Happy ABCD (Adult Beverage Celebration Day)!

My football players asked me if I was coming to see them tonight....uhhh, nope, I didn't. Been there, done that, don't need to do it again.

This week, I got hungry. I mean really hungry -- my stomach was even growling one day before lunch. I think I'm going to have to eat more breakfast. As compensation, I ate more later in the day. And, therefore, put away more total calories. I spent five days in a row @144, then went up 1# over the last two days. I'm not too twisted about it though -- I have lost 3-4 pounds since school started and am only 7-8 pounds from goal.

Have a good weekend, all. Elyssa, good to see you back again. I've been wondering if you have deserted us.

Welcome to our group Tammi.

Elyssa, I have been wondering about you too. Glad to have you back.

Beth, I got that from a joke service I subscribe to. Some of his stuff is suppose to be true. I am not sure if this one is or not. It should be if it isn't. Can you imagine one of your high school students being followed by their mother all day . I use to tell my kids if they gave the teacher any trouble I would spend the day with them. They knew I was serious too.

Judy, I have been getting hungry before lunch too. I do not know what it is. I am eating about the same things for breakfast.

My challenge yesterday was to avoid the donuts they had for our "pay day Friday" get together.
That was not all, the music teacher made a chocolate cake to welcome a new teacher to our "special" group and to celebrate another teachers first pay. It was an ice box type cake. Chocolate cake with cherry pie filling and the icing was boiled and poured on. It looked really good. I had ordered a huge chicken salad to be delivered and i was so full it was not even tempting. I think my experience last weekend after tasting chocolate also helped my will power .

Well my schedule did not change any this week. I may be able to make some plans now .

Have a nice relaxing weekend.

It's amazing how donuts always seem to be the treat of choice for meetings. They do look good, though!!

I love Saturdays, no exercise, no alarm, leisurely breakfast (omelette w/ tomatoes, green onions and cheese, bacon, and Atkins cornbread), and time to drink a LOT of water. Oh yeah, some coffee with heavy cream. It's a beautiful fall day here in Oregon, crisp and clear, gonna be 75 degrees or so.

Does anyone know which lc diet plan includes "cheats". I'd like to read up on one as I approach the maintenance phase of the wol.

Hi Judy and Susan! I just haven't had the time to get on here lately.

I get to work by about 9, and usually don't leave until 4:30 or 5. Except on Wednesdays when I teach a night class, I don't end up getting home until after 9. But, I really enjoy that class. They are a good bunch of students, they interact, ask questions, answer my questions, work in class, and we laugh alot. I think that makes math less scary. And they did really well on their first test. Yes, I already have them graded, and they won't get them back till Wed. I am on the ball.

I have set down and planned out the rest of the semeseter. So far, I am still on schedule. That's a nice feeling.

Susan, congrats on staying away from the donuts and cake. I took in fudge and cookies this week, for my students. Several had been asking about the fudge already, they were in my classes last semester. I didn't eat any of it. And the cookies were low carb peanut butter ones. Yummy! I have several students that are doing low carb, and sometimes we stay after class and talk about it.

Today I mowed my yard. That was a workout, but figured needed to get it done before it gets as tall as it was last time. I'll probably spend part of the day inputting grades in the computer, that way tomorrow I can do nothing.

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Two days without a post --- someting tells me we are all hard at work. I just thought I'd give this thread a bump back up.

Purple--- Glad you have a good night class, and I wish I had all my papers graded. Tell me, did you make the fudge and cookies??? I can't believe that you could make them and take them and not have a taste. I'm totally impressed.

I have an all day meeting tomorrow. It is at school. I somehow got drafted to be on the school improvement team. I can think of a BIG improvement~~~pay teachers more $$$$ . Anyway, we will most likely get to order lunch so I can eat a salad, but I am sure there will be donuts for breakfast. I will eat a filling breakfast before I go . That way I can resist temptation. I will just be satisfied smelling them. I am sure they taste horrible anyway .

Have a great "humpday" tomorrow.

Hi Everybody...This bus driver is finally getting her water in....I take a 2 liter soda bottle with me to work ...as long as it is gone by noon then I am all set....fill it up again and gone by bedtime...that's close to a gallon....just have to make sure I take advantage of 'down time' by using the restroom...I have a 50 mile trip and it is a long ride with a full bladder!!!! Hope you all are doing well and your students are being well behaved!!!!

If I set a goal...then when I finally reach that goal..I am afraid that I will use it as a license to eat..therefore..I have no goal...only to stick to this wol FOREVER!!!

