today is day 9
yesterdays counts were 41 carbs, and 1232 calories

I made a switch from cream to 1/2 and 1/2 this week,
I started eating veggie soup with my lunches last week (seems to help get more
veggies in.)
my breakfast this week is mini quichi with mushrooms, spinach and onions(more veggies)
still struggling with water, but working on it.

Carolyn - I made the switch from heavy cream to evaporated milk in August since I started counting calories at that time.

Then I switched to International Delight French Vanilla sweetened with Splenda because it made my coffee taste so much better than the evaporated milk. I didn't realize that it had more calories and carbs than the evaporated milk until after I had been using it for a while. I had entered it wrong into FitDay.

So, I switched from that to Coffee Mate French Vanilla sweetened with Splenda since it has the lowest calories and carbs. Coffee Mate also has a Hazelnut flavor that I haven't tried yet. Here's the breakdown per 1 tablespoon each:

Heavy Whipping Cream:
51 calories
.41 carbs (that's POINT 4)

Evaporated Milk:
20 calories
1.5 carbs

International Delight French Vanilla Creamer with Splenda:
30 calories
3 carbs

Coffee Mate French Vanilla Creamer with Splenda:
15 calories
1 carbs

I am going to make a switch back to the evaporated milk once my Coffee Mate is gone. Reason? Because the Coffee Mate lists corn syrup in the list of ingredients and the evaporated milk doesn't. Next to the word corn syrup they have asterisks which indicate "adds a trivial amount of sugar". Who are they to decide what is trivial and what isn't? How can they tout the product as sugar-free when it really isn't? Since corn syrup is listed SECOND in the list, I'm assuming there's more than a trivial amount of sugar there.

Besides, when I add a splach of the sugar-free DaVinci vanilla or hazlenut syrup to my coffee, it tastes just as yummy.

I dunno why I just wrote all of that. I just assume that someone will find the information useful. I dunno.

havn't had evaporated milk in a long time, do remember that it does taste ok in coffee....I notice that with cream I use less, with 1/2 and 1/2 I use more, creamer/coffee mate, more... international delights... probably too much....

not sure what the answer (drinking it black... but don't like it black)
so I am trying to hold down my coffee to two mugs in the am, and maybe a glass of left over in the evening as iced coffee....

tried tea one afternoon at work when I wanted something warm, had it with lemon juice and splenda... did the job...

Thanks for sharing that info, April. I've started drinking coffee again on my days off since it's been cool in the mornings. It's only 2 (HUGE) mugs of coffee a day, but the difference between the calories in evaporated milk and the calories in cream could make a big difference over the course of a week.

I agree with you that they shouldn't call the product sugar free, then put in a product that is actually worse than sugar (and has the same effects!). I love DaVinci syrups and put in way too much, but I like my coffee really sweet, and its not a horrible indulgence.

Been on track with carbs and calories, but too many desserts lately (all legal, all low in carbs, but I need more VEGGIES!). I had already defrosted the blueberries to make some carbquick muffins, but once they are eaten (the DS will help with that too), I'm going to go back to only jello and coffee for my sweets for awhile.
