We had initially started a Canadian Challenge but have changed it to 100 hrs. in the sun. We would love to have a weekly/monthly thread. Any suggestions would be most welcomed! Here is what has transpired so far: Hey Nadi! I loved it - in the sticks...............yep, me too! I love the idea of being able to come on a daily basis and just post - whether it is our menu, weight loss or lack of it, holding each other accountable or just talk about things in our life (hubby, kids, TV). So here goes for me: Today: 138 lbs. Goal - 120 (or less) Currently size 12 - too tight - hope for a lose 12 or 10 WOE: Atkins (low cal) Exercise - Bowflex as well going to hit the gym at lunch time Job - Admin. Assistant Age 53 (but young at heart) - Height 5:3" - In menopause Kids grown - one still in University Remarried last year - extremely happy except for the weight Fishing and RV'ing is what I live for and the season opens on the long weekend in May Would really like to get into my shorts & jeans by June 11 - have a friend's wedding to go to. So tell me more about yourself Nadi. Which province? Your goals? Married? WOE? We could call it something other than the Canadian Challenge and therefore we would get more participants - any ideas on the name - weekly thread? Monthly? I am PM'ing another person on the board - perhaps she would like to join us. So Nadi, we had the freak storm yesterday. Roads sucked. I live out on an acreage where the roads are pot holes. What was your weather like? __________________ Jas Jas53View Public ProfileSend a private message to Jas53Send email to Jas53Find all posts by Jas53Add Jas53 to Your Buddy List #4 LCE Newbie Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Canada - in the sticks Posts: 23 me in a nutshell... I am sitting at 160 lbs which puts me in a size 12 - I am 5'7 so I only have a few pounds to lose I picked a goal weight of 140, but might stop sooner. 3 years ago I weighed 230lbs but dropped to 175 on Weight Watchers and stuck there for a year so wanted to try something different, I chose Atkins and I will not look back!. I haven't really settled on a regimeted excercise program, I usually walk but I am adding in cycling now that the snow is almost all gone. I earn my daily bread doing historical Land Title Research I am 28 - I have 2 kids - 4yr DS and 7yr DD I also married last year, but to my long time BF and father of my children (DD was a surprise right before college so we didn't have he money to do our wedding our way until last year - 11 yrs together, 8mo married) I love camping, I do the long hike and tent thing (but plan to buy an RV after the kids are in college) Living in the sticks gives me the advantage of going hiking in my own back yard, which I love, except when the quads are out! I don't have a time goal I am working toward or a size and as I said 140lbs is not a hard fast rule, I just want to not have a roll all around my midsection, if it wasn't for stretch marks I might haved worked toward wearing a belly shirt since I am still young enough to get away with it (I think). I am in Quebec nestled right up against the Ontario border. The weather is nice and sunny and the weather man keeps teasing us with the promise of temperatures in the high teens, but they never get there! We could just post a daily update in the "everything else" area or shoot for a challenge of 100 hours in the sun, to encourage us to get outside in the fresh air more often? | Wow Nadi - you are doing awesome - from 230 to 160 and you are tall as well! This gives me incentive. How many carbs do you allow yourself? Your kids are little and probably keep you rather busy! I used to be a size 6-8 but I know that this will never happen again so I will be happy to be a size 10/12 without too many rolls. I will try to check in by the end of the day. I do not have Internet at home so I cannot check in until Monday.

| Hey Jas! I don't check the boards on the weekend either - family time. I am up to 30g carbs a day, I think I will stay here until berry season when I plan to plant my lawn chair in the center of my mother's raspberry patch, I wonder if my aunt will lend me a cow for fresh cream? I would like to see a 6/8 hanging in my closet, I haven't fit that since I was 6-8 years old!! (actually 12-13) I have never been thin. Right now I am the same size I was before kids, just lumpier. Here is my time in the sun: Friday - 0, zip, nada. DD had an eye infection so we were at the hospital - her eye is clearing nicely tho. Saturday - temp hit 20 deg!! yayyy!! DH & I cleaned the yard and I got my first sunburn of the year :( did quite a bit of lifting and raking - that gives me 4 hours in the sun. Sunday - built a dam in the creek in our back yard with my kids - I had to carry all the heavy branches from the bush to the creek - can I count that as excercise in the sun? if so that gives me another 2 hours. Than we went for a half hour bike ride to my mom's and back. Weekend total 6.5 hours - 93.5 to go!

| The weather here is so very nice I should have been in the sun for about 4 hours yesterday but didn't get any "sun time" in. But I will join your challenge as well and try and get in more "sun time". The baby (Xander-20 months old) will love the sun time as well. Of course this is bad timing becasue we are getting a weather front moving in tomorrow but after that I will try and get out in the evenings after work and before the sun sets.

