Rob, we'll excuse you....this time....

I did 30 mins on the Gazelle, found a tape player that would play my very old Chuck Mangione tape (1977!), and I loved it because it has nice long upbeat songs. It made the 30 minutes fly.

I also did my weight work, 50 reps, 3 exercises, and some thigh workout with a contraption I got from Bethany when she sold Avon.

Rob, as long as you're getting some movement and not overdoing it.

Mom, I hope that "contraption" is working well for you.

I have the Bally's version of a ThighMaster, so I should probably work some with it, too.

I walked 2 miles with Xander and the carriage yesterday. We went down to watch a parade and then stood around for 3 hours. Luckily it was great weatherwise and we had a lot of sunscreen on.

Nita - good going! adding in additonal exercise.

Beth - I am trying to take it easy but not easy when walking 120 pounds of dogs.

Noel - good going on the 2 miles and standing around burns more xcalories than sitting around.

Rain from He** yesterday (AGAIN ) so I mall walked 2 miles. Have got to get back into some kind of exercise.

Rob, hope you're not overdoing it.

Did 30 mins on the Gazelle....music sure makes it go faster. Gotta get some really good music lined up.

Cleaned the kitchen yesterday (well, halfway). That's about all the exercise I got.

An interesting article on the accuracy of pedometers:

Nita, that's why I'm always leary of pedometers. I take surprisingly short steps for someone so tall. I had one that you set to your steps but I really want to save up and get the fancy kind...I think there's one that works with GPS.

Yes I have always known that about pedometers. well maybe not always but early on. I always calibrate my pedometers by walking a measured mile several times until i get my sttride length set for accuracy. and those reallly cheapo ones are useless. I never spend less than $12 which is still too cheap but I go through pedometers at the rate of 2 to 4 a year.

Well, I did 32 minutes on the Gazelle this morning, and increased the reps on my upper body workout to 60 for each of the 3 exercises. The little Gazelle computer said I burned 209 calories and went 1.71 miles. Of course, I don't think it's terribly accurate. However, it pleased me to no end to see the numbers. I am considering either pushing for 35 minutes, or see how close I can get to 2 miles. Probably whichever comes first!

Well, I lied. In my journal I said I'd get on the bike yesterday no matter what, and guess what? I didn't. Haven't been feeling too hot the past few days, though. Perhaps early this afternoon I'll have a go at it.

Another 32 min workout, although the computer thingy said I burned 189 calories and went 1.62 miles, so it says I worked less, even though I did the same exact workout I did yesterday, burning over 200 cals and 1.71 miles. Well, no matter. It was a good workout, and my knee is loosening up and working better.

Was able to do just 2 miles on the bike, but some is better than none, huh?

Yes it is Bethany! I didn't do 20 minutes. I'm not sure how long it was because I decided to leave teh cell phone at home adn enjoy our time out without distraction. We walked to the slides btu some rotten kids (or at least acting rotten throwing bark) made me think twice about staying so we left. So 4 1/2 blocks. which is only about 1/3 mile (about 12 in a mile here depending on the area). But it was better than nothing and reminded me that I need to wear better shoes. My knee hurt worse than when I walked to and from the parade.

I got up to 35 minutes on the Gazelle. Did not do the weight work...slept a little late, so I'll probably get that in tonight after work.
