Mrskropp - way to go. I can't wait to see that change! I was actually down .5 today, and it's been a bit of a stall. I'm thinking the weight training may be adding a bit of lean muscle in there (4th week on that), so I'm not too excited about it. More excited about the trip to the Dr. today to hear about lipid profile.

    wtg Suzanne!!

john, I sent to the other email addy science, & self image.

there should be foods1 & 2 and lies...let me know if you didn't get those.

If you read far enough he does give a phase 3 which is low carbs....please keep in mind almost 90% of the carbs he does have you eat are very good carbs and low GI...eventually in atkins you should have gotten to where you can add bunch of those back in....if he says banana and you don't feel comfortable w/that have some strawberries or blueberries etc.

My b-fast every morning consist of 3/4 oatmeal and 1/2 granny smith apple and 1.5scoops of my protien powder...its all good carbs.

at lunch and dinner i have brown rice or low carb flour tortilla or sweet potatoe all these have LOW GI and of course each those I get cup of brocolli or green beans or asparagus.

I eat 1800 calories a day right now and he might up me to 2000 or higher eventually....he did say later we will cut the carbs some but he wants to raise my metabolism first...now keep in mind this is my personal trainor (who is also bodybuilder) and not Tom's BFFM stuff but I feel its very similar ...i am just drinking 3-4 protien shakes days 2 of them i add carb powder to also (which atkins folks wouldnt).

    hope this helps.

got in 35mins on elliptical (glider) and will do bi/tris tonight.

    Meech,

thanks for the info. I'm at home today, Dr. appt. I also appreciate the diet hints.

Unfortunately, my cholesterol was UP from 259 to 279, LDL - 200 HDL - 60 Trigl - 113. Doc says if it doesn't turn around by next year, we'll probably have to try meds. I had it done a week before I started Atkins. For sure, I'm gonna have to give up my favorite Atkins parts, bacon and butter.

Tom Venuto had both bacon and hot dogs on his 12 foods NEVER to eat. I'm hoping the weights and cardio will help out the cholesterol, too. My BP was great, 120/80, so no probs there. A little depressing, but I'm feeling it's time for a bit of a change in direction, anyway. The BFFM method may be a good one.

John sorry to hear bout cholestorol numbers but glad about the BP....My trainor says I can eat WHATEVER I want on my cheat meals ....as long as i don't miss that next meal....I had baconcheesburger last week and will probably have another this week w/dairy queen blizzard.

Most my next meals are protien shakes.

Feel free to ask any more questions you might have for me and if I don't know I will ask my friends on the other board who just started Tom's program.

got my ultimate chopper in today which means I can now blend my shakes instead of hand shaking them YAY!! they taste soo much better now.

I wanted to work more w/weights and have the figure competition look ..not sure if i will compete but maybe.

So I am on similar diets to what bodybuilders do....most of this stemmed from reading Body For Life stuff.

Low GI means glycogen Index...how fast food spikes in your system.

I got in bi/triceps tonight boy did he make them burn.

Another day of exercise is behind me...1 hour on the treadmill! I will soon run out of reading material and will have to go to book store!

Junie - One hour on the treadmill, that is truly great. How fast do you walk while you're reading. I have a "treadmill" injury on my knee :-)

Star - thanks again. folks on a different forum found some positive signs in the lipid numbers, so that's great. I didn't get (or couldn't find) the science and self-image articles. if you want to send them to the golfunit@yahoo.com address again, that would be excellent.

I'm definitely enjoying Tom Venuto's writing, and I plan on writing out some goals very soon. I've never really tried that. The affirmations may make me crack up, because I'll be thinking of Al Franken doing "Affirmations with Stuart Smalley" on Saturday Night Live.

"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me" Perhaps that should be my new signature???

All right - 4 weeks down on the Graeme and Kate weight/cardio DVD. I can feel some good changes in the body already. Bought some new jeans Wednesday.

Meechel - I got the other two files. Already I'm really enjoying the self-image talk. Amazingly right on. I like the way Mr. Venuto gets into the mental aspects, and he's right, it's uncomfortable at first to think about it, but necessary for permanent change. Also, congrats on making yourself do the bike this morning.

MrsK - that sig line is getting really close to a big milestone!! It won't be long. I've got to watch that thing drop over 20 lbs. so far. ( I started lurking on the old board the last couple weeks of June )

John good for you for reading and writing goals....self-sabatoge is one of the worst things holding people back on weight loss and reaching goals. I like his style of writing and glad your enjoying it.

glad your liking kate's DVD it was good way to get me started on my journey.

Suzanne wow your doing great getting close to that onderland!!! remember go at tortoise pace and you will win the race!! and it will stay off.

Thanks, guys, for the encouragement last night hubby and I drove to the big city which was 90 miles away to do a bit of shopping at walmart (yes, that is the one closest to us) so we didn't get back till 11pm and luckily didn't hit any deer.

Needless to say no exercise this morning but will get in my walks today at work plus will weighttrain this afternoon when I get home.

you are right, Meechel, a little bit at a time OH and guess what????? remember the two pairs of jeans that I bought at a garage sale back in July for .50 cents each (they are designer jeans too) and I couldn't fit over my hips.well.....happy dance here) One fits and I could zip up and button!!!!!!! it's still a little tight but I was soooooooo happy...the other pair almost fits so.....))))))))