| :great: Morning everyone! Scale rewarded me today ? I was 135. Of course, I have been here before many times only to slide back. This time, I hope never to go back to this number again!!!! Here is my time in the sun: Went for a walk on Saturday & Sunday ? total of 2 hrs. Rest of the time I was spring cleaning and couldn't get out. Today the weather is gorgeous, so I will try to get some time before it gets cold & dark. Welcome Noel - CushieButterfield - Nadi ? raspberry and fresh cream ? ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm ? now a cow might be more trouble ? LOL It must be a lot warmer for you to get a sunburn! Of course, I am originally from India and naturally tanned so no chance of sunburn but I do get darker and darker especially when we are on our boat. A creek in the back yard ? wow ? I envy you! Alcmene ? Glad you joined us. I think we discussed some notes - I must go back and read. We are in budgets ladies and it sucks................I will try to be back later on.........

| Where is everyone today? I had a hair appointment last night and so I did not get much sun time except at lunch when DF and I walked for about 1/2 hr. DH has started riding a bike - me, I cannot ride a bike - can you believe it? Any ways, did workout this morning - scale at 133 - got to keep going. Nadi - lucky you can walk to work - I live so far away so I have a 1/2 drive one way every day.

| I thought I posted yesterday! I guess i just thought about it so much that I convinced myself I had already done it!! I have until the end of the month to complete my second draft of a 200pp report and it is driving me batty and making me forgetful of other tasks!! To make matters worse I go in for dental surgery this saturday and have to take mon & tues off to recover. I do plan on bringing my work home so I can work on it if I don't feel too bad. I am getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled. ouch! So here is my time: Tuesday: Walked to work in the morning and home again at lunch then rode my bike to work after lunch but got a ride home after work because the sky opened up and rained HARD from 4pm to 8pm - no hiking this weekend either :( . That gives me 30 min for walking, 5min biking (which is too short so I won't count it but it was a good workout) Wednesday: Only walked home from work - 15 min than went for a short walk after my escaped dog 15 min (I was pretty lazy yesterday) Total time over 2 days - 1 hour - 91.5 to go! I like being able to walk to work- I used to commute 45 min one way daily when I worked in Toronto and lived in Milton, I truely do not miss it, I am a small town girl right to the heart. I should walk everyday but somedays we just don't move fast enough to get out of the house in the required time. The school and the daycare are on my way to work so I walk with my kids and sometimes they are very S L O W. Plus we have to walk down a major highway and my 4 year old makes me nervous. The shoulder is wide and paved for walkers, bikers, rollerbladers etc. and the posted limit is 50km/h so it is fairly safe, so I guess I am just making excuses.

| What a lovely morning again! We hit record highs yesteday!! So it rained for you Nadi!! I must say you are doing better than me in the hours in the sun. You certainly are keeping track of it better. Yesterday, after DH and I got home, we went for a walk around the yard to check out all the spring growth - a slow leisurely walk so it was no exercise. Then we sat on the deck and had a few drinks..........:eyes: - needless to say that did nothing for our weight as I am up 2 lbs........ So if I counted all the time in the sun and not necessarily doing the E word - I would say I have probably spent 5 hrs. in the sun - with 95 more to go!! Where is Cushie?

| I wish we were having record highs!! we are usualy 5-10 deg (celcius) around this time but there is a 10cm snowfall warning for tomorrow :( at this rate the hiking trails won't be dry until the end of May!! Jas, I wouldn't be too worried about the 2lb gain, have you taken measurements? My scale won't move, but I have had to move my belt buckle one notch, so something is happening! I walked like crazy yesterday! I walked to work at the begining and end of the day and I walked home for lunch and then back to work. I then walked to my mom's house, but got a ride home 'cause I was pooped! That was 2 hours!! If the scale doesn't move next week I will be very disappointed! I am going on a date with my husband tonight, I am going to talk him into taking a walk on the boardwalk. He loves that romantic stuff (he's a softie) so I doubt he will refuse, I just don't know if it will happen before the sun goes down, actually during the sunset might be the best time to go! 89.5 to go!!

| Another gorgeous day here in Alberta. I had a hair colour yesteday so by the time I got home, I did not get any sun in but this weekend will be different. WTG Nadi on your walks - you are doing awesome! Yuck on the 10 cm of snow though - we are supposed to have a high of 21 tomorrow and 17 on Sunday with possible chance of rain. Funny you would say about your hubby being a softie - mine too Have a great weekend and I will see you on Monday. Oh, and no change in the measurements...........

| Well, here we are at Monday. I have nothing to report for time in the sun, the weekend was rather dismal. Snow, sleet and rain for 2 days straight. I didn't even take that waltk on the boardwalk friday! DH decided to treat me with a birthday shopping spree so he held my purse while I shopped 'till I dropped! Jas, what movie did you see? Nadia

| Hello everyone! I did okay on the weekend but had some cheats. Today, there is a staff lunch so eating clean will not be possible. I did get about 8 hrs. in the sun on Sunday as I was helping DH prepare for an auction for his mom which is in June. Holy crap Nadia - snow - I know how you feel..........it is supposed to start here on Wednesday too! Go girl on getting into 9's - We saw Sin City - got mixed feelings about it. Not what we expected~!~

| I've been such a homebody, stuck indoors. Finally have gotten over this cold though. I did manage to make it out Saturday evening before the sun went down with the baby to sit on the greenbelt. He's not a big fan off grass right now. I saw Sin City last week. It's one of those movies I wasn't sure if I liked. I'd have to see it again.