I have a funny/sad tale to tell about what happened to me at school today. A math teacher at our school is going to have gallbladder surgery very soon. Today she asked myself and another teacher if we were able to teach math. I said yes since I am techinically certified to teach it. The other woman said no since she is secondary history only. The math teacher went on to ask me if I could teach her math classes while she was out with the sub taking over my classes. I told her no (rememeber this is the year of NO! ) because I really need to teach some English. She got so mad (the seeing red kind )at both of us and went on to inform me that she didn't understand why I wouldn't take her math classes because they're more important and that anyone could teach English. Ha! This is the same woman who schemed behind my back this summer and took part of my job away from me and is also going to go present MY research/findings (without my permission or documentation) from that work at a national conference in February. Delusional, isn't she?

Just thought I'd share.

I hope you are all having a great week! I am!

Beth, Where are your administrators? I can't imagine anyone suggesting that kind of change or the admin approving it. As my DH would say, "Who's she sleeping with" that she has the power to see that things go the way she wants them to.

And, congratulations for saying NO. I bet it felt good. Besides, I would probably have been smiling inside to know that I had done something to get under her skin after she had schemed against you.

Yes, I made the fudge and cookies. And no I didn't eat any. It was dreamsicle fudge, which I don't particularly like anyways. Now, if it was peanut butter, that would be a different story.

Way to go Beth! You shouldn't have to teach someone else's class and then have a sub for yours. What is she thinking?! Surely there are subs that can do math?!

Today was the last day this week. But, tomorrow we have a faculty that looks like it is going to be a long one. I have plenty of papers to grade, probably should do those tonight.

I'm glad the weekend is here. I need the break.

Where was my administrator??? Well she was probably in her office playing with the kitten that she found in her yard yesterday morning and decided to pick up and bring to school. No, I'm not kidding in the least. Our principal is a wonderful person, but professionally she is a total flake - I always feel bad when I say or think that, but it is the truth. As to how this is allowed to happen - the math teacher in question made a comment last spring that within a year she would be in charge of our school, and damn if she hasn't kept her word. Now if our principal doesn't put that cute, cuddly kitten down and watch her back, she's going to find a dagger in her back, as well. By the way, I would have said no to her stupid request even before she stabbed me in the back! What I would not have done is make a David Letterman style "Top 10 Reasons Why We Should Only Teach Math at The HOPE Academy" to be passed among some of my close faculty members! People actually thought that it was so funny that they want to print it out and post it on the walls.

Have a great Friday tomorrow! After all it will be ABCD again! (Ggreat name for it, Judy!) Dress rehearsal is my place tonight! Just kidding!

Beth, I cannot believe the nerve of some people! It really irks me when people do not think my expertise is as important as theirs. I get that alot teaching special ed. It is like it is really easy to teach kids with IQs under 70. I am glad you told her NO. I still cannot imagine someone having the nerve to ask that .

I started the ABCD tonight. I had such a rough afternoon I just had to be fortified. I made the DH take me out to dinner and I drank 3 drinks. I know I will be sorry tomorrow, but its Friday I will give them some free time so I can "hangover" in peace .

Eylssa what is dreamsicle fudge? I think that sounds better than PB. I am not crazy about fudge anyway. One of the sweets I do not like.

Lllstric, congrats on being able to drink your water. I have to be closer to a bathroom myself. I am still finding it difficult to get enough in. I make sure I get at least 60 oz. in, but I need more. I really drink it up on weekends {water}.

Have a great TGIF!

As a former teacher, I loved this. I used to send out a note at the beginning of school like this:

Children should spend no more than two hours working on homework each evening.
That time should be budgeted as follows:

14 minutes searching for homework
11 minutes confirming that the school building is locked and work cannot be retrieved
18 minutes frantically calling friends to get assignment (allow extra for faxing)
17 minutes describing to parents why teacher is really, really mean and does not like kids
10 minutes for TV break
15 minutes for dinner
13 minutes on the phone with friends gathering evidence as to teacher's hatred for all students, especially you and your friends
22 minutes on assignment

I am new to this site and board, but I am appreciating the support and humor here. My weight is coming off slowly (probably because I took a four month long "maintenance" break), but I am back on induction and hoping to reach my goal by Thanksgiving.

To make excuses for why your child did not do his work - Press 2

To cuss out staff members - Press 4

To ask why you didn't get needed information that was already enclosed in your newsletter and several bulletins mailed to you - Press 5

Susan - I know what you mean about how people view sp.ed. teachers. They think that you have it so easy. Not! If done correctly, the sp. ed. teacher works harder than just about anyone else in the building.

I told a couple of our teachers about the ABCD thing. By the end of the day it was, "TGIF! Time for ABCD!" The kids had no clue what we were so excited about! They probably thought that we were being "lame" again.
