Here I've been posting in June's thread, and it's the 3rd of July. Guess none of us caught it, unless someone started a thread and I missed it!

I'm posting what I posted on 7/1 and 7/2:

7/1
Today I attached the hydraulic cylinders to the Gazelle....it was like going uphill the entire way. I was only able to do 20 minutes, and was sweating like mad the entire workout. I'm going to take off the cylinders. I need more strength to do the workout with the cylinders. I also did 60 reps of 4 exercises for the upper body. And did some thigh workout with the Bally contraption I have.

7/2
Took off the cylinders, and today's workout was a breeze. It reminds me of typing and shorthand speed tests in high school. You think you'll never be able to do 50 wpm, then you do the 100 wpm speed test, and 50 wpm is so easy after that!

I did 35 minutes, the computer says I burned 236 calories and went 1.92 miles. In the next month or so I'd like to be up to 2 miles.

I also did the weight work today, 60 reps each of 4 exercises with 5 lb weights.

Thanks Nita I completely forgot to start the July challenge.

I'm still trying to take it easy but I did get in some walking yesterday between the central library and a large shopping trip to walmart.

Rob, a shopping trip to WalMart wears me out completely. I hope you didn't overdo.

I did 40 minutes - YES! - on the Gazelle. The computer showed 259.4 calories burned, and 2.14 miles traversed. YES! Now if I can just keep up this pace for the next couple of weeks, then perhaps I can move up to 45 minutes......

A month ago I never would have believed I could have done this much, me, the non-exerciser, the ultimate non-exerciser!

Haven't done much in the way of "regular exercise" the past few days. But we did go to San Antonio this weekend & got in a lot of walking. We shopped for clothes & went to movies, so I think I did fairly well as far as keeping moving. Will try to get back on the bike today, though.

Nita - Don't I know it. Just walking from the car to the dairy section was a hike and a half. Excellent progress on the gazelle!

Beth - walking around a big city can burn a lot of calories.

Still not walking due to a combination of needing to rest and the high heat and humidity.

Rob, I understand the humidity thing. It's so hard to breathe when it's humid. I'll take 100+ without the humidity over upper 80s with humidity. It's totally different heat, and the drier heat is easier to bear.

I did 40 minutes again today, and I feel worn out. I also did my weight exercises. I usually do the exercises first thing in the morning, w/o having eaten anything. I think I might start drinking a small protein drink just before and see if it helps with the stamina. Maybe a half a cup, just for a little boost. Can't hurt to try, except sometimes those things are hard to choke down.

Got up late, but still did the full 40 minutes on the Gazelle, this time working out to Itzhak Perlman playing some very interesting music. Quite lively most of the time.

Nita - I always feel worn out (or worn down?) after my walks. You're doing very well!

Walked 3 1/4 miles at the mall yesterday. Such beautiful weather today I'm probably going to take the dogs to Tanglewood.

Rob, how do you walk at the mall without spending a lot of money? (Because their prices are so high??!!!)

I barely got the 40 minutes in. It was hard pushing it this morning. I also did the weight workout, and added another exercise.

LOL - Nita I spent almost $11 for a single tiny miniature brandy snifter about 3 inches tall. Williams-sonoma. But it was my birthday.

As I promised the furkids I took them to Tanglewood for a good 3 mile romp. 75 degree weather with low humidity and the fact that they haven't been to the park in a week, had them really runnjing and jumping. I'm guessing they did 5 miles with all the running back and forth and side to side.
Sandy refused to come back at the end of the walk when we got to the car. Taught the little B*T*h a lesson. Drove away at 30 mph while she ran after the car at full gallop. Hehehe. I finally relented after 1/4 mile. she's still sleeping.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Poor Sandy! I'll bet it was a fun sight, watching her run! It would have been even funnier if she'd been a chihuahua, trying to keep up!!! I'll bet next time she'll come when you call her.

I did my 40 minutes this morning, while watching my copy of "The Lathe of Heaven", the science fiction movie (PBS version, NOT the horrible A & E version) of Ursula K. LeGuin's book. The book was fantastic. This movie is extremely good. Aired originally in 1980, then re-released for its 25th anniversary. If you like science fiction, you'd probably like this movie. I do. It made the 40 minutes fly, and Monday morning I get to watch more of it!

Nita - Will have to look for "lathe Of Heaven". sounds good.

Yesterday I took the dogs to the dog park where they had a ball with between 15 and 20 other dogs. But I parked 1/2 a mile away so i got in a mile of walking with 2 dogs on leashes pulling me with all their might trying to get there quicker.. LOL they lOVE the dog park!
