Default Labor Day Challenge

I'd take it as a compliment too! You must have had some cut little sway when walking Junieshops!

I realized today that I'm only 1 pound away from losing 100 pounds from my highest weight ever. I sure feel good. You know, my ribs used to hurt real bad from all the weight that sat on them. I'm glad that feeling is gone!

WTG Heather, you are just losing like crazy this week, sure hope it keeps up!My losses are slow but relativly steady, nothing like yours though Guess between my age and hysterectomy I am lucky to lose at all I have many strikes against me and it is hard for me to keep from comparing myself with others, but that is something I must work on daily, because we all lose at our own pace, et!

O yep, Junie - comparisons are not useful. All at our own pace and so many complex factors involved too. That's why I reckon its important to enjoy the journey as well!

Well - yeah - I've learned to be positive - gets me a lot further eh! 48! Heavens - just a chick!

Well done eh Heather - you are powering along! Its been my experience that weight does do that though for some people - I lost about 70-80 or so first time around and then stalled for about 2 years and then gained 10 back - and then this next lot (approx 30) just went whoosh! I did adjust my plan though and stayed a lot more on track - but still - its something I never expected to happen.

But the real change has been in me - I've had a total rethink and direction with my life - and the people in it too - so that's been something I NEVER - in my wildest dreams imagined happening to me at 63!

Default Labor Day Challenge

I have to give some credit to my family. If they weren't so messy I wouldn't be burning so many calories daily! I have two boys and a husband and though they "try" I have tons to do and start each day over. Somedays it is hard waking up, going to the gym and coming back to a wreck but I keep calm, let them know I'M NOT THE MAID , and have them help me pick up. Top Secret: my husband is the worst even over the 1 1/2 year old. I think things just fall to the ground when he walks by them but I love him so much. His smile and jokes make up for it. Somedays a dishwasher, nanny, cook and maid would be grand. He said if anything ever happened to me he would have to hire them with the life insurance money. No wonder, I have to vacuum 3x a day. I'm not a cleanaholic. My family is slobaholics! One day a few years ago they all left for the day and I stayed home to relax. The house was clean the whole day! It was amazing to not turn around and see another mess! I got done with so much but I wouldn't trade them for a clean house and all the money in the world. If you got to the end of this story I'm amazed and glad you stuck it out.

O my dear BBJ1 - how on earth do you do it! My EX DH used to pull a drawer right out completely - tip it all over the counter - fossic through it - and then leave it all there!! This DH nearly drives me crazy picking up after me!! One day I MIGHT find a happy medium!! My ex DH and my DS both worked in Papua and we all lived in the Philippines for years - so of course, house help was always on hand. I can tell you - it didn't help EDH or DS acquire tidy habits! Fortunately - someone else now tidies up after EDH and DS has a housekeeper - current DH tidies up after me (although we do have HC too) and me? Well - I just enjoy myself! Why not!!!!

Wow! I missed one night and had 3 pages of posts to catch up on! I have stayed off the scale and on plan (95%). DH has decided he needs to get in shape, so maybe it will be easier for me now.

The plan is to get up, have a spinach omelet and green tea, exercise, then take DD to see Fantastic 4 (as much for her as me getting my Julian McMahon fix!) so I need to find me some l/c goody to take into the movie....maybe I'll sneak in some sunflower seeds!

Beachfox, do you remember when Julian McMahon's father was the Prime Minister of Australia in the 70's? If so, was he as handsome as his son? Like I said, your country sure turns out some lovely human beings! You included, of course!

Well thanks Maxibee for the generous words! I was hopin you were NEVER going to ask me about Julian's father and his capacity to be Prime Minister!!! Or his looks either!!! Let's just say - Julian takes after his Mum! Who was quite a looker in her day and actually stopped traffic with a skirt slit to the top of her thigh! Yes, well - also as to his Dad's (Billy) political skills - ahem - lets not go there either! Julian seems a nice boy though. Gotta tell you though - my money's on Hugh Jackman! Actually -to be honest - I don't reckon there's an Aussie actor around who ever has or ever will come even close to Jack Thompson! Gettin on now of course - but so am I and he still gets my head abuzzin'!

I had to shrink this pic too much for him to look good as my avatar! So here's a better pic. Man! Is he fine or what? What's the Aussie word for handsome?

I can't decide who is better looking, Julian or Josh. I know I drool when either of them is on TV! LOL!

Oh I just love that guy, he played an evil demon in the show I watch called Charmed, and of course now Nip and Tuck, he is a looker for sure, although I am not a good fan cause I had no idea where he was from until now
My youngest ds (17) could be a star according to his looks and talent, but he has no motivation for that stuff, he plays a mandolin and guitar expertly and does damm good on a banjo, plus he has written 25-30 songs (he does bluegrass) and he is already well known around her and sought out by the old timers all the time....I hope to see big things out of that one
Still off the scales although I want to get on real bad.....but I am resisting so far

Yeah - well -Maxibee almost sent me into a tailspin when she first changed her atavar - I thought she had been a 'he' all along and I was flipping out over what I might have said to 'him'!

Yes, Julian was in Charmed. He has been in quite a few Aussie things here too until he went to US. I think its part of the collective Aussie psyche that we don't seem to support our entertainers in many ways. The 'original' collective approach has always been not to be too effusive or enthusiastic about things. Its difficult to explain but I think the word 'laconic' was used about many of the Aussie diggers in the wars and its probably the best description of the original national character. An example of this is when someone says 'o that's great or really cool' instead of replying 'yes, thanks it is' we would say 'its not too bad' and that REALLY is high praise indeed! Of course, we have had many new experiences over the generations of multi-ethnic input here - so that character has changed now. My generation is still very much like that though. I've spent considerable time in Canada and of course, some in US. I enjoy the responsive characteristics from both those countries (which is probably why this forum is 'home' and not the Aussie ones).

So - focusing on the journey - and still doing VERY well off the scale Junie - I've been able to resist so far too. But I don't think I'm gaining anyway. As I was on target weight - well - below really, because I never expected to drop below about 160lbs. I'm now in the situation of not one single thing in my wardrobe fitting me. I've bought a couple of pairs of winter jeans. I have a very good dressmaker who is tearing her hair out now. We think my jackets will be OK - but the pants and skirts are useless. Given my agenda next year to buy property in Adelaide - I think I'll just leave it all for the moment. It's much much colder there than up here anyway - so I would need a different wardrobe. I've got some good sheepskin jackets from NZ so they fit again which is great and a really pretty Chinese brocade evening jacket I bought in Honkers in the '70s which fits again - unbelievable!!

Oh, but how fun to have an ever changing wardrobe! You never get bored!

Still doing fine myself. And I haven't stepped on the scale all week; and even have managed some exercise. The bridesmaid dress I had to order for my friends wedding had to be taken in about 5 inches - what a great feeling I got from that! The scale wasn't moving (when I last checked) but the body seems to be adjusting anyway.

Maxi - I have no idea who all these guys are, but your avatars are always nice to look at! :hot:
