Hi all. Just been sticking to going to Curves my 3x week. They are supposed to weigh/measure me this weekend - The Curves weight loss challenge I signed up for starts next week.
I've been really, really bad on my walking. (what walking?!?!?)
But I do feel good going to Curves. I've been reading the book, and they have some home exercises in there. They show a way to do crunches and side crunches that seem easier to me than the ones I had tried in the past. Don't ask why, I don't know.

I've done the ones with arms crossed, and with hands 'supposedly' supporting my neck - but my neck always hurts anyhow. (have had a couple ruptured disks repaired in there) - the book has you hold your hands together in front of your nose and use as a guide. for some reason this works for me. My neck doesn't hurt, and I can really feel it in my abs.
But do I do it???? only when I am in bed and remember. I am a totally vegetable in the evenings. Works is just draining.

You're welcome Tara - Good on going tot he gym.

Charski - gardening is hard work, more so in the heat. That and the isometrics would seem enough.

Mary Kay - Have you ever tried the ab roller? Very easy on the back and neck. I Broke my neck and back in a car accident many years ago and was not able to do any type of sit up/ crunch until I started using the ab roller.

Remind me not to say how much energy and stamina I have. Yesterday I couldn't get any speed going in my walking. I ended up doing 3.5 miles in 1:11.
That's under 3 mph. I may not walk today since I won't have time until the evening. We shall see.

Rob - have you seen this new 6-second ab thing? do you think that may do any good?
I also have a problem of getting on the floor - just cause then the dogs are there to help me with anything I try to do.

Mary Kay - is that the one where you sit down instead of lie down? I never tried that but I did try a friends gadget that was similar. It put a lot of strain on my shoulder which in trun strained my neck. Why not take a trip to sports authority or some other sports place and see what eqipment you can test before buying. I still think opu'd like the ab roller because it has a head rest that moves with you and gives full support to the neck.

Maggie - I hope things have settled down for you. We miss our Queen Fauxtato here.

Rob, thanks for the input. I'll check it out.

Barb - I still have to go outside to get to my office, but I do get pretty casual during the summer. We may be moving my office back to my home next year. I just like the idea of having to 'go to work' even if it is just across the driveway.

Thanks, Mary Kay.

I'm sorry, gang, that I'haven't been posting much, but this "queen fauxtato" has been busy in every other way.

My intentions to get on the treadmill torture machine were abandoned due to a good friend doing poorly in the hospital. He died and was burried Tuesday and I've been spending a lot of time being with or as helpful as possible to his wife (my best bud and ex-law partner). My triple fracture friend is "starting to knit" so to speak, and my ovarian cyst friend is feeling a bit better every day.

Natch, this am, I banged my knee as I was rushing around to get ready for work. This does not seem to be a return of TN problem - just a bad bruise - which will go away much faster.

I'm not making ANY activity plans at the moment. I'm not waiting for a point where nothing hurts. At my age, that would condemn me to permanent couch fauxtato status. Just waiting for the moment when I'm not urgently needed somewhere else and don't have any acute pain.

THAT, will happen.

GEEEEEZ, Maggie, I'm so sorry about your friend!! How rough for his wife....and you ARE a good friend to be available, in whatever capacity is needed.

Sounds as if you are doing enough running around to qualify as activity to ME. Hope you get a chance to stop for a deep breath every now and then....

Hugs
Char

Maggie...My sympathies.
Chased BF's little girl around from 8am-5pm today while he worked. AND pulled said little girl and friend of little girl around cul-de-sac and uphill several times in wagon, often times at a break-neck run. And pushed said little girls alternately on the swings. I'm countin' it! Gym scheduled for tomorrow; BF plans on going too!

Mary Kay - across the driveway counts the same as home.

Maggie
"I'm not waiting for a point where nothing hurts. At my age, that would condemn me to permanent couch fauxtato status." Boy do I know what you mean. Again sory about your friend. I agre with Charski, it sounds liek you've been very active.

Tara - sounds more like work than exercise. LOL

This is the second day i haven't walked. The hunidity is up and every old injury is inflamed. I've had a constant headache since I rolled out of bed yesterday morning. I think it's something to do with the change in pressure we've gotten in the past 2 days. My back and neck hurt worst during an abrupt rise or drop in air pressure rather than in just humid weather. But I got in 85 miles for April so Im made my goal with some to spare.

Rob, good on you for making your goal!!!

Maggie, I'm so sorry about your friend. It seems I've been thinking a lot about people dying lately, since a co-worker's husband died last friday due to complications of heart surgery. It sure does make you realize the fleetingness of life and to appreciate your loved-ones and friends. And it's a constant reminder to me that I don't want to waste another moment being angry with anyone or hurt by anyone. Sending you great big {{{{hugs}}}} girlfriend!!!!

Mary Kay, you are a trouper!!!!

Gardening definitely counts and so does running after little creatures with unbounding energy!!!!

We're tearing up my kitchen floor this weekend and installing wood laminate flooring. Uhbouy, it's gonna be a mess for awhile. Don't know how much they will let me help, so I don't know what kind of physical activity I will get. I only went to Curves once this week so far. Right now all I want to do is nap. We'll see if I make it there this eve. or Tomorrow morning. (but as always, I got a good workout at work again.)

Have a great weekend everyone!!

me too - everything!

so sorry about all that is happening Maggie. Hope things brighten up soon.

Have had a headache for about 3 days. Not a migraine (I know those) just a nagging, sore-eye type of headache.

and napping - I decided to sit on the couch to do some planning for some projects I keep putting off. Darn if I didn't fall asleep!! can't bill for that!

got Curves tomorrow, then to my moms for the Ky Derby - we always have watched that together. supposed to be weighed and measured for the start of the weight challenge. I'm already up 2 lbs - so that should give me a good start in losing :(

meanwhile, glad you are all doing -okay-. I certainly didn't do well in my walking - but one of these days I may be more motivated on it.
