If consuming more than 48oz of water in an hour is dangerous, I should be dead. There are some days I hit 3 20oz bottles in an hour...

But, I'm curious to know...

I have read that too much water can be consumed, but it seems to me that the numbers were much higher to put yourself in danger.

I just went to www.water.com and it said "with the exception of certain health disorders, you cannot drink too much water. Your body will use what it needs and expel the rest"

I have also drank 48 oz. plus within an hour, with no apparent harmful side effects.

I'll keep an eye out for other references to this topic and put them in here when I do.

John

Lisa - there's even a medical term for it "hyponatremia". Usually found in ultra-endurance athletes (triathlons, decathlons) when too much water is consumed in a short period of time while exercising and not enough food taken in. Also, some people with OCD re: water intake may suffer from this condition. But we're all perfectly normal here, right ;-)

For the rest of us, our kidneys can easily process about 4 gal. a day! So, drink up!!

OK, here's what happens when you drink too much water (you MUST check out this page!!)

excellent work, Junie.

I'm getting in a lot today, because I plan on CHEATING tonight! It's my BD, so I'm gonna have my first real cheat meal in almost 3 months. Mexican food all the way, and a real microbrew beer! Ole

Working on my last 33 oz bottle of water for today, who knows, maybe I will have a treat of a diet drink when I drink it all!
