Count me in. I"m going away July 10th-14th but I'm going to be low carbing while I'm on the lake fishing

I need a challenge and motivation.

Also - forgot to ask - could one of the moderators please move the aim/objectives post from 4th of July Challenge into this thread? Otherwise - if you are joining this Challenge - can you just run through the last few posts on the 4th - to get the idea? Many thanks.

Default Labor Day Challenge

I'm so in this challenge! I hope you don't mind but I'll be weighing in since I do that at my diet center 3x a week and we have weight loss challenges there too. I'll just focus on woe here though...

I'm delighted to see you here BBJ1 Yes, I'll still weighin about every second week - just to ensure safe management - but I really want to move away from obsessing over the scale! DH has just confessed to me that he has been leaping on his scale twice a day! He says its to check that his weight movement is constant - OK - fine - I understand that and its OK to do that - but its not what I was doing! I note he is looking thoughtful as he has his coffee just now!!! Yes, I want to focus on this WOE and the consequent benefits for wellbeing and enjoying this WOL. We can summarise our experience at the end of the Challenge and if we wish, comment on gain or loss then - I will be recording my loss or gain at that time.

Heya mizkitty welcome to the Forum and to this Challenge! OK - when you join a Challenge its just basically checking in - telling us how you are meeting the Challenge, support others as they make their way through it and discuss the points raised, thereby adding to our collective knowledge base. Challenges are good because you get to know different forum members and how we cope with daily events and tasks and manage our weight. So this Challenge is about not jumping onto the scale daily - (but still keeping a weighin day - especially if you are a newbie to this WOE) We are focusing (until Sept 5) on what other benefits accrue (besides weight control) from eating fresh, minimally processed whole foods. For example - you might comment that you have heaps more energy and can exercise more or that your hair is looking shiny and healthy or that you can focus better - all of those sorts of things. All the good milestones that can happen on a worthwhile and exciting journey (in our cases to successful weight management!) Hope you enjoy it!

Here I am! I found ya'll. Okay, I'm gonna post my current weight here just for record-keeping purposes. Then I'm gonna do my best to stay off the scale. I may do what Beachfox did: have DH hide it from me!

Current weight: 229.

So, basically....Labor Day is about 8 weeks away. Wow! I'm looking forward to focusing on the journey and NOT the scale. Later!

O yep - good idea Maxibee - I'll record my current also - 145lbs. See where it goes eh! I also think this exercise will be useful to perhaps draw some conclusions about which suits us best - longer or shorter periods of weighins and why.

gosh this challenge is gonna be a toughie for me, i have a tendency to be number-obsessed... i think maybe i'll weigh in once a week and just try to hide the scale the rest of the time, see how much i can trust myself to be held accountable for my eating. i'd also like to set a goal for this challenge, just because goals keep me motivated... i'm going to shoot for the 140s. wish me luck, i know this'll be hard~

Very good luck to you leahruthie and delighted you are joining us! It is very difficult to keep away from the scales - I know! Its a good idea to set a weighin day - and just stick to it - that will be the way to go. I very much like the phrase you have used too 'trust myself to be accountable for my eating'. Somehow - it just seems to put one more in control or something? Not sure why - but I think its because if I'm obsessed with weighing in all the time - I feel as if the scale is in control and my decisions/options are somehow a reaction to what number I see there? I don't like that - I am not having it like that!

Awesome! I can handle that. Ok, just for the record my current weight is 172, I'm shooting for 160s. I can avoid the scales cuz I keep forgetting them at home! I've already noticed some really cool changes since I started last month, I actually have nails! Hehe. But I'll save the rest for when the challenge actually starts.

Last time I weighed on my home scales [a week ago] I was 195, butt naked but at Curves in the afternoon on their scales with all my clothes on I was 212 Gasp.....but I will be weighed again there on the 29th of each month so I will know if I have lost any, plus they will also do my body fat and measurements as well.....this is gonna be rough no peeking
