| Anyone here currently on this new, "lizard spit" drug???? I am seeing a metabolic specialist because my insulin resistance has gotten worse and my PCOS returned. Six weeks ago, he put me on this new diabetes medication -- along with Glucophage -- and I have to say that I think it is working! I go in a couple of weeks to have my bloodwork checked again, but I definitely believe it is making an impact in my eating and in my liver's response to insulin. Just wondering if anyone else was currently taking it and how you felt about it?

| Summer, Funny you should post about this medication. I had my 2nd patient yesterday that is on it. I had never heard of it until a few weeks ago. FWIW, she said it's working wonders thus far and her BGs are improving daily. She is very hopeful this will stabilize her and make her quality of life better. S.

| Well, I'm curious to see what it will do for me now that I am back on track with my LC eating... For the past 6 weeks -- WITHOUT eating like I should OR exercising -- I have lost 13 pounds. But I should state & make VERY CLEAR: This is NOT meant to be used as a weight-loss drug!! The studies are very promising and the history behind the research is kind of funny... Gila monsters only "have" to eat a couple of times each year... they isolated the (protein? enzyme?) in the lizard's saliva that slowed down the digestive process and allowed a better glucose-insulin reaction by the liver (in other words, NOT storing EVERYTHING I eat as fat!) and found that it significantly decreases the appetite -- something I can attest to. I'm still a little wary; this hasn't been around very long and no one really knows what the LONG-TERM side effects are, but for now, the benefits SEEM to outweigh the negatives (giving myself a shot in the stomach 2x a day! & early-trimester-like nausea!!!). I'm hoping someone who has been on it for a while will pipe up and tell me their experience with it. I will post my bloodwork results when I get them, too.
