Default Winter 06/07 Couch Fauxtato Challenge

It's been a while since I've actually exercised, but I'm going to try to get back to it, so I'm starting a new challenge, since it's winter now!

I also found an interesting news item about gyms. Makes you think twice about jumping into a membership.

http://biz.yahoo.com/weekend/fitnessclub_1.html

I'm going to try to get back on the Gazelle, starting at 10 min per day. And do some strength training. Slow and gradual.

Anyone want to join me????

Thanks for starting this Nita! I hope we get more people in on it in teh New Year! So true about gyms and getting sick. I've had everything from the worst cold in 25 years to walking pneumonia. Not to mention several suspicious rashes. I no longer touch anything there and go through half a bottle of hand sanitizer as well as using their spray bottle disinfectant.

Haven't been to the gym since friday because of the holiday. Am going this morning in about 20 minutes.

My Gazelle is still waiting for me! I just couldn't wake up early enough this morning. Looks like I might have to start doing evening exercises, if I'm going to do them at all. As long as I don't do them too close to bedtime, it should be ok, I think. So, tonight I'm going to try to do some time on the Gazelle, and try out some strength exercises I found on the internet.

You'll get back into the routine soon!

Did 47 minutes on the treadmill yesterday and 35 minutes of weight machine workouts yesterday.

Added a 2 1/4 mile hike with the dogs at Tanglewood park yesterday. This morning was at the gym before 4:30 and did 3 1/2 miles on the treadmill in 50 minutes. and my 7 weight machine workouts. Today is supposed to reach the low 60s so I hope to get another tanglewood walk in.

Okay, I'm in. It's almost 7 p.m. here and I haven't exercised yet, but I'm going to! I think I'll put the color on my hair and get on the Gazelle until my greys are suffieciently tinted....sounds like a plan! LOL!

I swept and mopped the bedroom and both bathrooms, vacuumed the living room, washed 5 rugs, then all the rest of the laundry. Should have done more, but Mr. Knee said No more! Oh, and moved some DVD's from one shelf to another. Yeah, that was really hard work! LOL!

Good start!

I really wanted to start the first day of the year out right with a good long walk but rainy weather made the ground too muddy. So i did a few laps of walmart and came home and did laundry. all the laundry in all 3 hampers. I like to start the New year off with a clean slate. also a new bar of soap in the shower and a new toothbrush as well as a new razor blade. Also vacuumed the carpet and swept the kitchen floor.

This morning i did my usual 7 weight machine workout and 35 minutes on the treadmill.

I got home from work and jumped on the Gazelle for 10 minutes, did a few squats, just getting slowly back into the exercise groove. My goal is to get back up to at least 30 minutes a day, within the next month.

I did about 10 minutes on the Gazelle last night. I am planning on a circuit on the Parabody gym I have. I just need to make exercise a habit!

Good start Ladies!

walked almost 3 miles yesterday at Tanglewood park, more for the dog's sake than my own.

Did 11 minutes on the Gazelle, then some squats and leg kicks. I'm going to try to add one minute per day to my workout, so I will not only be gradually increasing my workout, but gradually getting used to getting up earlier. I am NOT an early riser.

I didn't end up on the Gazelle last night, so I have to do double time tonight! I have to be at work at 7 a.m., so it's hard to fit exercise in that early, especially since I am not a morning person.

I might do a round on the parabody, then do some time on the Gazelle. We'll see. I just know that I realize exercise is important to losing weight AND toning while losing.

Hi everyone. I need some help. Here's my sitch: I am in Germany, gave away my treadmill because I knew it wouldn't plug in here and didn't want to or know the specifics of transformers before we came. It's about 35 degrees right now, (I hate the cold-from TX!) and I don't have the money or German language efficiency to join a gym. HELP! (I know...waaaa, want some cheese with that whine?)

I know I could be doing some toning exercises, and climbing up and down the stairs 50 times, but will I? With no one in the house to watch me? probably not. Any suggestions? I am famous for playing games with myself, and I am thinking of making the upstairs bathroom "my bathroom" for everything except the shower. That would FORCE me to climb the stairs many times per day (what with the water consumption!)

I'm going to make this challenge of my daily stops, maybe that will shame me into doing something?

Heather, every little bit helps. Do you have access to any walking tapes you could watch, or other exercise tapes?

I did not get up in time to exercise, so maybe I'll sneak in a little at lunch, or right after work. As long as I don't do it too late in the evening, I should be ok. Going to try for 12 - 15 minutes.
