wooohooooo everyone, super results!!
I'm in the middle of some Jerry Springer family drama right now (may go into that in more detail either in the OT forum, or my blog here) anyhow, I was up REAL late and it's resulted in me NOT (I'm such a dork, just caught that a day later!) being hungry. To counter that I'm going for some good higher carb veggies at lunch today - I figure that'll will off set my only having had chicken broth and coffee this AM. Cheesy chicken and an artichoke for lunch, dinner - not a clue, I really just want to go home and straight to bed after work, but I'll manage something, I know from you all here how very important it is to eat normally.
hmmm, would a dinner of just strawberries and whipped cream be so bad??????

Way to go Monica!
PQ~ we can do 20 days!
Tara hope the drama calms down. I eat some pretty wierd meals when lazy or tired. I had ricotta with protein powder for dinner and a few cantalope balls. wierd but good and easy.

On track here! Exercise~ yep!

I wanna play!!! I just started 4 days ago and I am down 7lbs already. I was shocked when I saw the scale. I havent seen those #'s in yrs...OMG!!! I lost weight about 7yrs ago...80lbs. I had to work out like a mad dog to lose it...I am talking 2-3 hours a day EVERYDAY. I didnt think this was normal but it was working so I did it. My daughter hated me...called me selfish because I was alway at the gym, track, or hiking in the woods somewhere.
I met my husband and had another baby and gained all my weight back. Yes, sad I know. ..but what is even worse is when I had no time for the gym or myself with a new baby...who is now 5 and still a handful...but even sadder is when I felt like crap all the time , had no energy and lived for the 2 hour nap everyday or to go to bed by 7pm...before my son...lol After a while of this I finally went to the Dr. I found out I had metabolic syndrome. I was battling hypoglycemia and high blood sugar all day everyday and night...I have high blood pressure, which no one in my family has ever had, I have high cholestorol and high triglycerides....and am basically falling apart. By the way, I will be a mere 40 on April 12th...too young to feel this crappy!!!
I started reading and then I read some more. I read everything I could find on metabolic syndome, and all its glorious symtoms. I decided that I didnt have too low insulin...which is what the Dr was treating me for. I had too high insulin. I was eating too many carbs. It didnt matter if I was only eating 800 calories a day...if they were all carbs, I wasnt going to lose an ounce or feel better. I had to do something to stop my body from putting out so much insulin. Insulin is a very powerful drug that causes your body to burn glucose if you are working out, or taking flight, but if you are just lying around on the couch, it is going to store all those carbs for later...in my case, besides a little bit of all over...mainly in my stomach. I look 12 months pregnant all the time. Oh yes the giant muffin top is me...lol I havent had a waist line in years and I am not sure that it is even still under that struesel topped muffin, but by gosh I am going to find out!!!
Immediately after cutting the carbs I stopped having bouts of hypoglycemia and no more spikes either...WOW!! I ditched the pills that make my body produce insulin. We were treating me for the wrong thing. I cant wait to see what happens. I saved all my "skinny clothes". I wonder how long it will take now that I learned the secret of what kind of fuel to put in my body. I am totally excited!!!

So how do you do this 30 day thing...personally I am going to make it a life change, but I will start on 30 days ...lets go

Welcome aboard Amy,
The concept of the 30 days....is one goal at a time. In the past 6 pounds on program was a downer. This is reasonable for everyone that wants to lose 5 pounds to whatever amount. By no means will this stop at 30 days. I'll give you a sneak peak....after the 30 days...I will do a 45 day challenge.
Also this is 30 days no cheats, no excuses, do it for yourself!

This is me time. This is the Summer of PQ! I don't have children so, I don't have anyone to rely on me other than my fiance. Who can hold his own on things!!! Post often!!
Down 7.2 this morning!!!

Hey crew!!! Having a super day - clothes are getting loose!! AmyC, welcome. We basically just log on here, chat to each other via posts and encourage each other to stick with it. For me, I find having the daily accountablity of staying low carb helps a lot!!

dinner last night was NY Steak, sauteed mushrooms and half an avocado

B - OMM Muffin, chicken salad, strawberries
L - lamb chops (yum!) cauli mash
s - cheese
Dinner plan is a bunless turkey burger with lots of onions and tomatoes, maybe topped with some cheese? I'll see how I feel!

Hi Amy! Welcome!

Howdy challengers! I had a heck of a day. Our power went out at 10 last night and still wasn't on when I left for work at 8am. Since we have a well we also had no water and a 47 degree house. Ugh! So fun brushing my teeth without water. Not! I thought I'd go through the drive thru and grab a LC hardees breakfast bowl but alas I forgot I gave away all my cash! I had a few nuts at work so that was breakfast (huuummm I think I need a big purse stash like PQ!).
No time to grab lunch. Booked solid! Gosh I was feeling dizzy! I ended up eating a small piece of bananna bread someone brought in. I cooked burgers for myself for dinner but honestly am too wiped out from getting no sleep and work to make more. Not a stellar menu I know!

