| I hope your UTI isn't back, they are such a pain. Lavender, Glad your trip went well even under the circumstances. And I'm glad to hear that your eating went well. That was a plus. Everytime I go out of town, everyone is always trying to stuff me full of everything I shouldn't have. |

| Thanks, ladies ![]() Wow, that's alot of chicken, Nita! I love chicken. For me, chicken and ground beef (or turkey) is very versatile. Cooking isn't my thing anymore so the easier/quicker the better! I hope the UTI goes away. Had one a few years ago and I remember it not being fun.

| Had to be in Dallas for a few days, grandson had to go there to see the dr, some scary problems, turned out to be medicine related, had to cut back on one of his meds because the new one was spiking an old one. Anyway, I ate and ate and ate, all kinds of stuff I shouldn't have, bread, pasta, dessert, pancakes. Sigh. No scales today! Back on plan now. Actually, I'm not hungry.

| So sorry about your grandson, but glad they found out what the problem was. I knew once I posted staying postive was my goal for this month, I'd get hit with being negative! I really thought I'd be seeing more success than I have so far. Well, I am as far as feeling better anyway. But even without weighing Saturday, I can tell I haven't lost any more weight. I've still got 2 more weeks before I measure again, but my clothes aren't any looser. I could handle the pounds not coming off if the clothes were getting looser. I'll be getting back to exercising today and posted in my journal that I'm going to go back to a week of Induction and hopefully I'll start seeing some more progress. Stay positive, stay positive, stay postive ..

| Lavender, we all hit bumps where we don't lose, even when we have been extra diligent. It can be frustrating, but just stick with it. Eventually you'll see an improvement. Yesterday I just couldn't seem to get on my plan, had to keep eating stuff that, although not necessarily bad for me, was higher in carbs, like the blackberries my son-in-law brought us. Once I started on those, I wanted to eat all day long, and I did. This morning I ignored the berries, had a nice protein shake, had chicken legs for lunch. Supper has not been planned, but it will be some good protein. As long as I start out right with a good protein shake, I'm usually ok for the rest of the day, and I don't get hungry when I get enough protein. I might just have to make sure to have only protein snacks and meals available, and forget the fruit. Once I eat fruit, even berries, I just want to keep eating, and nothing seems to satisfy me.

| Heck, I haven't even been on the highway long enough to hit a bump! But I am a very slow loser. When I did WW, it took me almost 6 whole months to lose 15 lbs. But, as I posted in my journal (thank you for your encouragement!) I will plug along. I love eating this way!At least berries is way better than cookies or other carbage. I'm with you on the protein snacks as well as fat. Fat helps keep me very satisfied. I'm getting on an egg cream/shake thing for breakfast and even snacks and love how they keep me going. I never thought a shake would keep me satisfied until lunch like eggs and bacon or sausage would but they do. I was looking at another board and found some pumpkin shake recipes. I think that is going to be my snack when I get home.

| Hi Ladies, I keep forgetting to check in. Shame on me. I've been a bad girl too, can't seem to get focused these days. I guess I need to just sit down and plan things out again. My mother gave me a bunch of cherries a few weeks ago, I put them in the freezer. Now don't ask me why, but I absolutely love frozen cherries, I eat them while they are still frozen, and I can just eat and eat and eat them. But now for some reason I have no appetite for them. That's a good thing otherwise it would be one more thing to discourage me on my plan. Lavender, this must be a phase right now, it seems to be hitting us all. Keep that positive thinking and stay focused. It is so easy to get discouraged when you don't see the results that you want to see, but it will come, so just hang in there. |

| Thanks, Nicola, I'm hangin' in! I've really done well eating this way and stay pretty darn satisfied. I googled "atkins slow losers" and pulled up an old archive on another forum full of "turtles". It was very encouraging!Have you ever had frozen grapes? What plan are you following (just curious)?

