| Ok, where is everybody? Judy, Elyssa, Beth, come back! I really miss you guys.I have 6 days of school left with students and then I have 2 days of teacher's meetings. I am hoping to find the time to get my room summer ready so I will not have to come back after Weds. My principal is pressuring me to teach the special 1st & 2nd graders next year. The teacher who has done it the past 2 years wants to move up to 3 & 4. I have more senority than either of the 2 teachers, but I don't think I will force the issue. She also wants me to work in the reading lab with the supervisor. I get the feeling she is wanting me to train to take that position when she retires next year. It is LOTS of paperwork. I hate paper work! I do not know what I am going to do. I am sick of 5th graders, but I want the 3 & 4 position. I think I could force the senority and win, but I don't think I would want to do that. I am good friends with the teacher and I am sure that would change our relationship. I have the summer (I hope) to decide. Any advise?????? Beth, how are you doing? Is everything looking good for next year? Judy, I have not even been reading the vet forum to know what is going on with you. Are you staying at goal. Elyssa, are you ready for summer break? I have regained 5-10 pounds depending on what day it is I hope to hear from someone!!!!!

| I assume this is a teacher's group judging from the content of you post! I get out on the 28th of May. Last year it was the 16th of June. We go back 4 August however--so much for a summer vacation. . .I hate going back in the heat of the summer--makes more sense to me to stay home til the last week of August. Besides that--my Birthday is in the first full week of school again this year--no celebration there!!! LOL Are we setting some kind of goal for the summer vacation or is this just a check in point? I hope to be 160 by my birthday this summer. I do have to get on the water thing today--or I will be up all night as a result of taking my diuretic after 6:00pm since I haven't drank any water and I hve to get in 75 oz before I can take the darned pill--but if I skip it--I blow up like a darned balloon--two weeks ago I ran out--gained 12bls in 5 days--NOT good! Anyway, would love to join your group and share teaching experiences and stresses and losses along the way!

| Hi Susan (and husker), I totally admit that I have not looked for this thread in weeks. I actually forgot about it. I was just about to post an invitation for new "tracker" participants. Susan, I'm sorry to hear that things have been going so rough for you. How is your SIL doing? I hope he is recovering. My son's girlfriend from high school found out that she has a benign, but very serious brain tumor. She will be having surgery soon. As a teacher of handicapped students, she wants to wait until school is out -- isn't that just like a teacher? Yesterday was a big day at our house. My DD graduated from college. She does not yet have a job, but she has two interviews this week. Maybe something will come through soon. And as for me and the goal weight... Yes, I am maintaining. This morning I was 136.5 School wise..........We have 10 more days. Then I get Memorial Day off. Summer School starts Tuesday June 1. If my class this summer is as bad as the one last year, it will be the last time I do this. At least it's only two weeks --- but it's two weeks of 8 hour days with 30 high schoolers. I must be crazy. I had a "talk" with the principal about some pay and scheduling situations. I'm hoping to see improvement in next year's schedule. This has been a rough year. I'm not sorry to see it end. I hope to make my challenge of summer vacation one of not gaining any weight......... of course the Blue Bell Chocolate Almond Fudge (Low Carb) ice cream I bought today could get me off track. It's been a long time since I had chocolate ice cream. |

| Hello Husker, at one time we had a very talky group, but life got really busy for most of us. For my summer vacation goal, I would like to lose15 pounds. At my present weight that would put me at 162 (I really need to change my sig weight to reflect my weight gain). I would love to be able to go back on Aug. 16th looking slim. I lost most of my weight last summer and I loved all the compliments I received. Judy, you are doing so great at maintaining:gorgeous: . I hope your summer school experience goes well for you. I am not teaching it this year. With the 2 kids it is too much. I am only taking 2 1 day computer workshops also. I usually do several things during the summer. I have lots of housework to get caught up on so I will be busy. Congratulations on your DD graduation. I will be attending a college graduation party for my nephew Sat. night. It is out of town, so we will be staying in a hotel. I plan on eating dinner before I go. Of course the AB will get me. I still cannot resist! I have decided to go ahead and teach the 1 st & 2nd graders next year. I may really enjoy it. Or I may just be nuts! Now that you remember this is here come and visit. IHusker, hope to hear from you too. I am still looking for Beth & Elyssa. I hoep everything is OK with them.

