Default Blood sugar monitors - article

I found an article about concern about some blood sugar monitors, so I thought I'd post this link for those of you who might have that particular brand.

I asked my sister about this since I knew she had this machine. She said yes it could happen but it is pretty obvious that something isn't right with the machine. She's been an insulin dependent type 1 diabetic for over 40 years so she may be more savvy than someone just starting out.

Holy smoke, Nita! That could be very important to a new type 1.

My own glucometer is the accu-check active. Slightly lower tech, but I've found this to be a pretty reliable monitor.

Thanks for posting this.

My Mom was getting readings in the 300's. She was very upset and then I found that article in the newspaper. She was so relieved but still felt something was wrong. The PA did up her medicine and that helped but they both felt her monitor was reading too high as well. She's doing better but her monitor is still giving really high readings. I offered her mine and hopefully it's doing better.
