Lisa! Good to see you! You make sure to come back here in June. If you don't, I'm going to come drag you here!

I'm still eating induction level, and lost 2.5 of those 3.5 lbs. Perhaps I can get someone to squeeze me really tight, and force all that water out of my cells. Like in a wringer washing machine! Really, the taurine usually does a fantastic job. I just didn't take any at all Saturday, and with sitting all day, that caused the gain, and it took several days to get rid of it.

Everybody is doing so good! Mab, why don't you try weighing once a day, then every other day, then every 3rd day, and wean yourself off of weighing so often. It's so fantastic that you're feeling so much better with this woe!

Nita,
I am going to give the weaning a try!
Keep up the good work! 2.5 pounds is nothing to sneeze at!
I keep seeing it reference and have no idea what it is, could you tell me what taurine is?
Thanks!

Mab, taurine is an amino acid that Dr. Atkins used to use for his patients with congestive heart failure. It acts as a diuretic without stripping all the good stuff from your cells like regular diuretics do. So you get rid of the water and sodium, but not the potassium, etc. As long as I take it regularly, I don't have nearly as many problems with water retention. It is also supposed to be good for people with seizure disorders. Don't know why.

Here's some info I found on the internet:

Taurine may be helpful in some with congestive heart failure and hypertension. It has demonstrated some antiatherogenic effects in both animal and human studies. There is the suggestion, mostly from animal data, that taurine might improve glucose tolerance and protect against some toxins. Some older studies suggest it might have some antiseizure activity. There is preliminary evidence that it might be helpful in some with cystic fibrosis.

Taurine helps to stabilize cell membranes. Cats who don't get enough can go blind had have congestive heart failure. They have been putting taurine in infant formula since the 1980s to prevent retinal failure. Interesting, don't you think?

Hey Lisa, Vickie, MAB, Nita, & Carolyn,

I am very proud of you guys hang in there fellow LCE Gladiators you are all well on your way. Lisa make sure you enjoy you vacation and looking forward to you coming back to the "Induction Challenge".

MAB & Nita,

Stop worrying about the scale! I have been in the induction phase since March of this year and I have only lost 25 lbs, I say only because I have gone down 4 sizes (went from size 22 on March 9, to a confrtable 18 today) which impresses me more than a scale weight in my book. I lost the majority of the "scale weight" in March and I cheated a few times too. I exercise 3 times a week for 1/2 hour. I have been stuck at 264 since around the last week of April, but my clothes are still getting looser. Go figure! I know now for a fact that women loose inches and men loose pounds, at least n my case.

You guys are doing great don't keep beating yourselves up, I know easier said than done just be patient!

Okay, on to Day Three - stressful this am. As principal of a small Christian school, when a teacher is absent, I have to make sure they're covered. 7:00 phone call for 7:15 shift, so out the door with no food, coffee, or water! (Yes I did brush my teeth!) Sub came at 10:00, so I hit Starbucks and grabbed a salad for lunch. We have a Jack in the Box here and their Chicken Club Salad is my favorite fast food place salad. Bad news - back up to 149, good news - pink keto stick. I think I will stop weighing every day and try to stick to once or twice a week. That works better for me. I gotta hit the water next. Have a great Wednesday everyone. TTFN (tah tah for now)

Still at induction level, weight still hovering, not moving. I've been at this weight for so many months, I was just sure that doing induction would make a difference. So far, I'm just yoyoing within that usual 5 lb range, not making any progress. I've been on induction since 4/30, should have seen some kind of progress, but not. My clothes fit the same.

I'll continue with induction for the rest of the month, but if I don't see any progress, I'm going back to OWL, even though I never had any ongoing losses at that level, either.

At this point I have resigned myself to the fact that, no matter what level I do, my weight is staying put, but my health is better, and that is a major plus for me. It wouldn't be such a thorn in my side if I were close to ideal weight, but I'm way, way, way over, and have too much to lose for this not to be working anymore. I've already lost 75 lbs, but that was like 4 years ago, and I'm still hovering within this 5 - 10 lb range, and I'm sick of it!!!!!

Hey gang....day 4 for me. I had a little bit of insomnia last night...which is always my first indicator that my body is in ketosis...so I checked....I am

on the subject of the scale....I just don't weigh myself much. It's more pressure than I can take...LOL. I will weigh myself when I finally make it back in to curves on Monday....and then MAYBE once a week. But no more than that. I find that weighing myself too much is really just a discouragement to me.

Nita!
75 pounds? And you have kept it off for four years?!
Girl, give yourself some credit!
I am not seeing that pesky scale move either but you and me, we have to hang in there.
And, you should be giving yourself credit where credit is due. You rock!
Do you know how many people lose that kind of weight and then put it back on? Not you, sista!
Do you have a picture of yourself at 75 plus pounds ago? Maybe you should pull it out and take a look. You know you are smaller, healthier and have so much more energy now than you did with that 75 pounds you were lugging around.
You can do this. You haven't gained that back and that is a HUGE accomplishment.
Keep it up girl! You can do it! Look at what you have already accomplished!

Thanks, Mab. Sometimes when we get discouraged, it's nice to see things from someone else's perspective. You're right, I've come a long way, it's just that by now I should have dropped an additional 75 lbs, having stayed on lc all this time, with just a once or twice yearly stray from my plan. (Vacation, and my grandson's camp weekend we attend). That's it.

You've been a great help. Thanks.

Aloha everyone. Pinker color on keto stick today, so that is good. I hadn't realized how carb creepy I had become until really sticking to induction. Also had almost completely gotten away from drinking water!! I am feeling better, not as hungry, and I think I'm like you Vicki, insomnia Tuesday night. Didn't realize it could be from ketosis. Nita, I hope you find an answer soon. I know Atkins talks about a fat fast for someone metobolically resistant, I don't know if a few days of that would help or not. Are you able to exercise or walk? You are such an encourager to all of us, I wish I could wave the whoosh fairy wand and make it all better. Everyone seems to be sticking with induction well - A+ everyone! Start psyching up for the weekend ya'all!

Gail, Lisa, Mab, Vickie, Carolyn, we are doing great! We're eating right, we are drinking our water, most of us are exercising, we're getting a handle on our health, we are just fantastic!

I started the day with a double-dose protein shake made with whey protein powder and Walden Farm's strawberry syrup. It's a great way to begin a busy day. Way more protein than eggs, and tastes better, too! (I do not like eggs for breakfast. They are great for lunch or supper, but I need to be awake to like them for breakfast. When I'm still drowsy, a shake or a OMM are just fine.)