| Judy, I forgot to reply about my SIL. He is doing fine. They still do not have the results of all of his tests, but it is looking good for him. I hope your son's GF comes through the surgery with flying colors. I understand her wanting to finish out the year. I did the same thing when I needed gall bladder surgery. We just think we are irreplaceable. Stay away from the ice cream!

| Wow, just one more day with students.............. I have a total of three weeks. The regular year end on Friday. SS starts the next Tuesday and will run through Monday the 14th. That darn holiday messed everything up. Actually it might not be too bad, we will come back on Monday take the final and be out of there. DD's graduation went great. She worked a temp job in Dallas last week, and is hoping to have an interview with another branch of the same company next week. The ideal thing would be for her to get something that would start July 1 so that we could pull together all the stuff for her to move and be set up. Funny thing about life. though..... it never seems to work out the easy way. We have started shopping and thinking about how we can create an apartment that is decorated in a look that does not totally scream hand me down and college crap. She is ready for a "grown up" place. Of course that fits right down my alley. I love doing that kind of stuff. DH thinks she should spend zero on decorating. His idea of where to spend money is a television........... MEN! Actually, I think we can pull it off pretty well including the TV for around $1000. Beth, good to see you around. Come back and let us know what's up. I know you are looking foward to ending the year with the admin from hell. |

| I am jealous of all of you who are getting your summer vacations now. For me school does not end until June 17. And summer school begins July 6th. Not much time to camp and play (or do I mean clean?). I teach technology to K-5 students and am responsible for the over 100 computers in the building so the end of the year is nuts! The temptation has been strong to eat HC at school recently with all of the end of the year events and goodies around. I am hoping that I can manage to ward them off with will power. Happy Summer vacation to all of you who are done. Enjoy your "free" time! Amy G |

| I am out next Friday--4 more student days and two of them I am cheating and showing a movie--tomorrow I have a sub--dental appointments--and Tuesday is the awards program and I have no place to ahve PE when it is over 90 outside so we will be in the classroom showing a video about the body--Magic School bus has a great one aobut the muscles and bones--theya re building a robot! I teach K-4 PE--so when they use the gym for programs, assemblies and the like--I get kicked out! I hate that!!! I know the regualr teachers do to--they want their kids to get out and run around!!! I eat salad for lunch every day, I am more worried about this summer when I am not on a strict schedule!

| Hi, all! Another teacher here -- and a soon-to-be retired teacher, at that!!! My last day is this Tuesday, after 31 years of teaching! However, since I'm moving to New Mexico (from West Texas), I may "double dip" and teach there for a few years more -- until DH retires. We both went to school yesterday (Saturday) and totally emptied my room of all my stuff --- and I have to say that my steps felt considerably lighter after all was done...and not just because I've lost 23 pounds on Atkins so far (started in January). If this thread is still going after hubbie and I return from our vacation (we leave this Thursday), I'll step in again, if you all don't mind! We're going on a dream vacation ---a retirement celebration from my husban--- an Alaskan cruise on Royal Carribbean and after which we'll spend a few days with friends in Anchorage. Anyway, I wanted to step in today and wish all of you a very smooth ending of school, and wonderful summer! Elizabeth

