I always wear pants to work, with a nice top, usually knit because it fits my big upper arms better, and I prefer 3/4 length sleeves. I have been wearing flats, and would like to wear ankle-high hose, but can't find them. Knee highs end up digging into my legs, and making my arthritic knee hurt, so I fold the knee highs down to make them ankle high. This is also good for those knee highs that just don't quite come up where they belong, and end up creeping down to the ankles, anyway. I have trouble getting pantyhose to fit, because they are usually way too long in the legs. They bag at the ankle, and I look like I have some horrible disease, like elephantiasis or dropsy.

Makeup? I seldom wear it. I've tried all kinds, and I just don't like the feel of it on my face. It doesn't improve my looks, anyway, so I don't bother. (It isn't because I'm so beautiful without it, either.) And when it's 95+ outside, it just sweats off. However, I do like to wear scarves and jewelry, rings, earrings, pins. Scarves are an inexpensive way to get color around your face, and dress up an outfit.

I NEVER wear heels. Period.

My DH bought me the Bare Minerals make-up for part of my Christmas presents. I hate the way make-up feels and the mask-like look it gives me (I'm really pale, so its hard to get a good match), but this stuff is awesome! I found a seller on eBay who ships really fast, and I'm planning to buy MORE! I was sure those infomercials were a lot of bunk, but this stuff really does do what they say it does. I look like me, only better, and it stays on all day, and I can't feel it! Next purchase is the stuff that can go under it and over it to help it stay on in humid areas, and I hope I can get it before it gets to be summer here.

I got the SheerCover a few months ago, and like it. It is pretty much like the Bare Minerals - but I have vitiligo on my face (white patches) and I am very self conscious about it. I hate heavy cover ups, but this stuff does seem to help.

meanwhile, I pretty much wear jeans and simple shirts to work - no one here to impress but the dogs.
I love to dress up when I go out for business - but right now having fitting problems - darn 15 lbs - and refuse to get anything until I fit into what I bought last year.
although dressing up for my business is still slacks or pantsuits. I work with manufacturing companies, and factories aren't very conducive to dresses.

but I love to dress up when given the chance, although that's not often.

FYI - I finally had highlights done to my hair several months ago - and OMG. I like the look, but can't sit there long enough and hate the cost.
So, I'm back to store bought, but using blonde colors. Never, ever tried colors that light before, but I love it, and so does hubby. (he hated the reds).

I've let my hair grow out, it's about shoulder length now and a dark blonde. I really need to get a new picture - I have a totally different look now.

Well I did it!! Instead of just washing & moisturizing my face I put make-up on. It feels good. I didn't put much on just some concealer to hide my dark circles under my eyes. My son was up sick last night : ( some eyelinner, mascara, & some lip gloss looks real natural. I also put on a pair of jean instead of my usual work out clothing & one of my favorite tops. I didn't do my hair though. I just puit it up in a clip. I watch 3 babies so they hang from it if I don't put it up. I got so much done today. My assistant was here & I was able to deep clean my kitchen... Wow feels so good. It is weird,if I am dressed to work I work. It just makes me feel like getting things done.

Katie, I've tried the mineral makeup, got it from Aromaleigh, which is much cheaper than Bare Minerals. It works well and isn't as uncomfortable as other kinds of makeup. They also have samples you can buy for a little bit of nothing. Just go to www.aromaleigh.com

I just don't wear much makeup because makeup doesn't improve my looks, so why bother?

Have you ever notice that in the plus-size catalogs (that use pencil thin models!), all the suits and dressy dresses have such skinny skirts? I'd love a nice suit, but have too much belly and hips for those skinny skirts, and the skirts are often either too long or too short. Don't you hate trying to sit like a lady in a skirt that's just a little too short? Fat thighs aren't conducive to sitting like a lady!

