Noel - Glad you located your motivation!

Mary Kay - You are flying! Keep it up!

Maggie - Yeah I've been there. Find anything to do as long as it doesn't involve "WORK" (in best Maynard G. Krebbs voice).

Well I went to the park for a walk yesterday when it was sunny and 73 degrees. walked 2.5 miles and had to bail when the sky blackened and the wind came up. MAde it back tot eh car with less than a minute to spare before the rain came. But 10 minutes after I drove away the sun came back out.

Well, I had motivation when I wrote that yesterday morning then about 1:30 I started getting teh chills and muscles started aching. My sniffles and cough turned into the full blown flu. Of course I am at work today because I don't have a job I can easily take a sick day unless I am dying. So here I am coughing and sputtering while writing and I got nothing done but putting on the Teletubbies for the baby and taking a nap.

Oh, Noel! That sucks! Getting re-motivated and immediately getting sick! Hang in there! Meantime, get yourself well and the motivation will return!

Rob, it is a testament to our age that we would both think of Maynard G. Krebbs rather than Gilligan.

Me, I'm slowly getting back to something that passes for activity. I didn't walk at lunchtime, so I went out to do a quick walk before sunset. Halfway, I realized that I left my pedometer clipped to my workpants (which I was, of course, no longer wearing.) Duh. I'm going to estimate a rather modest 5,500 steps for today. Nothing to write home about, but at least I made an effort.

made it to Ballys this morning - could only manage 5 min on the elliptical, but its a start. Did my full leg workout list, and then 10 min on the bike. So, very proud of myself - Friday is arm day - gotta do it! still gonna walk tomorrow.

Noel - So Sorry you're feeling sick.

Maggie - ROFL! you got that right - I doubt if 1/3 of the board has even heard of MGK.

Mary Kay - Good job on getting to BAlly's!

I was a ball of energy yesterday. Walked 4.5 miles at the lake and then had a list of errands and shopping that needed to get done. Ended up at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes and 3 other stores by the end of the evening my pedometer had registered 8 miles for the day and I didn't put it on until I was up for 4 hours. I even tried to repair my clothes dryer but I'm the opposite of handy.

    LOL @ MGK!!!!!

Howdy Taters!!! I DID make it into Curves Sat. AM.......woke up early enough to get going and had no excuse. I worked a FULL day at the swimming pool supply job, as well as Tues. Actually, they asked me to stay late on Mon. so I did. I haven't been to Curves AT ALL this week yet. Maybe I'll go today at 4. I didn't go yesterday because I had a housefull of cackling women over last night for Bunco. What a riot. But needless to say, I was running around like a headless chicken yesterday. Today is my day off, so I vowed to get out and start cutting down dead ornamental grass sprigs and purple cone flower sticks and raking leaves. I put in two hours out there and drove out to the "outback" to dump the debris in the back forty several times. I also spent a good part of the morning making trips up and down two flights of stairs, doing laundry. We're having a bit of plumbing problems with our sewer drain (tree roots) and I have to be vigilant about letting the wash water drain slowly. Makes for LOTS of trips up and down the basement stairs. I've been using some copper crystals in there in the hopes of killing the roots. We had it reamed out once already, but seems we may have to do it again. I'm trying to avoid having my front yard dug up. We'll see if it resolves. In the mean time, I get lots of trips up and down the stairs in.

MK, you are doing great!!! Keep it up girlie!!!

Noel, Get better soon!!! That stinks that you got your drive back and came down sick. Take care of yourself.

Maggie, I would think you could figure out a program for yourself at Curves, skip the recovery stations and just do the upper body machines and the "thighmaster" thingy.

Rob, we've had some nice weather here too, but it's going to get really nasty for almost a week. This cold front is a BIG one!!!! I'm hoping to get out and do some more yard work while it's chilly here. I work much better when it's not so hot.

Have done my 3x week at Curves since I signed up, plus dog walks most days, although we've just started another cool/rainy spell--sorry all those of you to the east, it's coming your way.

Overall, pretty happy with Curves (thank you all for those thoughts).

Maggie, I hope you can work out something at Curves, too. Maybe some aerobic arm flapping on the stations? Ok, sounds hilarious, but it could work, LOL! Or stretches, or stationary weights like doing extra biceps, triceps, and shoulders with dumbells???

Feeling a bit better today but still hacking up a lung every five minutes or so. Can't walk outside because of the trees anyhow. Kinda bummed but will keep working on getting better then will get motivated again.

Everyone seems to be doing so well. Whether full blown exercising or getting back on the exercise horse.

I'm still thinkin on the curves thing. Like the "funky chicken" idea, Bren.

Today, I'm at 9,837 steps as I speak, so that's not bad. It's currently raining and the cold front is headed this way. Figures, I just dragged out a bunch of lighter things, so now I'll live with both winter and summer wardrobes hanging around until I put winter away in June.

Barb - Ugh April. DAm* Fickle month isn't it! Sounds like you were energized yesterday.

Brenda - Good going on getting to Curves! Thanks a heap for the rain. lol

Aww Noel I feel bad for you. Get better really soon!

Maggie - Good going on almost 10,000 steps! I have 2 laundry baskets. One for thermals, flannels and sweats. The other one is for shorts and cotton tee shirts. They are both currently full.

After the 8 miles tuesday I was dragging all day wednesday but about 5:30 I forced myself to walk 2 miles at a park about 1/2 mile from me. Today I'm going shopping for a dryer. The old one will cost about $85 to fix and It's old and dries things very slowly, about an hour for a full load. So Back to Lowes or H.D.

What a week it's been for walking. Nice temps, sunny, lots of flowers blooming and everything smells so nice out there. I wish we have more days like this.

I started a change to my diet this week. I stopped eating before I go to bed. I will only drink a tall glass of water now. I was snacking before I went to bed but it would turn in to a meal most times so I hope the change will help me shed more pounds. I turn in a 5am and my last meal for the day is around 10pm. i'm down 70lbs in 9 months. People are starting to notice.

Mary Kay - I'll bet you're already seeing small benefits tehy may just not be noticeable to you yet.

Brenda - Gee thanks. I think i saw some eskimos looking for free snow.

Ed - Yeah this has been perfect walking weather. Unfortunately that ends where I am staring saturday. High of 52 on Sunday. 52? It was 86 on Tuesday. 70 pounds down! I'll bet people have been noticing for the last 40 pounds.

I walked 5.5 miles at Tanglewood Park this afternoon. Beautiful! Then I removed the storms and screens from my windows and washed them and the window itself. Ok I'll fess up. It was just 2 windows and I only did it because the Condo association is painting them. So basically I had little choice except to put them back dirty and remove them at a later date to clean. NOT!

Rob- no, being so large loosing 40lbs did not look like much. I still have loose 130lbs to reach my goal of 200lbs. Its a daunting task when I think about it. so I don't think about it much. I just do my lc and walking thing as many days as I can. There is no time frame on this WOL. I have to remind myself of that.
