in it. That explains why it showed up as 16 carbs in my FitDay software. I stayed within my carb and calorie requirements despite the dressing, so I'm not going to count it as "cheating." Still, it was a good reminder to be aware of what I'm eating before I order and as I eat it.

Smiley face today...ice cream is screaming my name...I am going to fight through the next week of induction--if it kills me...I have to wonder though if I am hindering my progress dropping too low for my level of activity...I have 6 more days to go and I will finish...I figure 6 days will not kill me either way. I just have to wonder if the carb level is too low and that is why I haven't had any loss this week on induction without any cheating or high carb days?

GEEZ--I didn't even make it 10 days...if it wasn't nailed down and if it was edible today I ate it...all SF and LC but too much is too much...I was WAY over 20 carbs today....probably by 2:00pm and it didn't get any better which doesn't help my emotional wreck tonight...but it isn't the only cause...DD's school problems are making me crazy right now.

Lori:
I know you feel you've cheated because you didn't stay within your recent induction limits. But maybe your body doesn't need induction right now. Are you in ketosis? If so, maybe you don't need to be eating on induction. Maybe your body is telling you that it's hungry.

I'd reconsider whether today was an actual "cheat" or not. If so, then you can always start at day 1 again. I sure don't consider it a cheat, though. It's not like you ate fries, ice-cream, bread or pie or some other NO-NO food.

Lori, I agree w/ Melissa - to me a cheat is when I choose to eat something not lc. If I choose pizza, high carb foods or other junk, or something clearly off your plan. But I don't think eating extra vegies or extra meat, or 2 lc snacks between meals instead of 1, etc. is cheating. Some days we need more quantity than others. If we get too rigid we can eventually drive ourselves into a binge - for me eating lc as a way of life requires flexibility or I won't be able to stick with it.

Also, I was getting the feeling as I was reading your posts the last few days, Lori, that probably induction was not what your body was needing. Dr. Atkins actually discourages returning to induction much. You could have returned to ketosis while eating 30 carbs a day for several days and then upped it if you used to eat more when you were losing. Its up to you whether or not you post a smilie for today.

For me 9 down and 91 to go. I am pleased today because I am seeing appetite reduction - hasn't happened since Christmas even though I've been pretty good.

I had a couple of good days - although I have one small (not so small) issue!!! I went to Coldstone Creamery -- one of the sons of a good friend works there, and all of our children were meeting there to celebrate his little brother's birthday. I wasn't going to get anything but was told they have Sinless Ice Cream -- non-fat, no sugar added, made with Splenda. So - I decided to get some. I had them put a few berries in there - strawberries mainly b/c they are okay in small quantities. I had some of it -- probably about 1/2 a cup or so. And put a lid on it b/c I wasn't that hungry.

On the way home, I started feeling drowsy - by the time I got home - I knew the ice cream - or its ingredients were hiding something. I hit the elliptical machine for a while to burn off the carbs (just in case) and had steamed shrimp for dinner with a small amount of brocolli with cheese. I lost another pound over the weekend - but was very annoyed with that place. I've been unable to find the nutritional information on it to see how BAD it was.

Well said, Doves.

Rhalvahn - I'm so sorry you were lied to! It's a good thing your realized it and were able to get in a little extra exercise to compensate.

Me - I'm 10% done with this challenge and really proud of myself (and all of us!) for sticking with it!

Sunny - Welcome! ABSOLUTELY you can join us here! (Or anywhere on this board for that matter... it's all good!)

Go to the first post and print out your 100 day chart, then just get started. What plan are you following? Do you have a book? Have you read it?

If you need to, post your menus and we'll look at them for you.

The best advice I can give you, especially since you're just starting is:

1. Read, read, read, everything you can about your plan and LC. This board has TONS of great info and very knowledgeable people who are always willing to jump in and help.

2. Drink your water! 1/2 your body weight in ounces everyday will help that weight loss along.

3. Don't use any pre-packaged, LC, convenience foods, bars, shakes, candy or whatever until you are comfortable with doing LC with natural foods. Then, only in moderation until you know what you, personally, can use. MANY of these foods, while they sound good, can cause stalls because of their ingredients.

4. Start checking out the recipe and cooking section of this board and others. There are a TON of great recipes out there. Here is a good place to start, but here are some other links for you:

www.lowcarbluxury.com
www.recipegoldmine.com (click on the LC link)
users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/menus.html

Good luck and glad you're here!

On day 8 today! I don't think I am going to have much trouble today as I'm not feeling particularly well, tummy feeling a bit punky. I did get some jello down this morning to keep up with my breakfast challenge, glad I did because it made me feel a bit better. I;ve been sipping green tea and water all day. Might try some broth and some melba toast in a little bit. (Melba toast I have is 8g net carbs)

Keep up the good work everyone! Don't be hard on yourself if some days you eat better then others. I don't think it is nesecary to be perfect 10 out of 10 times...in fact I think its better if that ratio is more like perfect 8 out of 10, or even 7 out of 10. As long as we have MORE good eating days then bad eating days!

Well, this weekend I did really good, sat and sunday went by within my limits, friday I went a little high, but not overtly so, carbs were 73, calories were 1628
so I went 13 over on carbs and 28 over on calories.
I am not sure i got all my food down (in fitday) for sat and sunday yet, but
I went to the gym both days, and drank all my water both days
(140 oz, glug. glug. glug)
sounds like everyone is doing well....
Tomorrow I will be on day 8, 92 to go
seems like it is getting easier and easier ....

today we had a working lunch, and they brought in pizza, but I brought my lunch, some left over meat, left over stir fry veggies, and some raw veggies, boy was I glad I brought something good to eat, cause that pizza was really tempting, but you know, after the meeting someone said they were tired, after eating the pizza, but I wasn't.... wahoo....

did OK today...not really cheat free, but not over my carbs or anything either...I iwll give it a worried look--stilll eating everying thing edible that is not nailed down which happens the couple of days before TOM runs me over completely...Tomorrow food with be the farthest thing from my mind with cramping, nausea nad the whole works taking over...I think I store up for the two first days where I barely eat anything at all! Day 9 here and I don't think women should have to count the two worst days of the month...it really isn't controlable...at least not in my opinion...I did get my water in and then some and I got 1200 yards in at the pool...so even though I only had 3C of veggies today, I think I did OK in that department...only 22 carbs too...just lots of "stuff"...cheese, salami, eggs, bacon, you name it, I ate it... some times more than one piece too!
