| The best thing I found with the start of OAP was the rapid loss. I'm glad it's working for you, Nita! I'm going to be doing a version that is in between OAP and DANDR. I will be keeping the counts lower as with the OAP but with net not total carbs. I just can't live without the flaxseed meal. I tried to start yesterday but messed up. But I stopped myself before going overboard for about 30 carbs. Today I'm going to keep my net total next to nil for a level one type restart.

| I've lost another pound! Wow, something is working. Don't know if it's the OAP or counting the calories, but I'm finally having a sustained downward trend. Noel, I think if you can find a balance between OAP and DANDR, you should have good success. The combo is still very lc, and the flaxseed meal is a must, too. I think that's what I plan to add back when I'm ready to increase my carbs. |

![]() Nita, glad you are down anothe r pound. I have lost right at 20 pounds for the month of October. Still keeping my carbs at 25 aday to. So far tis plan has been good for me and not all that hard to follow either. What sort of flax meals do you eat and where do you get them? Do you use soy flour or whole wheat flour? I was wondering if we could use it with low carb maybe to make some muffins or pancakes with. |

| I get my flaxseed meal from netrition.com, and particularly like Bob's Red Mill golden organic. You can use it to make pancakes, and it's what we use for the one minute muffin (see the Low Carb Cooking forum for the sticky on that). I don't really like soy flour, but will use it from time to time. When you get to maintenance, you can probably have some whole wheat flour, and when on ongoing weightloss, the tortillas made with whole wheat flour are ok. But that kind of thing could stall you, because it's so easy to overdo with them. Carbquik is ok, too, but it's another item to be careful with. Vital wheat gluten is also ok to make pancakes with, and I've even made bread with it, but again, it's really easy to overdo. |

| 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal, according to the info on the bag, has 4 carbs, and 4 gms fiber, so 0 net carbs. Some brands show a difference, but it's no more than 1 or 2, so you should be able to enjoy the flaxseed meal, and reap the benefits of the fiber and the omega-3. Burgers for breakfast again. Another lb gone, too. |

| I'm still sticking fairly close to the OAP, just using other veggies besides salad. It seems to be working, slowly, but I'm seeing more loss with this than when I did the other plan. I have added the lc cereal, and it hasn't made a difference in the loss. |
