| I've been reading Dr. Bernstein's "The Diabetic Diet". I like his approach to doing low carb. He says to have the equivalent of 6 gms of carbs for breakfast, 12 for lunch and 12 for supper, and try to have the same amount of protein from day to day, using your basic hunger as a guideline. Simple. He sees no benefit in starting out very low and then gradually increasing the carbs. Of course, this is what's best for diabetics, to keep their blood sugar on an even keel, but why not for the rest of us, since it's blood sugar that causes insulin to flow, and insulin is the "fat hormone"? This may be the best line of reasoning for me.

| Today is day 37 for me, NITA, throw away your scale..... you are becoming obsessed, and you are making yourself upset over and over... how else can we help you.... I know it is frustrating for you... you are eating on track, and you gain you lose, you gain...etc.... just keep on keeping on..... c

| Naw, Carolyn, if I were obsessed, I'd be on the stupid scales several times a day. It's easier on me to weigh every day, than to wait with anticipation all week and then get on them and find no results. That's way more frustrating.

| Day 47. Nothing much to report. Still sticking to plan. Next week is going to be a real challenge to my challenge. I have to go to Austin for a training, for 2 days, which means eating in restaurants for all 3 meals. Looks like there's a Jim's nearby, it's always a good lc bet.

| Carolyn, we'll be at the Drury Inn on N. I-35. There are quite a few restaurants right in the area. I'll be there with the Section 8 Housing Manager, she'll eat anywhere I take her, she's not picky. We'll get there sometime Monday evening, and leave immediately after the training on Wednesday, or even sooner if we feel we can sneak out and avoid the rush hour traffic. I hate Austin traffic almost as much as Houston traffic.

| Day 48. I've been dreaming again that I've cheated. Wonder what that means. I have no intention of eating off plan. And, I didn't bother to weigh this morning. Figured, why bother?

| Day 50. Halfway there. I've got a cold, or allergies, or something else, lost my appetite somewhat, just eating what seems good, not worrying about tracking today. However, nothing not low carb so far. I did eat 2 bowls of a low carb maple flavored crunchy cereal, Smapps, from Netrition. Yeah, should have probably had chicken or something, did not want it.

| Although I went to the gym after I had a big dinner I'm not going to count the day as good. Not with only 3 weeks left until final weigh in. Need to eat to lose weight not maintain - lol. Today will be 45! |
