Hi all - I'm joining the challenge before the month gets away from me! I'm just in my 3rd week of getting "off the couch" and am starting the month with a terrible cold, but I do feel much more energetic if I can keep from hitting that snooze alarm in the mornings and hit the (stationary) bike instead. It also seems to keep my appetite in check during the day while giving my metabolism a kick in the...metabolism.

So I'm challenging myself to get up and get biking every morning! So far I missed Monday, did 20 mins. Tuesday & Wednesday, couldn't drag myself out of bed this morning but did bike 20 mins. tonight. Hoping to add in some weight work, too, before the month is out.

Glad for the support - good luck to everyone!

Yeah! I finally got up off the couch (actually recliner) last night and walked on my treadmill for 20 mins plus did some exercises with my hand weights. Plus, the woosh fairy came to see me last night and took 2lbs away with her!

Hope you guys don't mind that I post in whenever I work out - not that I'm bragging, mind you, it just keeps me DOING it because I know I can come on here and SAY SO!

That being the case - today I walked the aisles of two grocery stores, dusted, vacuumed and cleaned my house (which I NEVER do because I've had a housekeeper, but boo hoo, she quit to take a full-time job!) and THEN couldn't even talk myself OUT of getting on the elliptical. For 25 minutes and 38 seconds. And 800 revs. Felt good, too!

Actually I had a slight ulterior motive in getting on it - I figured if DH saw me in the exercise room when he got home, HE'D go in there - and I was right - he's working out on the CrossBow right now! We'll see if he also does some elliptical after that....

Char, doncha even think about apologizing!

Those of us doing less well than we hoped (as I have for almost a week now) take inspiration from every person who posts what they're doing!

I have little to report other than a certainty that tomorrow I WILL have time to do something, since I successfully avoided having any "homework" this weekend. 'Bout blankin time, too.

***grumble*** prolly forgot how to do a shimmy by now. ***grumble***

You never forget how to shimmy Maggie.
    5 a.m. Barb?

Well I'm going out today and buying clothes to match the upholstery. Never did walk yesterday. 30 mph winds should not have deterred me when the temperature was in the 70's. But alas tehy did. It didn't help that I spent the entire morning trying to get my nephew his drivers license. But his step mother (stepmom2) threw out his tax return stuff and his only proof of residence was his w-2. If aggravation burns calories as well as exercise, I did very well yesterday. we'll try again next week. Today fer sher a walk despite the wind and decreasing temps.

Edited to note that it just started raining heavily. Will revise the fer sher line until further notice.

    OFF MY BUTT!

Ahhh... that's better. Leaving my homework at work for this weekend has left me with some actual time to do something.

    A wonderful morning so far:
First order of business, finding and disposing of the remains of the dead mole which the Gang of Three brought in to play with sometime in the night. Next, armed with mop and clorox cleanup I proceeded to wipe up the schmeres of blood all over the kitchen and bathroom floor. (At least they were considerate enough to confine their gory festival to two rooms. ) Took care of the footprints, too. (It's mud season here, but I'm NOT complaining! I'll take mud over winter, anytime.)

Next, after some scrambled eggs, came shopping on line to replenish my jewelry making supplies. Then I hit the Itunes store and bought a slew of John Phillip Sousa marches and popped them right into my ipod.

Then, the ceremonial excavation of the treadmill. Actually, I've cut down on the prep for this - finding another home for the telescope and dressmaking form - so I just have to shift the occasional table and move my laundry basket.

... AND I WAS OFF! Turns out that the version of the Liberty Bell March (think: Monty Python's Flying Circus) I picked up is a perfect tempo for 3.5 mph. I put that baby on auto-repeat and went for a mile and a half, maximum uphill! Not bad for having been sedentary for the last several days, and under the influence of TOY.

I feel so much better! Now to tackle my kitchen ... Including the stuff I hid in the stove because the dishwasher was full. Blechhh! When I'm in work overdrive, I really don't do anything but work, eat, sleep and throw a meaty bone or two to my furkids. Now I have the joy of washing almost a week's worth of dishes.

Tomorrow ... my halter & harm pants are clean and just awaiting my pleasure.

I'm inspired to see everyone perservering in the face of impediments! We can do this!

WOW Maggie, you sure sound chipper!!! I went into Curves today, 'cuz I skipped it yesterday, just felt like being a fauxtater. I'm zippin along today, getting various errands run, dishes etc. My sister sent a box FULL of size 10 pants. So now I have to make room for them. That's on the agenda for today. Somewhere I plan to squeeze in a nap with DH. I'm planning on marinating some kind of meat in some whey I just acquired from draining some kefir. It's supposed to tenderize it. Can't wait to see how it turns out (gotta go raid the freezer now.)

You guys slay me And the mental picture of anyone working out to Monty Python's Flying Circus music
70 here yesterday...GORGEOUS!!! Soon as I got home from work in the am, took the pups for a walk and to their favorite place...the park. Went to Chuck E Cheese with BF and his almost 3 y/o. If you're ever a little bit down in the dumps, just run around with a little kid at Chuck E Cheese...does your heart good. Went to best friend's house and cooked dinner (mine was too messy!) MMM, grilled salmon with zucchini/swiss chard soup and salad. (It's that all-meat-and-cheese-diet I'm on, yanno)
Messy and rainy today...I have to go to work in 6hrs I'm trying to drink enough coffee to get motivated to clean or do SOMETHING other than veg out on the couch and watch the Dead Zone (for some reason I cannot NOT watch that movie, any time it is on...same with Stepmom) Truth be told, I'll probably get this huge energy burst around 5ish, start cleaning like mad and then have to abandon all efforts by 7 to get ready for work. Working with very, very newbie guy tonight. NOT looking forward to it. Think: vacationnextweek, vacationnextweek, vacationnextweek...help!
