Talking Couch Fauxtato JULY Activity Forum

If you're just browsing, it's a new month and a NEW CHALLENGE. Come and join us HERE!

I am determined to continue doing this until I meet one of my own blankety challenges for a whole month!

Welcome, fellow couch fauxtatoes, to the "Couch Fauxtato July Activity Challenge."

Not usually into challenges? Don't want to tie yourself to a particular weight or size result? Intimidated by more traditional Exercise Forums? Do you, perhaps, have a treadmill that has clothes hanging on it? ... hmmm? But are you, perhaps, willing to contemplate a modest expenditure of activity with a short term commitment?

Then this is the place for you!

You decide what your challenge is, since you know yourself best. It could be taking the stairs at work, so many times per week, or if you're in the right climate, going for a walk at lunch time. No challenge is too small or too odd! You define your own challenge and then we'll check in every so often and compare notes.

Make this the month that you declare your independence from furniture!

Define your own challenge! Try it for a month.

*****LISTEN, FELLOW SLUGS AND SLOTHS, THIS IS IMPORTANT. A TRUE COUCH FAUXTATO CANNOT JUST LAUNCH HIM OR HERSELF OFF THE COUCH AND INTO AN INTENSIVE EXERCISE PROGRAM! Now, I realize that, for most of us, there's little chance of that. We are often also great procrastinators and most of us will take our sweet time dusting off tapes and/or looking for long burried exercise equipment, and will be adjusting our activity to whatever feels ok, especially to begin with. However, GET CLEARED, MEDICALLY, FOR WHATEVER CHALLENGE YOU ARE PLANNING FOR YOURSELF! Then proceed in a rational manner. Work into it slowly!*****

Thumbs up Re: Couch Fauxtato JULY Activity Forum

Damn...it's July already????? Where is my summer going!? :crying:

Went to the gym on the way home from work. Took 3 cups a' joe before leaving work just to get that motivated. Brewing a pot as I type so I can get the cleaning and possibly yardwork done, that I didn't do yesterday (cause I was being a tater). Also need to get my poor, neglected pups out. God, I reallyreally hope they and Sophie never communicate.
Feeling so much better since getting on a schedule for the gym. I'm typing it again: SLEEP BE DAMNED. I WILL GO TO THE GYM AT 6AM WHEN I WORK DAYLIGHT NEXT WEEK. Hmm, maybe I should add that to my signature.

July Challenge #1: Gym 4 days per week, no matter WHAT!

July Challenge #2: I am adding another month of eating clean to my challenge, since most of June was a flop. I will allow myself LC tortillas, bread, or 'product of choice' 2 servings per week.

July Challenge #3: New challenge to myself: Don't let the dishes pile up!!! Do the stinkin' things immediately after using them. I don't understand how I can follow through with this at work, at BF's house, but not in my own home.

Ok. There it is in cyberspace for all to see. Now to DO it!

Tara, You're right, of course, which I was late opening our July "home." LOL! We support you in all your July aspirations!

Mine are essentially to keep up with my "mini-sessions" that I hope to make a permanent habit. I've increased the odds of my own compliance by now keeping a 5 lb hand weight on my coffee table. Every time I see a commercial I hate, I have to do at least 5 reps of some upper body excercise. I can ALREADY feel where my triceps are.

I like that idea, Maggie! I think I will do something similar for July. Everytime............................hmmmm, I'm thinkin', I'm thinkin'...............................everytime I want to read, I will spend at least 5 minutes on the bike, or at the gym in my room FIRST. If I spend more than 15 minutes reading in one sitting, I will exercise for another 5 minutes.
Ok, that is my challenge for July.

Tara - Good ambitious goals! Good luck achieving them!

Maggie - I like that hand weight idea a lot. I think I'll do something similar. I don't think I have triceps though?

Barb - Pictures!!

Cynthia - Looks like we'll all have arms liek truck drivers soon.

