OK, I'll stick this up here first. We all know water is a KEY to losing weight during LC plans, so here goes....

I'm going to try to get in 128 oz. every day during September. That leaves me about 50 more today!! I'd love to hit 175 by the end of the month, to boot.

(I can't believe I'm a newbie again.....)

Yeah...took me a while to find new forums too.

Well, I didn't do well this past weekend so I will join this challenge and try to do better. So far I had 100oz yesterday. Working on 120oz today. I'm discouraged though cause I am not losing on this woe and I have been on it since July 7 and only lost 2lbs and was sooooo faithful on it too and lately I have been taking a bite of something bad every time we go out to eat which has been about 3 times in the last week. Anyway, I'm gonna try real hard to get my water down.

I can only add that I will try to drink more water today than yesterday which was 0. I am a full fledged diet coke addict! I am trying very hard today to only drink water, but of course I am suffering with those damn caffeine headaches! Well, off to drink more water.

Hey fellow water people,

Shawny, I'm really surprised Atkins has been so difficult for you. Did you lose much on induction? Were you really strict with the allowable foods? And, are you exercising regularly? I've found both the increased water and exercise have helped the pounds come off. It's still a challenge every day, though. I admire you for continuing the battle even though it's been difficult!!

Keep it up

John

Yeah, I was strict, by the book with induction and only lost a total of about 4lbs and gained 1 back and drank lots and lots of water and nothing but water. Don't know why I can't lose this weight but I'm thinking my metabolism is very, very slow, if I have any. And no I didn't exercise during induction so I figured that was the problem. So I started exercising and then I gained another pound so I have actually lost 2lbs since starting this woe. And now I am getting discouraged and sometimes I have the attitude that 'it's not working anyway so why not' and I have to fight to stay on track. I have recently taken bites here and there once per day and that is not helping but I think I am staying within my carb allowance, it's not the right kind of carbs though.

Anyway, I'll get off that soap. I drank 120oz yesterday and am working on that again today!

Boy do I need this challenge!! Lisa, you sound like me. I practically live on Diet Coke. I do try to drink the caffeine free but I bet I put away at least 2 cans a day, at least!

I have never been a big water drinker but I know that I need to be, in a bad way. I start the day off with a big glass usually but then I seem to forget that I need to drink more as the day goes on. So, what's a good amount to drink per day? I have seen a few different amounts posted. Maybe I will start off with 100 oz and go from there. Sound good??

Okat then, I'm off to get a BIG glass of cool refreshing WATER!!! Good luck everyone, happy drinking.

Let's get this thing going Lisa!!! We can make our own challenge within a challenge , less Diet Coke! Are you with me?? I will start tomorrow because I have already had my 2 cans today.

Thanks for starting this one John, Lord knows I need all the help I can get!!

All right Dana! Water is key!!

I have heard it recommended that you get 1/2 your body weight in oz. per day. For instance, a 172 lb. person would want, umm... 86 oz. a day. I think that's kind of a minimum. I'm trying for a gallon a day. (128 oz). Some folks say you have to ADD to your basic amount the no. of oz. of diet drinks you consume! 36 oz. of Diet Coke would mean 86 + 36 oz. of water. I try to avoid the diet drinks and caffeine as much as possible.

Shawny, yep, the wrong kind of carbs can spike your blood sugar and get your insulin going. I think the main point of Atkins is to level off your blood sugar and keep insulin production to a minimum. Insulin helps your body convert glucose to fat! I think about that every time a potato chip waves itself in my face.

I'm sorry that everything is being so damn difficult! Maybe you'll wake up one day soon and weigh yourself and be amazed!! I'm thinking good thoughts for you and you keep that chin up and don't give up! It will come off!!!

Two cans????Two cans??? I can only wish to drink only two cans! Try a minimum of one 2 litre bottle per day!! I crave it so bad it is my TREAT. I am not a chip person or a sweets lover, but that diet coke is my true love!! I did good yesterday, well, good for me I guess. I drank 63 oz. of water. I bought a gallon jug today of water and am committed to drink it each and every day till I float away..lol Now my question would be, is that an ok amount to drink?

Lisa

Hi Meechel!! (I missed the name at the end, and didn't catch the change of handle)

I didn't know if you were going to find your way over here, so i started the water challenge. I know it was your thing, so I'll defer to you next month!! Glad you made it.

Lisa, I think a gallon a day is a good amount for anyone. As long as you have a clear shot to the loo!!

176.5 this morning!! Still making slow but steady progress toward the goal.

Thank you John. And thank you Lisa. I am hoping for the same thing.

This morning it seems I may be down a pound!! yeah!! But I won't claim it until I see it a couple days in a row, just to be sure, cause the scale fluctuates all the time. Hopefully, I did something to cause my weight to start going down again? I did start using coconut oil recently. The label says and I've heard others say that it helps to promote weight loss.

Congrats Golf!! Keep it coming!! (or should I say going!)

I missed posting yesterday. I managed to drink about 96 oz on the 4th and about 80 yesterday. Not bad for me. I have never been much of a water drinker! I did manage to lose 2 pounds in the last few days, so I'm excited about that. Just 35 more or so to go!!

Hey Lisa, I only drank about 6 oz of Diet Coke today! (Well yesterday actually. It is now the 6th. I can't sleep!) That must be a record for me!!)

Have a great weekend everybody!

Dana
