Default No Cheat for Rest of 2006

This is my own personal no-cheat challenge, but anyone is welcome to join me. And it is going to be a challenge for me, because we have 2 events coming up in the next few weeks. We go to our grandson's Tuberous Sclerosis camp this coming weekend, and they always serve junk food, like pizza, cookies, s'mores around the campfire, this year there is fried chicken with mashed potatoes. Usually a salad bar for each lunch and supper, so I'm taking boiled eggs, cheese, perhaps a couple of lc shakes if needed, just to fill in the gaps.

The next weekend we have our annual vacation at Ft. Davis, TX. The challenge there will be eating at restaurants that have low-carb-friendly menus. We eat a lot of meals at the Black Bear, and it can be ok, but I have to make sure to tell them no biscuits with breakfast! They are huge, luscious, and dangerous!

I know that many of you have difficulties with the holidays, too, so if you want to hop in here for encouragement, come ahead!

No problem Nita. I'm with you all the way. I haven't cheated since the beginning of Oct. I have one month down. I notice a difference in jean size and clothes, but that darn scale won't budge. I'll get on it tomorrow. Anyway, no cheatin' for the rest of the year. I will definately join and keep you company.

Question: The OMM...That is good for the induction right? I haven't eaten off plan in over a month and that is okay right?

Ophelia, many people use the OMM on induction. It has carbs, but most are fiber carbs, which you deduct anyway. Just watch any additions, and make sure to count everything you add.

I have made it with unsweetened coconut (just reduce the flaxseed meal accordingly) and coconut oil and coconut flavoring, and have a marvelous coconut muffin. I've also used almond meal, for a little cake. Cocoa powder and some instant coffee makes a mocha muffin. Let your imagination run wild!!!!

Ophelia, 3 lbs, wonderful!

I have been being very, very careful about my portions, as well as carbs. Portion control has helped keep the calories down, too. Sometimes I feel I need a snack at night, so I either have a cup of tea or decaf coffee, or snack on a piece of cheese, or some low carb hot cereal. I'm also finding that I'm ravenous in the morning, which is forcing me to eat breakfast, whether I like it or not! Lately it's been my ricotta cheese "cream of wheat".

I did very well at camp, and am determined to stay the course during vacation next week. As long as I can get a salad with meals, I think things will work out. If not, I'll just eat a little of what I can, and wait for the next meal. I am determined to get this weight off, and cheating just won't do it!

Hi Nita, You are doing great. I to am like you, as long as i can have my salad I am ok.
I like my steak or any meat, and a nice salad for most my meals.
I have been making sugar free jello with whip cream on top for a snack.
I have been searching for some other low carb desserts to make but just cannot decide which one is the best or taste the best. Do you have any favorite?
I am down two more lbs. this week and just been losing steady for the last couple of weeks like that, but its coming off.
I have alot of my friends involved now in my weight loss and helping me alot by just calling and chatting with me about it or coming over for coffee. They all know how important I need to lose it for my health so they have been helping me out.
My knees are still hurting me bad, wish they would ease up so I could walk more so I can get some exercise. Our church has a gym I can use for free anytime I want and i want to go to it with the other girls when I can move around better. I am doing some chair exercises where you sit in a chair and do leg lifts, knee bends etc. My doctor gave me a chart to show me how to do them. I can also do them while laying in bed if I want.
I can gradually feel some strength come back in the knees and legs but I still have a long way to go yet until I can really do some walking and exercise like i want to do. I know in time I will get to where I want to be.
Take care Nita...see ya later.

It didn't do me a whole lot of good to be so careful at camp. I have gained 7 lbs. I know it's water weight, but still, it's extremely aggravating to be so careful and still gain.

We leave for vacation on Saturday, and I plan to still be careful. I can't afford to gain any more, and I really, really need to lose a lot more. I feel like I'm living on a treadmill, just not getting anywhere, not making any progress. Sigh.

I'm still determined to not cheat. No bread, no potatoes, no pasta, no sugar.

Nita--You'll get there..You are doing the right things and living a good life...Just remember, as we 'mature' it takes longer to lose weight, but those pesky lbs will come off...My mom is trying to lose 20 lbs (She use to be in the Army so she is a descent size) and it is taking her a little longer because she is ummm more 'mature'...So just take it one day at a time...I'm on the side line as a cheerleader for you Nita (A little bigger than those waifs)...You are doing fine...

No cheats for me....

No cheats yesterday, and today is starting out great. I am a little lax on the water, but I'm drinking more coffee and tea with the cooler weather, and my bladder can take only so much liquid!

You're right about maturity making it harder to lose. I find that it gets harder with each passing year. Now I have to really get serious about portion control, which was never an issue when I was younger. I could eat as much as I wanted, as long as it was low carb.

Since Saturday I have lost 7 lbs of my vacation carb fest. I even ate sugar (oh, no!) along with all the starch (had part of my son's banana split). I have 3 lbs left to lose of my 10 lb gain. A lot of it was water, otherwise it wouldn't have come off so fast. It will be a long, long time before I do that again. Probably the next time we go on vacation! It's so hard to eat out, you just have no control over the carbs, even when you ask for no potato or bread, they bring it to you anyway. And how do you resist biscuits made just like your Mama made them???? Sometimes the high-carb comfort food wins out. But once or twice a year it's ok to indulge. That's my opinion, anyway.

No more cheats for the rest of the year. I can do it, because I'll be eating at home, and I can control ALL my food choices, and not have anything in the house that I should not eat.

Hi guys!! If you don't mind I'd like to join this thread even though I feel like I cheated joining after Thanksgiving. But Christmas is a much easier holiday for me. My mini no cheat goal is to make it through to Saturday December 2nd which is my next LA Weightloss weigh in day.