You guys I'm having so much fun sitting here drinking my tea and reading your e-mails. I'm the only girl here of this family of 4 so it is nice to chat with "girlfriends". I go to Wednesday church service tonight and even though I love my jeans and new white shirt I just bought I'm going to wear a dress. I bought a few at goodwill and can't wait. Today after I donated blood plasma at biolife I took the money I earned to Walmart and bought a black and tan dress shoes to go with my new outfits. They have little heal, that is wide so I don't kill myself, so now I feel so girlie. I haven't been able to find any makeup to match my skin color so I may try the ones you all mentioned here. I'm white as snow too Katie. I have two red head boys that are pretty white too.

Thanks for the tip about the other brand, Nita. I'll check it out

It's been so long since I felt PRETTY, ya know? Yesterday a guy actually held the door for me, and it WASN'T my son... pretty sad... my 4 year-old will open a door for me, but his Daddy won't :( Don't know why that bothers me.

I didn't dress up today. After having to use a SHOVEL to scrape the old drier lint off the laundry area floor and moving all those boxes and the old washing machine, I was just pooped. I did take a shower and put on some clean clothes... I'm going to touch up my make-up now and put my hair up. I need hot rollers or something... my hair is naturally very wavy/slightly curly but it only looks good until I have to brush it and then it's just frizzy looking. I like how it looks when I straighten it, but DH doesn't. Maybe I'll straighten it for my own happiness tomorrow.

I feel so good about how I look and my clean laundry area. I even ended up making DH a LC coconut pie for dessert tonight because I just felt too good not to do a little extra.

This thread was such a GOOD IDEA, Heather. I think we forget how much it can help us to LIKE the way we look. I wanted to cheat earlier (no reason, just craving sugar), and I went and looked in the mirror and remembered why I don't cheat. Until I started losing weight this time, I never realized that I AM PRETTY! I used to think I was kind of cute when I was a teenager, but I never really felt pretty before.

We're so much alike Katie. Once I wash my hair I brush it right away, hang my head upside down and put mousse in it, flip back over and go (unless I put barrette/clip/bun in. I leave it for the rest of the day. I can comb pick out little places of it during the day but if I do a full brush out it gets a frizzy Don King look. I never did it before this year and glad I started doing it. Seems so simple but looks like I actually take time to do it in the morning. ha! It's long now instead of shoulder length like I used to have it.

This weekend we met up with some old friends from college days. after 15+ years!!!!
I admit, I worked on my hair and makeup.

Highlight of the evening - when our friend Mel came up to me and said -
"you know, of all of us, you are the only one who hasn't aged at all"

I do feel I look better than I have for years. My skin is great because of all the water and good eating. The lighter colored hair has taken years off of me. I wish I was down that stupid 15 lbs and more by now. But it sure felt GOOD!!!!

So, girls, this is how we should feel:

I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
And I pity any girl who isn't me tonight.

I feel charming, Oh, so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel!
And so pretty that I hardly can believe I'm real.

Yep, that's us.

You girls and your hair. I am so jealous. Mine is fine, thin, and I have to keep it super short. Thank goodness I only have a tiny bit of gray right on top. When I get out of the shower, by the time I've gotten my real teeth brushed, my false teeth in place, and my face moisturized, my hair is dry and ready to comb. No need for a hair dryer. I sure would like some more hair. Want to share?

I might. unless I take the blow dryer to it, it is still damp 3 hours later.
even with the blow dryer, I usuall just give up - cause I'm sweating and getting stinky again.

But I do like my hair now.
I'll get a pic of it soon and post.

I have to admit that I'm sitting here after the gym and I don't want to take a shower and do my hair. I want to take a nap! But I have to go to the dietition this morning to show her my food journal and since I weigh in facing backwards I'm going to wear my new jeans I bought yesterday. I know that the scale will read more since she says that jeans weigh 3 or more pounds more then regular pants. The family isn't even up and so it'll be nice to get ready before they do.

I have on a pair of knit pants, and a knit long sleeve shirt which I'll probably regret because the temp it supposed to hit 80 today, but I'm inside all day, with ac running. I also put on a vest with a print front. I am wearing some sterling silver rings that my daughter can't wear anymore because she lost weight. My wedding band is too big, so it has now become a thumb ring. Still no makeup.
