Default May Monthly Challenge

I know, I know, it's still April! But I have time right now to start this thread, so here goes.

Most of us can do a challenge for a specified period of time, and a month doesnt' seem too long, does it?

Pick your challenge - staying on plan for a month, increasing your exercise, drinking more water, cutting back on caffeine - whatever YOU need, that will be your personal challenge. We'll post how we're doing. You can post every day, or wait a few days, or just once a week. Whatever you need.

My challenge is to stick with induction for the entire month of May. A full 31 days of eating 20 gms of carbs, and keeping my protein intake higher than I have been. My second challenge - that dreaded exercise. The first challenge is a piece of low carb cake. The second one is much, much harder. We'll see how it goes.

Come join me!

OK, Nita, I'll be the first to join you for May. We have a big out of town wedding on May 26, so that will give me incentive to keep it real. I want to think about setting a goal, but I'll post that later. It is ok, Nita, for me to just post here about being exercise challenged? Just easier for me to keep up with both in one thread.

Susie, you post anything you want here. It's your place to challenge yourself for May.

I slept late, so breakfast was a quick whey protein shake. I added some Walden's sf blueberry syrup. It was yummy. Lunch will be salad with some sort of protein, maybe tuna - I have lots of it in the pantry.

Hey Nita, I like protein shakes that's a pretty good choice.

I'm off to a decent start today. Haven't eaten much, but it's weird stuff that I've eaten this evening. I wonder if I'm the only one who eats like this at times. had some pumpkin with Splenda and pumpkin pie spices. Ate some cottage cheese, a few wheat crackers. That was supper tonight.

Had a good breakfast and a nice bowl of homemade vegetable soup for lunch.

I'm posting it here so I'll have to tell if I didn't, but I'm heading to the gazelle. I intended to walk tonight, Ozzie & I walked last night and it was so nice. I didn't feel great when I got home from work tonight.

OK, I'm off to the gazelle. Ask me about it tomorrow!

Susie, lots of people snack for supper. As long as you're getting enough during the day, what does it matter?

I was on plan yesterday, having just salad for my carbs (and cream in my coffee). This morning I made a shade with milk & egg protein powder, and some strawberry syrup. I like the whey protein powder much better.

I'm down about a lb, so perhaps this is a good sign.

Nita, how did your day go?

I'm going to get on the gazelle and watch TV for a bit. Today went well. If I would just not snack late at night. Maybe if I do this...

I WILL NOT snack after 8:00 p.m.
I WILL NOT snack after 8:00 p.m.
I WILL NOT snack after 8:00 p.m.
I WILL NOT snack after 8:00 p.m.
I WILL NOT snack after 8:00 p.m.
(it's DH's fault, when he comes home from work we snack together)
I WILL NOT snack after 8:00 p.m.
I WILL NOT snack after 8:00 p.m.
(wonder how many times I need to type this)
I WILL NOT snack after 8:00 p.m.
I WILL NOT snack after 8:00 p.m.

Wednesday I did great. Had a protein shake for breakfast, a salad with a side of tuna salad for lunch, chuck steak and salad for supper, and a lc mousse for a snack. This morning I was down 1.5 lbs. I'm completely pleased with myself.....except for the exercise. It's still a problem for me.

Susie, does typing that over & over work? Well, if you're typing, it's hard to eat! LOL
My dh is a snacker, too. He loves to crack peanuts and eat them, gets shell & skin all over around his chair, too. Guess it could be worse - he could be one of those guys who has to have a bowl of ice cream every night. Thank goodness he doesn't have a big sweet tooth!

Thursday was fantastic! Protein shake for breakfast, salad with salmon salad and a Babybel cheese for lunch, and 2 cheeseburgers and salad for supper, a protein shake for an evening snack. This morning a coconut flavored protein shake. I love that new Magic Bullet I bought! It makes a great shake in nothing flat. So much easier than my old blender.

Friday night we ate at dd2's and had a really nice lc supper, just a few more carbs than I shoulda had for induction, but still quite legal. Still hanging in with induction. Today we're going to Super Wally World, so I'll get in loads of exercise.

My challenge for the month is to increase exercise. I walked a little yesterday and will try for 1 mile tonight. Wish me luck!

Now that my gall bladder is fine I stepped on the scale. It did move down but I'm not back in the 130's. I'm at 140 and for this months challenge I would love to be at 136. 4 pounds in a month is doable and healthy. Thanks for the May Challenge!!

I'm still doing good, eating 3 regular meals, (usually a protein shake for breakfast), having salad for lunch & supper, except last night I made coleslaw instead. And I did have a snack last night - whipped some cream & cream cheese with toasted marshmallow DaVinci's. It was just so good. I really need to up the water intake, and try to get into a regular exercise routine.

Hey Nita, I'm still here! I've just been busy the last few days. Staying on plan, need more water and exercise. Isn't that always the case. Hate to run, but I need to get ready for work. Have a great week everybody.

I'm still on induction, but gained back all I lost plus one lb. Phooey! I'm still sticking with it for at least the rest of the month.

Lost 2.5 lbs - again. So it has to be water weight. I always thought that induction was a natural diuretic, but for some reason I'm still hanging onto every ounce my body can hold, even using taurine and drinking lots of water and other fluids.

This morning I made a OMM, sliced it and toasted it, had it with cream cheese. I used about half a scoop of whey protein powder mixed in with the flaxseed meal. Give it a nice flavor and texture. Love that morning crunch!