| I too am worried about the lack of a schedule for the summer. I have a tendency on the weekend to skip meals or not get in enough water. I have never skipped meals before this woe. But now I just dont feel the hunger the same way- nor is eating what I do just to fill the time. I did get a job teaching summer school from July 6 to Aug. 6. My walking buddy will be working with me too. So I will still exercise daily for that month anyway. It is hard to keep up at home. I have 2 kids with special needs and difficulty finding a babysitter for when I want to walk ( or go to the doctor or run errand, or any thing else.) But I do plan to try to keep up. Maybe some videos or something. We are camping LOTS this summer too. So I have to learn how to pack some LC stuff that is easy to prepare for these trips. Lots and Lots of learning to do this summer! Glad you are all here Amy G |

| Welcome, to all of our "new" teachers. I'm glad you're here. Maybe with more people we'll stay more active on this thread. Does anyone know about Elyssa? We need her, too. Friday was my last day with the kids. I have to be here through Wednesday - with Wednesday being my move day!! :jump: I was hoping to skip all of the post-planning meetings, but was informed that although I would be at a new school next year, I would still be expected to help them plan here for next year. I know, it makes no sense. I plan on sitting there with my mouth closed. I really don't think that I can add anything positive and don't want to go out on a negative note either. This summer I'll be traveling with my DH. He owns his own compnay and has some rather large accounts in St. Louis, Virginia, Columbus (OH, not GA), Charlotte, and Austin. I know we'll be in those locations frequently and probably lots of places in between. He'll have his laptop with him, so I should be able to check in fairly regularly. I've gotten really good about sticking to plan as far as my eating goes and am really seeing some good results. I accept that I'm a slow loser, and I am really working hard to stick it out. I want to get back to looking like my "regular" self in time for my new school. I've taken up yoga and am loving it, but I still need to focus on my cardio more. I'm off to that blasted meeting now. I'm zipping my mouth before I walk in!!! Have a Marvelous Monday!

| One batch of kids out, and the next one in on Tuesday. Graduation was Friday night and we managed to get through it again without having to have anyone removed from the field. The kids think it should be a party, the adults think differently. Tuesday I'll start my summer mini session. It's 8 hours per day with the same kids for two weeks --- a full semester of economics is 10 days. I'll have to put on my "don't smile before Friday" face for Tuesday morning. This group is a bit immature. I'm taking a small break from my first summer project. I'm painting the bathroom today. The paint is a beautiful clear turquoise -- I'm a little scared to move past neutrals. Oh well, if it's awful, I'll paint it again. (after DH finishes the expected complaining) |

| Happy Memorial Day! We had a cookout today. DH's brother who lives in GA (north GA) was able to visit. He had to be in Columbus (OH, Beth) for a meeting yesterday and he drove down (we live about 90 miles away). He left around 3:00 to drive back home. We had a nice time. I made LC coleslaw and a blueberry loaf (out of a mix-it was a little dry). I did real well at lunch time, but I just finished eating a piece of the strawberry shortcake my sister made. I am determined to stick with LC during the summer. I want to look great in Aug. Beth, I am going to do induction tomorrow and stay on it for the two weeks! Welcome Elizabeth and Amy! Eliz, I am jealous of your cruise. That is my dream vacation. The only thing is I get motion sick very easily and I am afraid I would be sick the whole time. Congratulations on your retirement! We had 3 teachers retire and they are not going to replace them. Husker, the 2 ladies that teach PE at my school also have the same problem with their schedule when we have special programs. They seem to adapt like you do. How many students do you have? Well it looks like I will be teaching the 1st and 2nd graders next year. I will have 3 1st graders and 10 2nd graders. It ended up that I was not really given too much choice in the matter. I guess I could have "pitched a fit", but it is not really worth it. Who knows, I may end up really enjoying it. I am sort of worried about knowing how to teach them. After having the 4th & 5th grades, this will be different. Judy and Amy, good luck with summer school. I was asked to teach it, but with the 2 grandkids it is difficult. If their dad was not working and could stay home with them I would have taught. I really enjoyed it last year (my first year to teach it). I have to go back to school on Tuesday. I still do not have everything put away. I have to cover my book cases and lockers. I am trying to get everything organized to begin the new year. We will see.