I walked 3.5 miles yesterday at Tanglewood. But it was an interrupted hour. Some guy on a bicycle, I had never seen in my lfe, stopped to tell me his whole life story in 15 minutes. I didn't know how to get away so I just stared glassy-eyed. Finally he just said he had to go as if I were keeping him.

I always wonder about incidents like that. I wonder if there's some strange aura that settled upon me for a moment that compels a passing stranger to impart the particulars of his or her existence ... or if I've met up with some individual who's life mission is to tell his/her story to as many people as possible and I was just "next."

LOLOLOLOL Oh, too funny!!!

Rob, I got the pics developed, now it's a matter of DH taking 2 mins out of his schedule to scan them and put them on a disc so I can put them on on this computer. They turned out kind of light, so he'll have to darken them a bit. The shadows in the lattice look a bit washed out. I'll nag him to do it this aft. when I get home from work.

Hey all

Yeah, I really was surprised and tried to go to the June Challenge yesterday. I guess I'm just not ready for June to be over. But hey, July is a 3 payday month, so why am I complaining?

Well, I stuck to my guns yesterday. Ate clean (which for some reason has been easy again, yay ketosis), went to the gym, and did dishes 6-17 times yesterday (it felt like). Had my gym stuff with me this am and was planning to go after work, but I just didn't feel like it. So, I hopped on the trail behind our station and took a walk/run in alternating intervals (that's called fartlek training...I swear, I'm not kidding!) May go to the gym later if BF decides to get his skippy butt up there sometime this week (slacker!!)

Finally he just said he had to go as if I were keeping him.

Some people just seem to be wearing this sign on their forehead that screams, "Approach me! Regale me with stories! I love it!" So....you're one too. Welcome to the club, hehe.

Maggie, that's a good idea with the hand weights. I can't be trusted to do anything while watching tv, other than stare like a lobotomized sloth and most likely fall asleep.

Barb, Yeah! What Rob said! Pictures! Nag him! Nag!

Cynthia, that sounds like a good goal. If I worked out for every 15 minutes I spent reading or interneting...well, I'd have never needed to lose weight!

So, the plan is...get dogs to the park. Maybe some yardwork later, the dogpiles are taking over, as are the hedges.

p.s. I picked my first 2 zucchini from my garden yesterday!

went to the water aerobics session at Ballys today - hardest part is that I have some social anxiety problems, so once I get past that sick feeling from that it is fine. I think I am the youngest one in the class. Most of them are older ladies and have been doing this for several years.

It was fun. I can see doing this regularly, and now my legs are starting to feel like I did something. You don't feel it in the water!!!

Hey, Greetings fellow 'taters!
I did the work-out thing last night, but I think i will have to avoid leg exercises for at least a little while. I did some leg lift thingies, and man, my leg is killin' me!! I have a tiny little varicous (?) vein, and it was sooo sore after my exercise, that I will not do that again! Dang! But I will continue to exercise, just not my leg- lifts. i will try some other leg exercises and see if they have the same effect. Maybe I can find ds's hand weights, and try those as well. (As long as I don't have to actually go into his room, *shudder* )

Okay we'll see if this worked. If it did, the wall looks a little washed out, but you can still see some of the shadows hopefully. We'll see what it looks like. The top part shows the shadows in the lattice better than the center part. Can you see the shadows under the leaves? I will be adding more leaves, plus some morning glory leaves and flowers. I intend to have a couple of more tender, smaller vines winding off onto the sides too. It's taking me so dang long to get anywhere on this what with LIFE getting in the way, working, sleeping, eating and doing dishes and laundry, ya know?????? And it looks better in real life. If I can get some BETTER pics, I'll post those too. I also was going to post a pic of the Virginia creeper I'm wrestling with, but that is for another time.

It looks a bit distorted in the picture too. It's much more "straight" looking. My camera stinks. Ya know, if I could make a living at this type of thing, I would love it!!!!