| Hi Lavender, Yes, I have had frozen grapes, love them too, especially green ones. I follow Atkins. Seems to be the easiest for me to follow. You know sometimes when you are at stall you have to look seriously at what you are eating and change things around a bit in order to get going again. If I start writing everything down I usually always figure out what my problem is. Then it's back to basics for a while. Which by the way I need to do at the moment. Thought I would wait until I have time this weekend to plan my meals again for the next week. Until then I am just trying to keep things under control. I am sure there are a lot of "turtles" everywhere, so you are not alone. Just keep that positive attitude Lavender, it does wonders. |

| I'm a turtle with some snail thrown in! LOL! I'm finding that in order to lose and keep the losses, I have to keep my carb count extremely low. Adding things just makes me sit in one place, or even gain. I guess I need to put most of those berries in the freezer, and use them for the occasional breakfast shake. Otherwise I'll just nibble until I've had way too many. This morning I made a double chocolate protein shake, and put a little flaxseed meal in it. I use almond milk for the base, and it's quite good. Lunch was 4 sausage links and 1/2 a lavash flatbread, and a cup of gazpacho I whipped up last night. So some good veggies, although probably more sugar than I need, from the tomatoes & peppers. But it was just one cup, and very good. My husband was skeptical but found that he really likes it. I have some pork chops in the fridge, perhaps I should grill them tonight. Maybe make a romaine salad before the lettuce turns......

| What's odd is that I'm pretty much eating what I did on induction. I had lost a couple of pounds before beginning Atkins, then lost almost 4 during Induction. I find I'm still staying at Induction carb levels and am kinda floundering at moving up a bit. That's because I figure if I haven't lost anymore (will weigh tomorrow) since then, I'm not sure I should move on up. I guess I should move up to the first rung just to see if maybe I start losing. I guess I'm just kinda stumped because I've only been on this just shy of 5 weeks; it's not like I've been on it for a couple or few months and have stopped. Ick .. sorry if I'm beating a dead horse. Ok, enough of that .. we'll see what the end of the month brings. Oh, I did notice something yesterday. I looked at some pictures of me and DH taken in December and compared them with the pics taken when we went to my aunt's service 2 weeks ago. I'm going to let my DH look, but I think I can tell a real difference in my face and neck area between the 2 pics. I had a coat on in the most recent pics, so I can't compare the bod. Maybe I'm losing from the head down.

| Lavender, I lose in my face and neck first. As far as staying on induction, there are 2 schools of thought. One is that you can stay at induction indefinitely without any harm, the other is that you should start adding carbs right away. For me, if I don't keep my carbs really low, then I just don't lose - period. That's probably why I've been stuck at this weight for so long, because I'm adding things that bring the carb count higher. I should probably stick with my proteins and the 4 cups of salad/veggies a day, indefinitely. It might be what I need to do. Anyway, February is shot, due to the out-of-town splurge. My other downfall is weekend eating. I tend to not have structured meals on the weekends, which is no good. I'm going to start a March challenge, and mine will be sticking to induction for the full 31 days of the month, regardless of what comes up. And during those 31 days, I plan to limit my sweets to the sweetener in my hot tea, no sodas or lc desserts. I'll weigh on Sunday morning for a baseline, then weigh again on the 31st to see if I made any progress. And I should probably measure, too. With hot weather coming soon, I need to get a few more pounds off. BTW, I did the no-no of skipping breakfast, but was not hungry, still not, and 15 minutes to lunch. I have leftover salmon patties in the fridge for my lunch, don't know what dh will eat, maybe the last of the chicken salad. He's not a salmon fan. All the more for me!

| Nita, sometimes I feel as though if I am losing, it's from the top down. I keep waiting for somebody to say something about my face and neck, but nobody has. I keep thinking if I can see it, why can't anybody else. But, I know that not everyone says anything because I've been the same way when I see someone looking as if they've lost some weight. I will think it, but sometimes never say anything. I reported in the Spring Challenge thread that my scales showed me being up 2 lbs. Saturday. That's up from my ticker (which I'm not going to change in anticipation of exercising this week will help), but it also means that since beginning lc'ing Jan. 1 (or 2nd), I've not even lost 4 lbs. :( I peeked at a couple of measurements but there's really no big changes. I may go ahead and up my veggies and move up in OWL. I'm just afraid that, like you, I'm going to have to keep the carbs really, really low to lose anything. Weekends used to be my downfall, too, with no week routine to help keep me balanced. But since lc'ing, I have found I have to remember to eat, something that is so new to me! ![]() I wish I liked salmon. My DH loves it; I am just not a fish person. Except for tuna fish (in a can!).

| My best results were when I stayed on induction for about 4 months. Lost right about 40 lbs. The lower the carb count the better I seem to do. So I'm with you on that Nita. I would probably do much better if I could just get some exercise in. just seem to keep having problems with that. Lavender, Do you write what you eat down everyday? I know I hate doing it but when things aren't going so well, if I start keeping track of everything I do much better. Just a thought. |

| Nicola, yes I track everything in The Daily Plate. I'm rarely ever over 20 net carbs, usually a couple under.