OK...I think I need to go get the book. I basically dove right in just using the menus and maybe I dont really know what I am doing here. The weight dropped drastically the first 5 days. I lost 9lbs. I chked my ketones and I was in the purple...good thing. Yesterday we did Easter and for the most part I stayed low carb. I had a sample of a few casseroles...mostly cheese and vegis but they probably had carbs and one pineapple cheese casserole thing. I scraped all the cracker and bread toppings off and only had a spoonfull each of the ones I tasted and we went on a walk so I dont think I did too terrible. This morning I am only down one color strip on the chart so I guess I didnt do too much damage. That is not really the problem...I think I am getting too much salt. I am very salt sensitive and swell very easily. I am up nearly 2 lbs today and my rings wont come off. So I am swollen. I dont think I gained any weight from eating...I think I am retaining water. So...what I am guessing here is that I still need to watch my salt intake AND choose lean meats that arent injected with a lot of salt. I love bacon on my cobb salad but it is soooo salty that I dont think that is a good choice for me. What do you guys think? I need the book?? I need to watch the salt and meats that I choose? Low carb doesnt mean eat all you want just no carbs...you still have to watch the calorie intake right? Also, when your ketones are high, my theory is that it doesnt necessarily mean it is YOUR stored fat that is being converted to ketones...if you are eating too much fat in your meats and dressings then that is also being converted to ketones for energy...right? So it would be like carbs except that they dont re-store as fat. So you are not going to lose if you are over eating even if you dont eat carbs...right? You still have to watch your calorie and fats and in my case salt. Keep me on the right track here people. I am off to such a great start I dont want to back slide.

Amy I think the book is a really good idea. Also there is no reason you need to eat lean meats unless you like them. The fat helps keep you satisfied. I personally do better with lots of fat but everyone is different.

I'll copy and paste from my journal. I was not a good eater yesterday~ um dessert and gastric distress anyone???????????????? Why ???????????I am still asking myself !!!!! I spent all night in the bathroom.

Ok I didn't do well yesterday. I'm not kicking myself as my bg and tummy (still!) have definitely punished me quite enough. I still feel yucky. I have not had a blow out like that in a very long time.Every 2 weeks I might have a scoop of icecream etc but nothing like this! I also have gluten issues so I am and was truly miserable. It wasn't the food MIL made that I had it was the 2 layer peanut butter cup cake I made. I was very good but not worth the tummy/bathroom issues and the blood sugar surges and crash. I think my piece was as big as my face (not really but huge). I honestly hadn't had cravings in ages until I started baking my masterpiece cake.
Gee just Sat I was getting compliments on my figure and Sun I have a cake blow out. Yep it really is an addiction. My tummy and ummm unmentionable issues are still acting up.

My weight of course jumped. However due to where I was in my cycle I had already jumped 2 for no reason. Now add 2.5 to that. Blah!

My b day is next week and Mom had planned top take me out for an early b day luch since this is my only free day? Do I want to go eat? No. However I am going. Hope my tummy and issues are one by 11

Did you make through the second ultimate chocolate day without a cheat??????????????
I did it!~ I made it without the cheats!!!!

Amy,
The book is essential! Must read. It answers so many questions!~ Over & over again. I re-read it ALL of the time. The weight will come off...the way that I see it is that my weight has no other way but down. Deep breath....it will come off be patient and read up.

So I have TOM today but as of yesterday I was creepin at almost 10 pounds down. No pms this time...no bloating...infact the uncomfty feel that I get the first day isn't there with my clothes atleast....in fact they are lose this morning and I could wear a shirt today that I wouldn't of thought of wearing any other time!

Mick! You can do lunch for your celebration of your day! Go for it! No fear. You know what you can and can not eat. You know the beaten path! Eat your salads with the creamy dressings and your grilled meats...and enjoy! Trust me come summer you will be thankful that you didn't indulge. Indulge in a pedicure or something ike that instead!!!

Can't wait to hear about everyone else's holiday!!

Do tell!!!

Hi! Well the scale is really paying me back. Up 2 more today. Yesterday was on track. Had a nice lunch with MOM. Today is hubbys b day so I'm going out again tonight. No fear of cheating after spending hours miserable and in the potty sun after the cake.
I didn't sleep last night so I am not perky. However I did get a y 1.5 mile walk in.
I'm trying not to panic about the huge scale jump. I'm also in the pms heck so I'll expect it to stay about 10 days.
