My yard work is about done. All the dead stuff is out of the way for the bulb thingies, which are starting to work their way out. And the lights are down and put away until .... well, I guess they're put away for six months, anyway.

Tuckered out and look like hell, but no injuries to any major system. I did manage to hit myself in the jaw with a piece of bamboo, but other than that, I'm none the worse for wear.

It was a beautiful day - too cool for deck sitting - too warm for gloves, but a good day to work - the sun was shining.

Ed - LOL@The Jerk image. Hope you took advantage of the weather yesterday!

MAggie - I see you did take advantage, Nice work!

I did take full advantage of yesterday's beautiful weather. The weatherman promised it would clear up by about noon and he was right on! The wind disappeared along with most of the clouds. So I went to Tanglewood and walked 5 1/4 miles. Unforunately I negated the walk by eating a pint and a half of low carb ice cream with a boatload of homemade whipped cream.

KM and Rob, you guys are doing great with your walking!

You know, I've been walking the fur girls since it got warmer, but I don't have a good feel for how far I'm actually walking. Hmmmmm. Will have to see about a pedometer or something. The only thing I actually have is that step counter McDonalds was giving away last year...

Mary Kay - I envy your motorcycle rides, sounds ideal on a spring day!

BC - get a "real" pedometer! Those McDonald ones are really inaccurate.

I did another 5 miles yesterday, walked almost the exact path I did saturday and the weather was exactly the same. 76 degrees and sunny, which is what today is supposed to be like too. unfortunately, being April, the rains come tomorrow and last through thursday.

Anyone who's butt is killing them from doing yard work please raise their hand.

I thought I was getting in good shape doing all this walking. But I guess the walking does nothing for your gluts or the inner thighs.

Butt, but it's sort of a "good" hurt. That sort of "I used it" as opposed to "I injured it" kind of hurts.

Well, I was going to go for a walk at lunchtime. The sun was shining and it looked like a nice day. I went less than a block before I turned around and went back to the courthouse. It was freakin COLD out there! I guess it was in the forties, but the wind was blowing and it felt like winter. Blehh! Tonight it's supposed to go down to 20. Wouldn't surprise me. :(

Mary Kay - Wish I could say the same about my weekend food choices.

Ed - That's why i live in a condo. I hate yard work. Though it is almost time to get my herb garden (in pots) in place out in my so-called yard.

MAggie - The weather is turning on us down here too. Yesterday's high - 77 all sun. Today - 57 and rainy. blah!

I only walked 3 miles yesterday at the lake. I was hitting the proverbial wall right from the start. The good news is I've walked 34 miles so far in April. The bad news is it's supposed to rain until Thursday. So probably won't get any walking in until then. But you never know.

Me, Me! I pulled perennial stalks off our berm for only about a half hour, and my haunches are aching! Next house will NOT have a huge yard. Rob, I'm wholly in favor of deck gardens.

Rob, I really should get a real pedometer one of these days. Not that I think my walks are anywhere near as impressive as yours and MKs. Like Maggie, I go out for 10-15 minutes, then head back. No walking today, though--boy is it dreary, rainy, blustery and coooooold.

Hidey-hodey neighbors!!! Been a while since I've posted.

Bren, good to see you here!!!!

Y'all are doing great!!! Maggie, we left x-mas lights up one year and the dang squirrels made a meal out of them. Haven't had lights up ever since.

LOL @ "The Jerk" mental images. The best scene for me in that movie is when Steve M's character what taking Bernadette P's character "out" for dinner and they were sitting inside the truck at the circus............and they were having "cup'o'pizza. LOLOLOLOL, that STILL cracks me up. (I also like the scene when he was leaving and saying "I don't need anything.............except this (fill in the blank) and kept going and going and had a pile of stuff in his arms. Tooooo funny!!!

Well, I've been spending ALL my free time on the CHAIR. It's almost done and now we got e-mails saying they've extended the due date for May 10th, as opposed to April 15th. I have almost another month to work on it...............breathing a BIG sigh of relief. With that extention, I feel I can run over to Curves tomorrow. I didn't go yesterday and was going to blow it off the entire week. So, looks like I will fit that in.

DSS is mending, but it's a slow recovery. I went with him last week to a doctor's appointment and he said it won't be completely healed for 6 months!!!!! Poor guy, he doesn't deal well with pain. He gets exhausted easily. He has tried to go back to work and it just does him in. Good thing he's a youngun!!!!

Anyone got a line on a really GOOD pedometer - like maybe one that lets you set the sensitivity? Also, do you have to wear a belt?

Wow, Barb. Long recover for your DSS. I'm wishing him the best each day.

well, really didn't want to get up and walk this morning - headache and cat-fut mouth - but I did. Can't break the streak now.
17 days WATP mornings, and now 7 days good eating.
it's starting to feel so good again.

Brenda - Hey 30 minute walks are just fine. Dreary here too lately.

Hi Barb - I wondered where you'd got off to. Your Dss will probably feel much much better long before 6 months.

Maggie - I run through pedometers like crazy. I eitehr break them or lose them. I don;t know of any with sensitivity adjustment capability but make sure you get one that your stride can be set in at least 1/10th inch increments. some only let you set it to the nearest inch. Am currently using one that Vermont government employees were given a few years back. It's a good one. You don;t need to wear a belt just clip it to your waist band.

MAry KAy - Good for you!!

BAd for me. I didn't walk yesterday and probably won't today. Dreary weather. I may go and get those 2 new tires I desperately need.

We have a NEW Dick's Sporting Goods store here and haven't been in there yet. I'm afraid to go in there..........I'll want to buy LOTS of new toys. But I'll bet they have pedometers. I should see if they have odometers for bicycles. (Still haven't dragged the bike out of the garage yet, LOL) I want to buy one of the those HUGE exercise balls too, and maybe some 8 lb handweights. Maybe I'll go in there today, JUST to look around and price things.

MK, keep it up girlie!!! You're on a winning streak!!!!!

Rob, this dang weather keeps throwing a wrench in outdoor activities here too. It's in the 50's here now for the highs. (grumble, grumble) I wouldn't mind "cold" fronts if it got into the 70's and then cooled down into the 60's. Our low tonight is going to be 34, grrrrrrrrr. and it never fails, the magnolias are in full bloom here and we always get at least one more cold snap when that happens. Makes me think the flowers will just drop right off........they always seem to handle it though, so pretty!!!

I'm dressed and ready to run off to Curves. I think I will weigh in there too, and get measured.

Later Taters

(Oh yea, I almost forgot to post this............I hoolah hooped outside last Sunday, for 5 mins.............that is a LONG time with the hoop. Think I will do it again today after the morning chill is gone.)
