I could do that but I think the honor should go to Sheyla since she invented this challenge. I think a new thread a month would be sufficient though. It is all up to the majority, so let's get your input.

I like the idea of doing this on a monthly basis. That way, the thread won't get too long...so I guess this thread could continue till the end of July? And then we could start a new thread at the beginning of August? What does everyone else think about this?

Once a month sounds great to me(I mean one challenge for the month of july, new one for August...)
count me in, I feel like the last 12 days (no white sugar, no white stuff, only lc and on plan fruits and veggies of course protien and fats)
and can actually see the scale moving downward again....
so... thats my vote

So do we just let everyone check in at the end of this month? Last weekend of July is July 31/August 1st...so should we just have everyone check in on August 2nd? How does that work for everyone? It will work for me if it works for all of you, too. Just let me know.

I am going to check in every monday, if i need more help more, but at least I can report back each week and see how everyone else is doing.... waiting till the end of the month is a little bit too much for me, right now I need short simple goals.... One day at a time, weekends, exercise - check in when I work out.... so if nobody minds, I will probably check in on friday see where I am and monday, see how I did.

Works for me! My fellow Texan, Carolyn, and I will be checking in a little more often, though. Well, it happens to be midnight here right now, so the weekend has officially begun. I HAVE to go to Kroger tomorrow and get some fruits and veggies...among other things. Take care all!

I'll join you too. Weekends are hard for me. Not as hard as it was, now that I can eat meat and more meat. It felt good last week to step on the scales last weekend and see I had lost weight over the weekend! So maybe (legs, fingers, and toes crossed) I can do it again.

So I wish you well and everyone else who is doing this!

Good luck to everyone this weekend! I'm faving the challenge of a possible visit to IHOP today but think I'll be fine and be able to handle it. Pancakes are my weakness but i could go for a veggie omelet and ask for extra veggies.
I know I have the willpower to do this today if we go.

Good luck everyone! I'm dog/cat /house sitting this weekend so I am currently in a house with enough sugared treats and carbs to stock a supermarket. I mean they have 12 boxes of cereal in their cupboards. But they have 2 teenagers so it's understandable. I will have to be on my best behavior.

Well, I decided to shake things up a bit. I was sick of seeing the same weight over and over, so I had a planned cheat yesterday. I am hoping for some sort of alarm-clock type wake up for my metabolism! I am totaly back on plan today and I finally made it to the grocery store this afternoon.

So, I've only had a HALF no cheat weekend! LOL! I am happy that I had the cheat, then got back on plan right away. None of this 3, 4,5 day or week long off-plan binge that I would've been on a few months ago. I don't LIKE feeling groggy, bloated, and tired. And my tummy gets angry, too. Eating off-plan= Gastroenteritis.

How did everyone else fare?

I did better than I would have by going to the bbq sunday. But Not as well as I should have. Made a pork roast at lunchtime and proceeded to eat it like there was no tomorrow for the rest of the day. Carb level was good but protein was over 200 g.

I had a really rough week that went on into the weekend and through today. (my post 'sometimes you juat have to quit striving' in the OWL forum explains some of it)

It started with the TOM this past week which, of course, meant a slight weight gain and that depressed me (could it also be that one day, over last week, I ate over 60 g of carbs and 2000 calories? Yeah. It would only make sense!)

I literally had no appetite on Thursday but managed a salad and still had no appetite on Friday but managed a salad as well along with a sugar free iced latte...that knocked the weight off but only 'cuz I had no appetite!

Of course, today, I am showing those 2 lbs back on the scale but then again, I think of what I ate yesterday...not too highly on plan...5 choc covered espresso beans, 12 oz Hot Chocolate, 7 potato chips...it might not be a lot but it was enough to gain...I ate everything else on plan...oh yeah...that one slice of Dark Bavarian Rye Bread didn't help, either...I was overly frustrated and upset with it this morning, and the poor DH heard all about it.

"You just didn't get anything that was said this weekend, did you?" He asked. "It's not about weight loss. (we were talking about the leadership/weight loss group) It's about self-discipline. Who cares if the scale is moving or not? As long as you know you're doing everything right, then that doesn't matter." I really pondered what he said while I was in the shower. And I knew he was right. And I WASN'T doing everything right this weekend. I didn't work out for two days straight...and in my opinion, I should really watch what I eat if I'm not going to work out for two days. I have also come to find that I do have to watch both my carb and calorie intake just to maintain the weight I am at now...if I don't, the pounds come on like lightning. So I looked at my eating chart over the weekend and made notes to myself: cut out the hot choclate (the sugar-laden kind, of course!), the chips, the espresso beans - and for this week, even the lc bread!

My other problem is that I am use to eating when I'm not even hungry. So I eat wihout realizing how much. And I've decided to stop doing that as well. I know I can't eat 4 eggs and 2 oz of cheese for breakfast like I use to when I was heavier. 1 egg and 1/2 an ounce of cheese fills me up...so it's enough. And I'm trying to remember that as well. Now if I will only start listening to my body and let it tell me when it's hungry...

So today, just to get my head cleared, I am doing a detoxification. And I know that'll make me feel lots and lots better.

This week and next weeekend will be much, much, much better. I am promising this to myself!

Carolyn, I admire you for being sugar-free for, what is it, two weeks now? That's awesome...my turn to start doing that! I've been told that it takes 28 days to learn a new habit...so here I go, re-learning the habit of how wonderful it feels to be sugar-free!

Sheyla,
Actually I believe it is three weeks for the new habit...., but the more you can do it without cheating the better.
When I was trying to get exercise in my life as a daily (at least 6 days a week now) I went to the gym 97 days in a row and woke up early every day to get there and do a workout.

Come over and join the one day at a time challenge.... We are all struggling and trying to get a handle on food, exercise, cheats, etc. al. and It seems to help me cut down on my cheats - actually I had a coke2 over the weekend, but I passed up choc. cake, and a real coke to keep things under control.

But I got back on track and didn't let that little cheat beat me up. I am trying to realize that when I want to eat somethng I shouldn't (or drink) that there is something else I can have instead..... and have that.
Keep up your resolve....you can do it....
