| Welcome to my Fellow Newbies! Dana, Amanda, Shannon, Jacqi and Gotto!!! We're going to make a great team!! Dana - well done with the water! I drank 1.5 ltres yesterday, and today my goal is 2 ltrs - I have a 750ml Evian bottle, and today I'm going to drink three of them!!! How's everyone feeling? Last night, my feet were freezing!!! When I go into ketosis, I get really cold limbs (hands/feet) so that's a good sign. I don't have any Ketostix, but I can sort of tell by how my body feels. I had a bit of a headache yesterday, likely due to sugar/glycogen withdrawal. So, today is Day 3 for me, but some are starting today (I think) so let's just pretend like every day is day one, with the mucho enthusiasm we always have on the first day! Gotto - how did you do at 1am last night? Good or bad, let us know. You have to think of this WOE as like training for a marathon. Noone can go out, buy a new pair of Nikes, a hot little running outfit, and hit the road and run 26 miles. Even the trained athlete hits obstacles along the way. Think of conforming to this new way of eating like training for a marathon. It is a long-distance, endurance event, but you can do it, just like so many others have. OK, TODAY'S CHALLENGE IS: Write out your food journal for the next seven days, before you've eaten it. If you need ideas, go to the recipe area on this website, or just search "low carb breakfasts" or "low carb dinners" using your search engine and you'll get tons of ideas. I did mine last night, and now I can't wait for every day to come because I have some great meals to look forward to, like one night I'm having pan-fried prawns with caesar salad, another night I'm making cheeseburgers with fried onions & mushrooms. My breakfasts on the weekends are Sausage Egg McMuffins without the muffin, and Eggs Benedict, without the english muffin (I have to find a recipe for hollandaise sauce that works with the program...) If you find any great recipes, please post them here. there is one on this website for mock mashed potatoes, you mash cauliflower, put creamcheese, cream, and a bunch of other stuff, then bake them - it is absolutely amazing! So, plan what you're going to eat - even if you only get from Thurs - Monday - that's a good start, because we all know how we get side-tracked on weekends. Mmmm.... I'm getting hungry! Better go have breakfast. We'll post our losses tomorrow! | Okay. so I did great yesterday again all the way up to 12:00pm .I broke down and had some ice cream. But the good thing is I increased my water from 9 oz to 24 oz and told my hubby I was going to start LC for him and my daughter too. (DD doesn;t need it. Ped. says she is too skinny anyway, but I realized that kids don't need to be started on so much carbs and sugar anyway. The only thing I see it leading to is where I am today and If I can prevent that for her I will. It was no fun going through school being fat. Also good thing Is I ate the last of the chocolate ice cream yesterday and I refuse to buy more.... We shall see tonight. Love the hamburger with fried onions. I am going to add broccoli with melted cheese on the side. till tomorrow. |

| Hey G: I think that's great! Upping your water will make a HUGE difference. And, like you said, now that the ice cream is gone, it will be SOOO much easier. I also agree with your comments on what type of food you have handy for your daughter. I was chunky all through school, and it was tough. My mom didn't cook for me until dinner, so I ate whatever I wanted, or whatever was convenient. Thank goodness I was a very active kid, or else I would have been very overweight, like my mom and gramma are. There's so many healthy alternatives for kids - frozen grapes, granola bars, mixed nuts w/ raisins, yogurt, basically unprocessed natural carbs vs. chocolate bars, cookies, chips, etc. Mmmm.... the broccoli w/ cheese sounds good! Maybe some butter... and a few toasted almonds after induction... sounds very good! I just had lunch with friends - they wanted to go for japanese food, so I had salad and chicken teriyaki, but without the sauce because there's a lot of sugar in teriyaki sauce. I am stuffed, my lunch was on program, and they paid! which was even a bigger bonus! Back to work here, just wanted to touch base. Keep up the good work, THE POWER PUFF GIRLS UNITE!!! | hey niki, the water is going great i'm shooting for half my weight in water oz. i did pretty good. i have in 112 oz so far today with 2 more bottles to go. as far as the menu i will have to start tommorrow. i have to go grocery shopping, i ran out of eggs, chicken and beef! ouch,lol i feel like i am eating a ton, but still haven't gone over 2000 caleries in a day, i guess it helps to cut out the 660 calories in the 2 reeses cup packages i would eat a day! i have planned on doing the mashed cali since i saw it. i just need to make sure i watch the servings. i have to remember it serves 6,lol. i have copied about a half a dozen recipes off of this site and about 12 from adkins site. for lunch for a few days i am making some eggsalad,also a curried shrimp salad on adkins site link http://atkins.com/food/recipes/all/c...imp_salad.html it looks real goodand only 2 net carbs. also they have a recipe for cauliflower potatoe salad: http://atkins.com/food/recipes/all/c...ato_salad.html the main staple of my eating is eggs i have a 3 egg omlette with cheese every morning. to spice that up i will add over hard eggs since i can't dip my yolks with toast anymore. when i make my chicken on the grill i always add 2 extra pieces to save for later. i went to dinner last night had steak and salad, they only offered a choice of potato and you would be proud i didn't touch it. can't wait for the weigh in, i have cheated and looked at weight. i am at 268 down 9 lbs. in 5 days. go figure. i use the ketostix and have been in the moderate to high range and the water weight i'm sure came off. i guess the water helps you pee it off and it helps supress the appetite. i know it won't stay at this rate or i will disappear in months! have a nice weekend and good luck on the weigh in. | challenge ideas, i forgot to add. i was gonna suggest walking maybe not for miles but take a walk with family or goto a park and hike a trail. the weather is crap here so if not nice enough i am gonna try to ride stationary bike once i dust it off. i need to start excercising. even if i only walk around the block its 20 min. i'm not on my ***! so thats my idea. have a nice one Dana the guy |

| Made it throug last night with only one chocolate covered cherry. will resist tonight. promise. Now for a gross questions? Someone told me that when you pee and it is very dark yellow that it is the fat flushing out of your body... Anyone confirm?? Today instead of taking the elevator down to the cafeteria I went out and walked to a store to buy some roast beef and american cheese. If you have to walk there you certainly have to walk back so it's some exercise. Trying to drink more water, not used to it I would never drink any water in a day and maybe 2-3 cups of tea and soda for dinner. Can't believe I went without water like this know how important it is. Have a great weekend I am going to weigh myseld on Monday |

| Hey G - wow, that's awesome that you just had one small treat! It just goes to show you can still have a little taste of the good things, and stay in control. Way to go! As for pee, my first pee is always the darkest, and then my second pee during the day is the darkest, because I take my multi-vitamin first thing. I don't know why, but I do know that throughout the day, as your urine becomes diluted with water, so does the colour. Not a professional opinion, but one of personal experience.
