Tara - Really good going on getting to the gym, especially that early. Good news about good friend!

I did pretty much the same today as the past 3 days. Got meself to the park before the heat (92 today) was too bad. Did a medium paced 4.25 miles. New eating schedule is still working well. Down another pound this morning. I just want to get to sunday weigh-in without blowing it. I do that very well!

So where are the other taters? If this baked tater can get some exercise in there are no excuses!

Just a quick visit, since I've got to go to bed early for an early start tomorrow. Yesterday I did great on my mini-sessions, today I totally sucked. Everyone pulling me in different directions between conferences. I did, however, go out for short walk at lunchtime and, last night I did enough "chapter calibrated" weight exercises that my arms feel well used.

Tomorrow I'm outta here early to get on a bus to go be a tourist in the town of my birth, LOL.

A good friend, recently widowed, conned me into going on a trip to Ellis Island. I've never been there, although all my grandparents had to pass through. I've got ship pictures and passenger manifests for many of my relatives. On my Sicilian side, we cousins all chipped in to put Nona and Papa's names on the Wall of Honor, years ago. This will be the first time I've ever seen it in person. Anyway, tomorrow should give me some lower body exercise.

Probably not back to the board till Saturday.

Maggie - Have a great trip! That sounds like a really interesting thing to do. Let me guess - Going by bus because driving in NYC takes years off your life?

yo taters!
Not much movement here, a little on the weights, nothing in the pool (it really cooled off and my pool isn't heated).
Major toothache, tho the dentist says there is no cavity, so just dealing with it (read, pain pills & curling up with a book, lol)Gonna call the dentist tomorrow and tell him he needs to recheck for cause of this horrible pain! I have been getting toothaches for at least a month, so SOMETHING is wrong. *sigh* *poor me!* what a baby!lol

Maggie, hope you have a great time!

Tara, wtg on the gym! Also congrats on the breathing room, financially.

Rob, glad to see you keeping up on the walking. It does kinda make me feel guilty when I don't get my exercise in, then see you, Maggie, Mary Kay and the other taters being so faithful! I find myself thinking, if the other taters are doing it, I should be trying harder, lol. Sometimes it works, sometimes not! *grin*

Char, How are you doing on the elliptical?

well, made it to the water aerobics last night. I definitely prefer the evening one, I don't feel so pressed for time. and I don't feel like I have to do anything after.
so, yesterday was Curves and water aerobics. Today is a tater day.

Have a great trip Maggie, we'll miss you here.

Cynthia, you'll get there. When I look back, I've been more active in this last year than I've ever been in my entire adult life. It was slow in the beginning, but now I actually CRAVE activity...........so if it happened to me, it can happen to you too.

MK, WTG!!!! You sound like you're getting in your zone!!!!!

Rob, you have my greatest respect, continuing to walk in that southern heat.

Tara, I hope things work out for you.

Gonna go to Curves today after work.

Maggie - You can't do more than you have time for.

Cynthia - Don't feel guilty - get exercise! If I could jump in the atlantic ocean in Rockaway beach in early June when I was a kid, you can get in your pool. It's just a matter of jumping in and freezing for 5 minutes. Then it feels comfortable.
Or Take a walk.

Mary Kay - Glad you found the evening class less stressful.

Barb - Thanks but if you go early enough it's not so horrible. I know what you mean about craving exercise, that's happened to me a lot lately.

I went to the lake this morning about 9:30 and only intended to do 4 miles. Something got into me and I just kept walking past my turnaround point and I ended up walking around the whole lake - 7 miles. I've doen this many times before but by the time i finished it was 84 degrees. I also did irt in record time. 1 hour and 51 minutes which works out to 16 minutes a mile or 3.75 mph. I took my shirt off (soaking wet) when I got home and I fully expected to see a blue and red uniform with a big S sewn on.

No elliptical today but I walked prolly a mile or two - DH is attending a conference downtown, so I went to meet him for lunch - parked quite a ways off (in the 2 hour parking zone!) so walked to the Conference Center, to lunch, and back to the car again. Hey, it's better'n nuttin', Honey! LOL!

Talking It's a boy!

Funny thing, karma.

Just when I think everything -- work, especially -- s*cks and I have no perspective other than a negative one...something always happens to change my view and show me the bigger picture.

For the first time in my 10 year career as a paramedic, my partner and I had the pleasure of assisting a mom-to-be with her delivery.

A beautiful 19", 6lbs/9oz little boy with LOTS of curly hair!

He was born just as we pulled up into our bay at the Emergency Dept. Everything went smoothly, and per usual protocol, mom did all the work, but gave us all the credit.

So, now that I've had a chance to sit down (and, er...un-pucker certain parts of my anatomy) I can now reflect on how fortunate I am to be able to do this job that I love...and occasionally even get a subtle reminder on why I love it.

So...I was a big downer the other day. Figured I'd post something happy for today.

p.s. I'm gonna have to count that as my activity for today too, although I think the baby's mom would beg to differ...

WOW, Tara, what a trip!! I've assisted at the births of many foals but never a two-legged type - don't know that I could pass muster on that one! I might end up toes-up in the middle of the street! GOOD GOING and heck yeah, count it, no matter WHAT the Mom says!

Barb, hoola-ing huh? Hey that sounds like fun! Maybe I need a hoola hoop!!

Well so far today has been a repeat of yesterday, with the addition of after we ate, DH and I strolled down Fisherman's Wharf with all the tourists. Kinda fun!

If I feel like it I will probably get on the elliptical later - if not I'm gonna call what I done - exercise! Hey, a tater takes what a tater can get!

Ya, Char, I hoola during the jogging/recovery stations at Curves. I thought this old body forgot how, but alas..........it is much like riding a bicycle or typing.............you never forget. They have the ones that are weighted with water inside them. They get a momentum going that really helps. I need to go to Walmart or Tarjzay to get one. I think I would enjoy doing some hulaing around the house. And it's good for the tummy area and upper hips. (where I have stubborn saddle bags.) I could do it while I watch TV. (reminds me..........I need to get out my hand weights too. Mental note.......make centerpiece ala Maggie)

DH and I got out in the yard yesterday and did some more (neverending) yardwork. It's shaping up finally. I am going to go buy some Preen to sprinkle where there are no more weeds to prevent them from coming back.
