Bicycle, not motorcycle

I'm just getting started on a bicycle again. so, pretty much a newbie at this -
but are there others out there who would like to start a bike ride tracking challenge?

Could be just like the walking one - how many miles for the month (I know we are halfway through this one already). It could be fun, and I would keep the numbers for y'all.

Since I'm just starting, going for 5mi week, so

goal/gone/to go
10/ 2 / 8

Hey Mary Kay

Does it have to be a real bike? I don't have a 'real' one, but use the stationary bikes at the Y.

any bike you want (cept the motorcycle, that would be cheating).
just mark the miles. I probably should make alternate plans for the rainy days. Gee, think I might actually make it back to Ballys? I still have my membership, after all....

Wow!! A Bike Challenge! Last year, DH bought me a mountain bike but shortly afterwards, I had wrist surgery, and had to postpone riding it. However, I plan to take up biking this summer right after we return from
our cruise (June 10). If that's not too late, then definitely count me in
the Bike Challenge, Mary Kay!

I am in, in, in! This is JUST what I needed to get my lazy bottom back on my bike. Considering I am committed to a charity ride this August (fourth year) and my butt hasn't graced the seat of the bike since last August, this is the challenge for me. Thanks, Mary Kay for starting this. BTW, do you have a bike computer? If not it is definitely worth the 30 bucks or so to track your miles and time in the saddle. OK, I plan to start with a seven mile loop tomorrow morning.

cool. I'll start tracking you all - this month is half over, so plan it that way.
June will be a full month.

I'm planning on getting a mileage thing for the bike. I found I really prefer it to walking - just feel like I'm getting someplace faster. and I like the 'breeze' in my face.

also want to see about getting one of those 'stands' that can make it a stationary bike in the garage. Do they still have those? I have a great bike store right up the street that should be able to answer that.

Count me in too. My bike is stationary and I will shoot for 10 miles from today until the end of the month. Thanks for starting this. I have been trying to get myself back on the bike and this will help. Love the walking and will probably to the biking when it is rainy outside.

rode the bike today, 3 miles. and really to add to it, did it riding to Curves and back - did the workout in the middle. I took my cell phone just in case I found I couldn't get back home. But it was doable. but Curves isn't open early or late enough to not ride in the heat, so may not be able to do that too much. But I did it. Last block was a killer, but I managed to get home. I'm proud of myself!!! think I will ride again tomorroww morning, if it doesn't rain.
I did buy a mile counter and an attachement so I can make it a stationary bike in bad weather. Need to get that out of box.

Rode the stationary for a little bit -- guess it was about 1.5 miles.

Got out this morning for a 2 mile ride. only took 15 minutes - I should be able to manage that each morning.

That is great MaryKay. I may have to invest in a bike soon. The stationary just does not give me the motivation.
